Why? The Jets are already thin at WR

Uh... it's the truth? Osi was benched in 2009 in favor of Kiwanuka because he couldn't maintain gap assignments and was flat out neglecting his responsibilities in order to try and get the QB and inflate his stats. I forgot where I read the stats, but in terms of pressures/snap played, Kiwanuka far outplayed Osi (and most of the NFL for that matter). He is a much better player and has been stuck behind Osi on the depth chart. Further, JPP showed flashes last season and by a number of accounts he was "playing in slow motion". That's pretty fucking crazy for those of us that got the pleasure of seeing JPPs 2 sack game as well as his insane ST play.DeaconKnowledge said:It just seems like the Giants are trying to prove to Osi that he needs them more than they need him.

Not stacked at DT. We only have Canty, Austin, and Joseph after Cofield and Bernard walked. Everyone else is training camp fodder.DeaconKnowledge said:What does Giants Age think he's realistically worth? I said before a 2nd rounder should get the job done, maybe add a 4th to sweeten.
I don't see why the Giants don't just go for it. They're pretty stacked at DT/E anyway aren't they?
I'd be happy with that. A mid-2nd rounder sounds about rightin terms of value. An added 4-6th pick would just sweeten the deal.DeaconKnowledge said:What does Giants Age think he's realistically worth? I said before a 2nd rounder should get the job done, maybe add a 4th to sweeten.
His number, along with Chase Blackburns' have already been reassigned to other players.Striker said:or if they elect not to re-sign Tollefson
Yep, some team will be desperate enough to overpay. If they don't, fine.BigAT said:Realistically he's probably worth a second round pick, but I like their strategy of demanding a first and then keeping him if they can't get that. They are either overpaid for Osi or they get to keep him and say there isn't a market for him to be traded.
This seems foolish to me. Who would be their #3 WR if they got rid of Cotchery? I can't think of any serious talent that they have behind him. Right now I consider Plaxico to be an unproven asset, it seems that it makes it all the more important to have a solid, reliable wide receiver behind him on the depth chart in case things don't pan out.Soroc said:Lombardi tweeted:
Yes confirmed from 2 NFL team sources, the Jets are willing to trade WR--Jerrico Cotchery-possiblely to free up cap space and sign other FAs
Looks like the Jets aren't done yet with the moves...

Osi is still part of the #giants. that's how he's operating.
Fewell impressed with JPP's retention from last season. #giants #nyg
Come on, Giants. Bring the man back!Perry Fewell pleased with DT Marvin Austin's practice yesterday. Said he looked powerful and quick. #nyg
Oh and have gotten plenty of questions on the 3-safety look. Fewell says it'll depend on personnel. Deon Grant still unsigned. #nyg
Fewell: We've got plans for Kiwanuka, other big 3 DEs to be a force. #nyg
Fewell: Prince Amukamara missing a lot not being signed and in camp. #nyg
Fewell on Goff: comfortable in the huddle and making calls. #giants #nyg
Fewell looking for a "quantum leap" from Kenny Phillips. Admits he tried to "minimize his collisions" last year on acct of the knee. #nyg
It's amazing to me how much Giants fans undervalue Canty because he doesn't put up flashy numbers.Wellington said:He looked good last year because Tuck and Canty were drawing the doubles (sometimes doubles plus chips for Tuck).

Wellington said:I think the Jets are moving in a different direction regarding their offense. How good a run blocker was Braylon Edwards? Plaxico Burress is second best in the NFL at that, Santonio Holmes is also pretty damned good. The best in the NFL as a run blocking WR is Hines Ward (funny, they all have one thing in common, getting in trouble with the law isn't it, but it proves that the organization is full of thugs and low lives). The Jets are likely looking to start running the ball like mad.
