Absolutely, it's part of my excitement/venting. I'll cheer with my friends for about 3 seconds, then I franticly type with as many !!!!!!!!!!!!!!'s as possible.
Indeed but this season I'm going to be less negative.
Too much hatefulness going on.

Namaste, everyone.

Saints signed some chargers scrub safety named Paul Oliver, but more importantly, they re-signed David Thomas. Dude has been awesome for us the last two years.

Found this amusing:

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4681106/cowboys-practice-report-5
It was the first day the Cowboys were in full pads during this training camp, and one thing that was noticed was what we'll call "The Roy Williams drill." In a Thanksgiving Day loss to the New Orleans Saints last year, Williams was running down field toward a possible touchdown when he was stripped from behind by safety Malcom Jenkins. The Saints recovered the ball at the Cowboys 11 and would go on to win. Well, Saturday afternoon, ball carriers were positioned to run through two sets of players who were trying to strip them of the ball. They run through the first set of players positioned near the hash marks. Then once the ball carrier gets past the first group, two more players chase the player from behind trying to strip the the ball before he gets into the end zone.

Are the Saints running the Marshawn Lynch drill?
No, but that's why they drafted Cameron Jordan and got Aubrayo . Also, the main problem last year was that pretty much every linebacker worth a shit in an already thin linebacker corps was injured and out for that Seahawks game (and most of the season as well). Then Harper decided to have the worst game of his career with a bunch of scrub linebackers who really needed his assistance. I honestly don't see that happening again with players like Martez Wilson, Jonathan Casillas and Vilma back there with actual pressure up front. They had to do something and they definitely did. Excited to see the defense at work. Lots of speed back there in the middle which was sorely missing before. Shaun also completely dwarfs our next biggest DT which is Ellis.

Also, I'm thinking were going to have an epic fight on our hands. Two beasts, one number.

Why was Franklin let go from S.F.? Curious to know. Not sure I'd call him a "beast", but Rogers sure is. CLE let him go because they have a better stout DT already: Ahtyba Rubin

As for the Giants and the Osi situation, I would be thrilled if they can land an early pick (2nd) and TE John Carlson. If it's 3rd, that's fine. Getting Carlson would be an upgrade at the TE position and a 3rd is still a viable slot.

If Boss goes to OAK that's unfortunate, although I still don't know why he hasn't signed. Out pricing himself is my estimation. Zach Miller is the TE I wanted from the get-go, too bad he'll have garbage throwing him the ball (unless Pete tanks for Luck).

Brady and Bellicheat probably made some kind of blood sacrifice. It draws them out of their holes.

His name is Belichick, there's no reason to put two L's there unless you're a total tool.

Give the proper respect to the leader in wins among active coaches.

No, it's Belidick.

Now that's respect.

Nice write up from Lance Z on how important Leach was to Arians nsuccess. National media needs to read and realize that while good to have Foster ran BETTER in one back sets.

So Leach is just a damn hamburger.

This is exactly what I was saying when the Leach sweepstakes were going on. I saw more of Arian Foster in single back 2 TE or 3 WR sets than anything else last season. Once they got Owen Daniels I thought Foster was more effective than earlier in the year because Daniels is such a threat in the passing game (joke's on defenses tho, he wasn't even adequately running routes until a couple of weeks after he came back from the knee).

Lance also makes this point, which I can't say I agree with:

Arian Foster runs with some of the best tempo you will ever see from a zone back and it allows him to remain patient when the Texans run out of the 2RB sets (Leach in the game). Leach made great reads and great blocks and Foster worked extremely well with Leach. There is no denying any of this….. it is fact. With that said, I reached out to Aaron Schatz from FootballOutsiders.com to find out how Foster did with Leach in and out of the game. His answer:

“Believe it or not, he had more ypc with only one back in the game: 5.5ypc with 1 RB, 4.7 ypc with 2 RB. But part of that was the situation — he ran with 1 RB more often when there were more yards to go. When it comes to total efficiency, considering the situation, Foster was basically the same either way.

It does make you wonder, though, if Leach is as worthwhile as people think.”

Indeed. I know what Leach brings to the game, but Foster averaged .8 more yards per carry when Leach wasn’t in the game. No matter what qualifiers we put in, it doesn’t change the fact that Foster was successful when he touched the ball with or without Leach in the game.

And I don't agree because the Texans' passing game is so effective, of course D's will defend the pass before the run if an extra wideout or TE is in.

