It just seems like the Giants are trying to prove to Osi that he needs them more than they need him.
Uh... it's the truth? Osi was benched in 2009 in favor of Kiwanuka because he couldn't maintain gap assignments and was flat out neglecting his responsibilities in order to try and get the QB and inflate his stats. I forgot where I read the stats, but in terms of pressures/snap played, Kiwanuka far outplayed Osi (and most of the NFL for that matter). He is a much better player and has been stuck behind Osi on the depth chart. Further, JPP showed flashes last season and by a number of accounts he was "playing in slow motion". That's pretty fucking crazy for those of us that got the pleasure of seeing JPPs 2 sack game as well as his insane ST play.

I've disliked Osi for years, he's an overrated cry baby that's benefitted from playing opposite a hall of famer (Michael Strahan) and the overall best two way DE in the league right now (Tuck). He looked good last year because Tuck and Canty were drawing the doubles (sometimes doubles plus chips for Tuck).

What does Giants Age think he's realistically worth? I said before a 2nd rounder should get the job done, maybe add a 4th to sweeten.

I don't see why the Giants don't just go for it. They're pretty stacked at DT/E anyway aren't they?

Not stacked at DT. We only have Canty, Austin, and Joseph after Cofield and Bernard walked. Everyone else is training camp fodder.

I'd love a mid second for Osi.

If Osi left, and they just got picks in return, they would be left with Tuck, Pierre-Paul, and a Kiwanuka player who had a serious neck injury from last year. He's on a short term deal, but they're hoping he can stay healthy. If he is, it's a great trio and one that can be dominant in both the pass and run. I just wouldn't mind them picking up a DE for depth if he's dealt, or if they elect not to re-sign Tollefson, who in my view isn't a bad 4th DE and ST'er But he is not relied upon in 3rd DE roles; he was used this way some times in 2008 as the DL had absolutely no depth that year.

I'd be happy with that. A mid-2nd rounder sounds about rightin terms of value. An added 4-6th pick would just sweeten the deal.

His number, along with Chase Blackburns' have already been reassigned to other players.

Oh and the Prince needs to get signed and get his ass in camp!

Realistically he's probably worth a second round pick, but I like their strategy of demanding a first and then keeping him if they can't get that. They are either overpaid for Osi or they get to keep him and say there isn't a market for him to be traded.

Yep, some team will be desperate enough to overpay. If they don't, fine.

Lombardi tweeted:

Yes confirmed from 2 NFL team sources, the Jets are willing to trade WR--Jerrico Cotchery-possiblely to free up cap space and sign other FAs

Looks like the Jets aren't done yet with the moves...

This seems foolish to me. Who would be their #3 WR if they got rid of Cotchery? I can't think of any serious talent that they have behind him. Right now I consider Plaxico to be an unproven asset, it seems that it makes it all the more important to have a solid, reliable wide receiver behind him on the depth chart in case things don't pan out.

Why? The Jets are already thin at WR

If Edwards comes back to reality, 3 premier (once) wide-outs isn't thin at all. Greene and Tomlinson can help spread the field if they honestly need to in place of a 4 or 5 WR set. Again, all assuming Edwards is kept and restructured for what he's worth.

EDIT: My bad, hes unrestricted. Take what I said with a load of shit after.

Fewell met with reporters today and had some comments about Kenny Phillips, Austin and the Osi situation:

Osi is still part of the #giants. that's how he's operating.

Fewell impressed with JPP's retention from last season. #giants #nyg

Perry Fewell pleased with DT Marvin Austin's practice yesterday. Said he looked powerful and quick. #nyg

Oh and have gotten plenty of questions on the 3-safety look. Fewell says it'll depend on personnel. Deon Grant still unsigned. #nyg

Fewell: We've got plans for Kiwanuka, other big 3 DEs to be a force. #nyg
Come on, Giants. Bring the man back!

Fewell: Prince Amukamara missing a lot not being signed and in camp. #nyg

Fewell on Goff: comfortable in the huddle and making calls. #giants #nyg

Fewell looking for a "quantum leap" from Kenny Phillips. Admits he tried to "minimize his collisions" last year on acct of the knee. #nyg

Also, one more comment:

It's amazing to me how much Giants fans undervalue Canty because he doesn't put up flashy numbers.

I thought some have said they used Grant in the 3rd S role because of Phillip's questionable health, which makes sense. Now if they opt to use somebody like Prince in this role, or Terrell Thomas with Prince going outside, it can be just as viable.

I think the Jets are moving in a different direction regarding their offense. How good a run blocker was Braylon Edwards? Plaxico Burress is second best in the NFL at that, Santonio Holmes is also pretty damned good. The best in the NFL as a run blocking WR is Hines Ward (funny, they all have one thing in common, getting in trouble with the law isn't it, but it proves that the organization is full of thugs and low lives). The Jets are likely looking to start running the ball like mad.

To Be honest with you Braylon Edwards was a beast of a blocker. One of his best skills.

I think there will be a lot more passing going on with the Jets this year.

I'd personally prefer to see ground and pound back in full force.

Adam Schefters twitter.

But I was told by people close to Moss that he had that fire in his eyes again and he hasn't looked this good since 18-1.

Were these reports made up by his people to boost his appeal in the free agent market?! Tell me a lie!

Another situation I hope is resolved soon.

Paging Ahmad Bradshaw ... As promised, free agent RB Jason Snelling is in the building meeting with #NYG coaches right now. Stay tuned.

Randy being Randy

Just wait, the Week 1 Bengals game will be interrupted when Palmer and Randy walk on the field to the NWO theme. Fans will shake their heads in disgust and then Favre will be inspired to unretire and play for the Seahawks.

Well I seem to be the outlier on this. I never said he wasn't a HoF guy, just questioned whether he was a "slam dunk". In fact, I'm almost certain he won't get in on the first ballot.
