If the Habs do indeed end up in the playoff :)lol), they should use Halak all the way and leave Price to cry on the bench.

i wonder how Halak would perform in the playoffs?

And you would be wrong. We got better things to do then focus on a team choking out of the playoffs.

I count Forza as a Capitals fan and Manics is banned

Even as a diehard Habs fan, its easy to hate on our team this year. We're a mess. Sure we are going to make the playoffs, but Id imagine we'll be playing golf after 5 games.

Uhh, are you sure about that?

Yes. We'll squeak in at #7 or #8 before Boston or New Jersey puts us out of our misery. This also ISNT going to be a repeat of 2002 (assuming we get 8th seed), when we were #8 and smoked #1 Boston.

That Sharks game was fun to be at tonight. Especially seeing TooToo getting smashed by a rookie :D.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBvL1V0Db_w

He left blood in 2 areas on the ice: near where they were fighting, and near the door to the visitor locker. The ice crew had to clean it up and shoveled the red slush off to the side.

This was so awesome. I haven't seen a player lose so handedly in a while. Staubitz is a beast.

We clearly took this to OT to let Nashville take a point. Guaranteed our next game with them will be taken to OT as well to help them into the playoffs. We're very afraid of playing the Northwest division. No more choke-ups on Hockey Night in Canada, please.

Ovie's celebration is drawing some mixed opinions...

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=414636&navid=DL|NHL|Home

"I think he's a terrific player (but) he came down a notch in my book after that," said Lightning interim coach Rick Tocchet. "I grew up in the old days in the (Philadelphia) Spectrum where that first period, after that happened, it might have been a three-hour first period. It's not something I like (and) it's hard for me to see that in our building."

Said Lightning goalie McKenna: "I'm a traditionalist when it comes to hockey. I appreciate guys who play the game hard and are humble. (Ovechkin's celebration) is not something I've ever seen at the NHL level, I can say that. He's always exciting to watch. He's great for the game, but it's not something I would have done."

"He's the game's most dominant scorer, but to do that, especially on our ice, I took it as an insult," Lightning wing Ryan Malone told the Tampa Tribune. "It's embarrassing. This isn't football."

Even his own teammates and coach seem to be a little mixed...

"He told me he was going to do it," Green said. "He wanted me to join in, but there was no way I'd join in on that. I just kind of stood back and let him do what he does."

Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau said he wasn't aware of Ovechkin's planned showmanship, but that he plans on speaking to him.

"I haven't said anything yet," Boudreau said after Thursday's game. "It was his 50th, so maybe he was thinking of something special, I don't know. He's never done that with me that I've seen. I personally don't like it as much."

Eh? whats the big deal? One of my greatest memories is Teamu's shooting of the gloves and Fleury's playoff goal. Personally I always thought Tiger Williams riding the stick thing was really lame but no one really complained about that I think.

You want Ovechkin to stop celebrating? try stopping his shots from ending up in the net. It was the dudes 50th goal, let him ham it up. Ryan Malone should take it as an insult but its not like he can do anything about it. Personally I like rubbing it in after scoring a goal.

I don't understand what the big deal is about celebrations. The players can fight but they can't celebrate scoring a goal? What the fuck is going on?

Plinko

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
People need to stop whining about the celebration.

If there's anything hockey needs right now, it's a figurehead to step up to the forefront when it comes to entertaining fans. Doing this gets the NHL more attention on crap like Sportscenter. That's not a bad thing.

Traditionalists tend to do more harm than good in this area. They whine about not changing the game, but look at the shootout popularity or when baseball implemented the wild card playoff teams. Both are huge successes.

As long as it doesn't come down to full-team dance routines after a goal, it's good.

True. If it was football, the Caps would have been penalized and Ovenchicken would have gotten a $15,000 fine for using gloves as a prop or some shit.

I think the problem here is that Ovechkin is too different. Most NHL players are extra plain and it shows considering people get offended over this shit.

You think this is bad now? Just imagine if he scores a goal that knocks out Canada in 2010 with an even better celebration...Cherry will die.

It's hilarious to me to hear Pens fans complaining about Ovechkin's celebrations and how they're bad for the game. What the NHL needs is MORE players like Ovechkin and fewer fuckin pansies like you find scattered throughout the Pittsburgh lineup. What else can you guys say though? Your captain is a nard-hitting, jump a guy when he's not expecting it type of pansy. You really should take a hard look in the mirror before pointing a figure at Ovechkin for celebrating yet another 50 goal season. What's Cindy celebrating -- the 3rd straight year with 50 or more tears shed in games?

Speaking of tears, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the golden boy Jim Carey Price. How many times can this fuckin idiot cry during a press conference? He should have gone into figure skating the way he loses it in front of reporters. LOL. Enjoy Montreal! The off-season will be soon upon you, 100 years and it's come to this pathetic cast of nobodys on your team. See you in April!

:lol

The whining over a guy showing some creativity is annoying the crap out of me.
"He's the game's most dominant scorer, but to do that, especially on our ice, I took it as an insult,"
So then maybe you guys should stop him you idiot. The people in this league overreact to some of the most stupidiest things you can and then they wonder why the league is where it is.

I think Tocchet is probably pissed off that he didn't get to the bookie in time to make some cash off AO's #50...

This.

Teemu's celebration was fucking awesome. One of my all time favorites. And, even as a young Oilers fan, I enjoyed seeing Fleury go ballistic after his OT winner. I remember my dad (a Flames fan) totally cracking up when he saw that.
Players should never taunt the opposing teams (or their fans) during a celebration, but if they're going wild simply because of their unbridled enthusiasm for the game and the moment (e.g. a third straight 50 goal plateau), then I'm all for it.

Ovenchicken is becoming the T.O. of the NHL now....

Except that AO isnt locker room poison, and is fucking awesome in all facets of life. AO is god's gift to hockey, and I cant believe people are actually trying to take him down a peg.

Id like someone like Sidney Crosby more if he had 5% of AO's personality, rather than being a poster boy for the dull.

Osorio said:

Exactly. There are so few truly awesome personalities in the NHL (hell, only AO and Roenuick instantly come to mind), and what do people do? Get upset over it. Give me a fucking break. All the other major sports, which all do much better financially and in terms of viewership, have marketable and well known characters. When is the NHL going to realize this? The NHL should encourage this rather than preferring everyone to be so unremarkable.

Teemu Selanne's glove shooting celebration. Tiger Williams' stick riding celebration. I can't tell if these people are being ignorant or just flat out retarded.

Ofcourse they're a mess especially during the later half of the season with major injuries but It's sad seeing all the "HAHA! YES! THEY ARE ALMOST OUT OF THE 8TH SPOT! LOSE HABS LOSE!". No other team gets this kind of shit here.

The Leafs would be getting it too if it wasn't already established when the season started that they weren't really to be considered an NHL team this year