Further, their zone blocking scheme is more effective when that extra defender isn't hovering over the LOS reading the FB, that's what it's designed for. It makes sense that when defenses came out in Nickel or had an LB/S out in space covering a second TE that their running game was as productive. The Giants used a lot of similar principles when Tiki was around btw.

Do you comment on his blog? He's pretty good about replying to good comments.

Heard on KFan this morning that McKinnie reported to the Vikes at 400 pounds, and was placed on the NFI list because doctors were concerned about his cholesterol. How the fuck can you call yourself a professional athlete if you put on 65 pounds in one offseason?

Giants re-sign HB Andre Brown. Curious to see how he performs this time around. Sucks before he got injured which ruined any chance he had.

Was he hanging out with Casey Hampton all offseason?

Was actually thinking of responding to this one. Thanks again to you and D for putting me on to Lance. Dude is a wealth of info, especially on offense.

I thought you were done here?
I am done in the respect that I won't be posting here 50 times a day (30 of which would be posts about how great Ben is and/or about how evil the Pats are). I honestly am barely following any football news and I don't have the time or patience to follow this thread either, it just moves way too fast for me now. Obviously the quality of the thread is suffering without that input but you guys will have to soldier on and someone will have to pick up the Steelers flag* and carry on in my place.

I am still going to pop in though (usually on my iPhone which is the worst way to post online) when I can.

Some good news though, I think my wife is going to spend a few weeks at her mom's house in the fall so for those are missing their usual bionic77 fix you are sure to get some more posts when I have the house to myself!

On the day he was leaving for his new job as defensive coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals, Horton parked his car -- a red 1999 Mercedes Benz SL500 convertible roadster -- in front of the team's office complex and went inside to say goodbye to the cafeteria staff.

When he saw Matthews, he said to him, "Hey, I need a favor from you. How much money you have in your pocket?"

Matthews said, "I got $20."

Horton took the money, looked at it and said to Matthews, "Sold for $20!"

And then Horton handed Matthews the keys to his car and told him to keep it.

Miss ya Horton. Good guy.

Scary stuff. I hope he's ok and it's nothing too serious.

LeSean Mccoy was also apparently injured at practice as well (hamstring). I'm surprised we're not seeing more conditioning related injuries with training camps really getting underway.

For those wondering what he's talking about:
Not only that, but Laws was carted off to the locker room with an injury and Abiamiri was being looked at for something (but that guy is always nicked up). Hope the Patterson thing is just dehydration/heat-related and nothing more serious. Still scary though.

It is always crazy how many players get seriously injured in training camp.

I always feel for the guys who don't have any kind of contract past that year because they are totally fucked in the current salary structure of the NFL.

Same, but at the same time I would hope we'd be avoiding (and any teams) that, since it's so easy to prevent.

He turned into a Miami socialite. Google him the first things you'll see are party flyers and music videos lol

Holy shit Eagles got Ronnie Brown too. I hear he took the Eagles over Rams, Chargers, and Ravens who offered bigger contracts. The Dream Team continues to build!

Has it cooled down in the Northeast yet? Saints players have to pretty much practice two-a-days in sweltering Louisiana heat with high humidity the whole time and it pretty much feels like being in a sauna. They have to practice in black jerseys too. Kind of prepares them for those really hot outdoor games in southern stadiums, but it doesn't prepare them for super cold games.

(Quick look at a weather website for Lousiana): 31c, heat index is 39c. So...probably not

Right before he retired on Eagles Live Dave was saying that he had heard from multiple team sources that they were interested in Moss. I am a bit surprised he wouldnt want to play on more year with the Eagles.

I was trying to explain to my brother how much of a steal this was. Kept saying See, Ronnie's shit. Rest of the league knows it.

I thought two-a-days are gone in the new CBA.

Those big boys after an off-season with burgers and tacos need one endurance drill to colapse :) In all fairness, it was hot and the guy is big, and it's the start of camp so...

As long as he gets immediate medical attention, he should be alright in a few days. We don't need another Stringer case :(

Ok. Should've just said all that in the first place.

Burkholder says dehydration can cause seizures, but will await tests before saying whether that was the reason. #eagles

Eagles say Patterson has no history of seizures. He did lose consciousness for a period of time, per trainer Rick Burkholder.

Patriots please pick up Osi!
Haven't wanted a player this bad since the Peppers rumors.
I enjoy watching Defense more than offense and these last few years have been torture here in New England on third down. I miss the days of expecting a huge defensive play nearly every play.
