Lions having injuries. IMPOSSIBLE!

Thats awesome.
Sean Payton is always great at keeping the players amused/content.
From reading his book about the super bowl year he had a lot of awesome ideas and morale boosters, like bringing out the wooden bats in the divisional game where they beat the ever living fuck out of the Cardinals. That was also the only time Reggie truly did anything of note.

The Giants made an offer to Plax before he signed with the Jets according to the NY Post:

Giants offer to Plax: $4 mil, $1 mil salary (zero $ signing bonus), 500G for being active every game, $2.5 mil in performance bonuses.

The Jets offering 3 million guaranteed likely pushed him to sign. The offer above is just what the Giants should have offered for a 33 year old. Performance bonuses, being active every game, etc. I would have been fine with them signing him with that kind of contract. Not terribly sad to see him go somewhere else with that level of guaranteed money.

ATTENTION PLEASE!! ATTENTION!!

Niners sign Antwan Applewhite, formerly of the chargers! see what you get chargers! you sign 2 of ours, we sign 1 of yours!

p.s. lofa tapupu released by the seachickens. in my mind there is a 99.9% chance he signs with the eagles

Coughlin says Osi and Jerry Reese talked yesterday and that "something good came out of that."
So much for Osi's "I ain't talking to Reese" junk.

Linval saying he was smiling afterwards, so must've went really well.

John Clayton says something nobody ever read before.

Osi would still like to go to Seattle in a trade

I still think the Jets got a good deal at 3Mil even guaranteed. Low Risk/High Reward. If the kid can still play then he will be playing for a bigger contract next off season.

Plus if Plax can get back to his vertical game he is great for any developing QB.

In reality though this was a move the Jets needed to make in order to secure a #2 but have enough money to sign Cromartie.

I really hope that you are right.

I definitely think the Saints offense is going to be back where it was in 08-09. The runningback position is deep and variable, and definitely better without Bush in there. Being able to run means Brees won't have to force so much passing. The receiver corps looks fucking great as usual. Sorry Reggie, we liked you, but Darren SProles is exactly what we needed to replace you. He can also return punts without crumbling or stutter stepping.
Looking great so far. Defense is already getting that ballhawking swagger back in practice. This will be a great year. Lots of competition out there, but I think the Saints will be up to the task.

Yeah it's probably a result of the Nnamdi sweepstakes. Could turn out to be a really solid signing. Braylon IMO was the much better option at this point, but Plax could come out and surprise everyone.

From Rotoworld:

Calvin Johnson - WR - Lions

According to NFL Network's Lindsay Soto, Calvin Johnson has added five pounds of muscle to his shoulder and legs "in order to generate more power and explosion."

I have seen him person. I dont think there is an ounce of fat on his body. Such a beast.

It's a pretty big if imo. Hopefully playing for Rex and having something to prove lights a fire in him but on a purely physical level, it will be tough for him to regain what he's lost. For the money and one year though I guess it's okay to take that chance. Maybe come playoff time he'll be back to what he was or closer to it. And am I reading right that we might sign Heap? That will be interesting. Hope it gets done.

I have a good feeling once Cromartie is wrapped up that we will have Heap signed right behind him and hopefully then wrap up Ellis.

I have this really bad feeling Braylon is going to end up in the AFC East still...

Saints signed Ravens CB Fabian Washington for depth and insurance in case Porter or Greer goes down. Hard to judge Ravens CBs though because their secondary is generally pretty good to begin with.

Miami could use a WR. Only way the Pats are interested is if he come in for cheap.

Teams in need of receivers need to contact the Saints. Way too damned many good ones.
Cant sign them all. I don't know how Payton finds these guys but they all have hands of glue (except Henderson but he got better over the years)

Adam Schefter
RT @McClain_on_NFL: Fullback Vonta Leach has agreed to a three-year, $11 million contract with Baltimore.
I think the Texans made a bit of a mistake not signing him back. Can't remember the stat, but Lance Z noted they ran a lot more 2 back than most people think. That said, Leach was an awful receiver, so Kubiak probably wants another option when inexplicably going away from a productive ground game

I'll tell you all about him: he is dog shit.

I'll vouch for this. The last Raven DB the Giants signed:

sigh I hear that. Story of their record last year:

*Foster rushes for 2TDs and 10 yards/carry

Kubiak: We can't run anymore. They've caught on!!

* Schaub INT

Kubiak: They'll never see the pass coming now!!

* Foster catches the ball and runs for 50 yds

Kubiak: See! The passing game works!

* FG

I'm surprised the Pats didn't go after him. BB could always use a TE.

Another one? But they've already got Gronkowski and Hernandez. Plus Heap is guaranteed to miss what, 4 games due to his styrofoam frame?

Soroc said:
Noooo!!! I rly wanted the jets to grab him and run some 2 TE Passing sets this yr :(
Keller is all we need, there are good TE's that can be had for much less than Heap would have cost. Plus the Jets need to address the CB position first.

Yeah its really no big deal but it would have been nice to have another 6'5 target for Sanchez in the red zone.

Plus the Jets never run 2 TE passing sets. Its always keller and (was) hartsock. always 1 passing TE and one blocking.

Theres always Jeff Cumberland, hopefully he'll get to prove what he can offer.

All right if only the Jets could miss signing Cromartie this would be my favorite off season ever.

Fuck You!!! LOL Really though I don't know what the Jets will do if we don't get Cromartie. Most likely
horrible
scenario is getting Lito Sheppard back :(

If he can hold up for a game or two during the season that is good enough.
He will have some pretty good help in the secondary this year if necessary.
I remember we had osme ancient Ravens CB that helped us beat the Patirots in 09. I think it was Chris Mcallister.

No screw you!Pats would have been in the super bowl if it wasn't for Rex Ryan. They have to sign Cromartie. It's basically a necessity to play against the Pats. Wilson looked terrible last season. Asante could be an option if they don't sign Cromartie, but he isn't the kind of corner Rex Ryan likes.

I'm hoping for this just for the lulz.

I have wanted this ever since free agency started. The meltdowns would be great

@WAD1980 #Seahawks run a 4-3. Lofa would fit in perfectly in Bill's scheme because he's smart.

Interesting.
