CB3

intangibles, motherfucker
He's cut from the LeBron James model of freak-ish athleticism. The good thing is he seems to have far more work ethic than Bron.

Yeah, all the reports sound great. Haynesworth still seems to have a lot of pure potential, and even if he isn't in shape to play all game, he'd probably still be a nice addition.

Surprising to hear that we actually might have more than one capable player at CB and LB this year. Looking forward to hear more about Ras-I Dowling.

According to the article, the defense is adapting moving along faster than the offense? Who would've thought that after last year.

Right now I'm just a little bit worried about the O-line. Will they start Solder and Vollmer at Tackle? Could be risky.

Defense will almost always be better at the start of camp. It takes time for the offense to gel together again. Ras-I isn't signed yet so we won't hear anything about him until next week at the earliest. Having Leigh Bodden back will make the DBs much better because Arrington, and Butler will be covering slot receivers. It's good to hear that Bodden looks healthy. Solder is a LT so he will play LT. If they sign Matt Light(it looks like they will sign him soon) then he will play LT if Solder is not ready. If Solder is ready I have a feeling they might move Light to guard. The o-line should be solid this season.

Ty Warren to visit Texans on Monday!!

He will sign with one of the Texas teams since he lives there.

As a falcons fan, I am happy we only lost Dahl from our O-line, but I hear some people are saying Dahl was better than Clabo. I can't help but disagree but I was wondering who other teams think is the better player? In my opinion, Dahl is a particularly nasty O-lineman, but technically inferior to Clabo, which I think the coaches saw too in who they prioritized to sign.

I can't put into words how much I like the James Jones re-signing and the way it went down.

A-Rod defending the guy was one thing but Driver going to bat too?

AWESOME.

This offense has potential to be scary.
I'd like to see some two TE sets; I hope DJ Williams gets up to speed quickly, he interests me a lot.

While I hope the best for Lions fans after all these years of suffering, this reminds me of the Texans Cycle right now.

In two tight end sets, Jones won't even be on the field.....

Except that since it is new their inevitable failure will be enjoyable instead of just sadly adorable.

Jesus fucking christ, supposedly signed a deal that will make him the highest paid fullback in the league.
Beat writers were originally saying "top 3", corrected to "among" top FBs in the league.

Whatever that means, I don't know where to look for FB salaries.

PFT reports that it was actually 2nd, as Leonard Weaver got the same deal last year, but with $500k more guaranteed (although he was cut after one year, so...).

Just heard the Skins got Hightower for V Holiday

Yep. Wow!

Skins get (RB) Tim HighTower
Cardinals get (DE) Vonnie Holiday and a conditional late pick

Has the Ryan Williams show now begun? (Because I don't think Beanie has really done anything yet...)

Also, I guess that counts as more good news for Giants fans.

EDIT: PFT also saying Kuhn resigned with the Packers

personally I'd rather have Time Hightower than vonnie holliday, ryan williams and beanie wells. idk about this move

David Carr signing with the Giants. That means goodbye to the Rosencopter. It should save about 2-3 million in cap space or we'll end up trading Sage. Pretty much guarantees Sorgi is gone as well.

I know folks just love to hate Carr, but he played decently well under the Giants system when called upon for limited duty. Which is hopefully where it will remain. Limited.

He's definitely not as terrible as he's made out to be.. but he was a number 1 overall and that makes for some big ass expectations. he's a backup you wouldn't mind having. thats all

Oh and with the Skins trade, Ahmad is pretty much running out of options on where to sign. Even moreso with the Bengals resigning Cedric Benson. Once he signs, I predict the "I always wanted to stay with the Giants" as his opening line..

Osi is going to have to swallow his pride with being injured too. He's on the bike at practice today. Clayton posted this though (it is Clayton, however):

ClaytonESPN (TV / Radio Personality) During the conversation between the Giants and Osi U, the team told him if they would shop him they would ask for a No. 1 pick

Giants are also looking into free agent TE Ben Patrick according to Garafolo.

Oh and new roster update:

NYPost_Schwartz (Beat Writer / Columnist) C Adam Koets is on the physically unable to perform list. #NYG

Are the Giants required to have a former Texans QB at all times? Is Dave Ragone still in the league? Maybe Tony Banks will make a comeback.

the one problem with the lions, and it is a big problem, is that your starting qb is made of glass. now i have no true issues with shaun hill as a backup, but if he's going to play any extended period as a starter then.... good luck!

Maybe. He has a surgically-repaired shoulder and Dr. James Andrews said it should be good as new, so who knows. If Shaun Hill is QB this team is 8-8 at maximum.

Worst-case scenario means we're drafting another QB next year.

FML Pats will never surrender a number one pick :( Dreams ruined

Osi is good but worth a #1-2 pick he is not.
I agree on a first, but I think he's worth a 2nd to the right team. Regardless, the Cardinals gave up a DRC and a 2nd round pick for Kevin Kolb. Mind you, QB need isn't entirely comparable to a DE, but Osi had a quality year in 2010 and a pass rush needy team may be willing to overpay. The Giants would be stupid not to take advantage of the market and get as much as they can for him *if* they are truly wanting to deal him.

Though to be frank, the Giants going for a No. 1 pick should tell you that they aren't entirely serious about trading him.

nah, he'll be fine. He never missed time due to an injury in HS or College, he just had a few freak ones early in his nfl career. He really was only injured once last year, just came back too soon.

Not bad Vonnie was alright but he is 35 and on his way out already. Redskins are doing a good job at getting younger this offseason. Hightower is a good pass blocker, something we are lacking.

Nothing malicious, it's just the unabashed excitement for the year.

Oh, I was just curious if you saw some similarity between the teams' structure (i.e., GM, draft picks, FA deals, etc).

As for Detroit, I just spent some time watching game recaps of last year and I can't count how many times in the first 10 games of the season that an opposing WR caught a TD with the Lions' cornerback at least 5 yards behind him running downfield. They were absolutely atrocious at the CB position last year. Also, the LB corps was awful. Missed tackles galore.

Just heard on ESPN 1050 that Clayton said Jets will need to restructure some contracts to get Cromartie.

Really is looking upwards of 10Mil. 9'ers are you ready to open your wallets?

I don't think they are and the Jets will have the privilege to overpay Cromartie by 3Mil :(

The Nnamdi thing has hurt the jets big time. Lost out on a few pieces and drove up some prices. Ultimately to be honest I think it will work out for them if they can still pick up the pieces, but they should've just gone aggressively afer cromartie and others earlier.

True, but they did get better at the position as the season went on. Delmas came back, Houston got better, the young guys got better. I really think they might just need a true #1 CB. Depends on how the young guys do this year.

I always liked Rosenfels, aside from the 'copter. He is much better than David Carr, but I guess the Giants are banking on the Manning injury-proof genes and want to save some money.

Maybe Sage will land back in Houston. He's much better than Leinart as well.

Robert Quin showed up to Rams' practice with a knee injury. They say it's not serious, but idk. Rams like flushing first round picks down the toilet. Would make sense that he'd be injured and Bowers would be fine

Agreed--I was careful to mention "in the first 10 games" because in the last few they did seem to get better. I hope it sticks this year. The Lions really were only 16th in the league in pass defense, which was a big improvement from a couple years before.

So is Braylon done as a Jet?

Yeah he's been done as a Jet since yesterday. Jets basically came out and said they have no interest in bringing Edwards back for the $$ he wants.

They didn't say they wouldn't bring him back at all but that they weren't entertaining anywhere near the ballpark he appraised himself at.

Plus there is uncertainty with Edwards and how many games he may be suspended due to the DUI.

I don't know, but I think it's a pretty significant downgrade if Plax was his replacement.

Plax is definitely his replacement for a fraction of the cost. It could turn out to be the best move they made this offseason if he behaves and plays for a contract.

The strength of the team is still going to be offense. We have play- makers all over the place. Including special teams. (Stafford when played was great)

Defense just has to keep us in the game.

Well, I didn't say he was going to suck, but Edwards is significantly younger and Plax is several years removed from the NFL.

I'm just excited to find out who opposing OL's are going to double-team--Suh or Fairley.

Fairley dominated in the SEC, the toughest division in college football. He just needs to keep his head in the game. If Suh gets the double teams, Fairley is going to go hog wild.
