Holy shit, it's amazing the hoops ESPN will go through for their Romo/Cowboys love.

After admitting that scoring was down to ~15-16 without Romo there, they trumpeted his return to glory and the energy he brings to the team in a 14-10 victory.

:lol . I love being in Canada sometimes because I don't have to listen to ESPN.

I was around some last year whining about how much Vince Young sucked.

Anyway, I live in a suburb of Nashville, and with the season the Titans are having, a lot of people around here are talking about football that usually don't. An Ethiopian guy I work with named Getu was talking to me about yesterday's game. It was amusing.

What part of nashville? I'm from bretnwood/ davidson.

Isn't the rest of your schedule pretty nice? Who are your potential spoilers?

Anyone is a potential spoiler, you know? Take Detroit for example: leave it up to an undefeated Titans (just hypothetically if we beat the Jets) to lose to the only winless team there is. Just saying.

And FMG there's no reason to post that picture. *cries*

I didn't like Tomlin's call to go for it on 4th down near the goal line or the decision to kick the 51 yard field goal (when they all know no one has ever made a FG of that length and there is a reason for that!).

I agree 1000%. Horrible calls. Again, Tomlin sometimes makes these decisions that just boggle your mind. But, he did well with the end of the game. After the holding call, take the 3. But do it on 3rd down just in case your shitty snapper and shitty holder/punter fuck it up. That was a good move. This team still lacks any identity or consistency on offense though.

Our offense still sucks, but we are at least giving Ben a chance with the shorter passes. There is no room for error using the dink and dunk, because we have no chance on 3rd and long against anyone. But I don't really see any other alternative considering our injury and personnel situation.

Wouldn't he still be under contract with the Falcons?
I thought they let him go?

The same way he "loved" Spleeny!

Getu: So when is the Steve Young coming back?
Me: Huh?
Getu: When is Steve Young coming back to play for us?
Me: Ohh, you mean Vince Young. I don't think he's coming back this season since we're winning with the other guy.
:lol You know what, oddly enough, I've heard someone make that mistake before too.

how could McNabb get up in front of that many cameras and people and not be embarrassed one bit to admit he didn't know the OT rules, and then his "I'd hate to see what would happen in the playoffs or super bowl" line. What a moron.
You can't be serious. :lol :lol :lol

Well I'm curious, what would happen in the playoffs or superbowl? I mean there HAS to be a rule that says the game cant end in a tie in the playoffs or even superbowl right? RIGHT?

I honestly dont know.

You should be able to find the video or audio online somewhere.

I heard a tape of it in the radio.

I am kind of interested in finding out what else McNabb doesn't know about the game of football. Like the coin toss rules, the line of scrimmage, the tuck rule, when possession occurs, the inbounds rule, etc...

Thankfully McNabb will never be there again so he won't have to worry about it.

They play another period.

:lol It's funny because this title works for next week too. I mean fine Mcnabb has always been dumb but how the hell does the coach not even know they're aren't 2 OTs? Gotta love them eagles! :lol

I have to say, as much as I hate cris collinsworth I liked what he said yesterday where if any time during the history of football if there was ever a game that neither team deserved to win this was the game.

Wellington said:

Simple enough. Is that the official rule? Just play till someone scores. (since the NFL for some reason has sudden death.)

Well it's still sudden death. But ya the rule is that someone has to score to win in the postseason.

a lot of players came out and said they did not know.

its why all of the defensive players were celebrating like they won after cinci missed the FG.

trent cole, quinten mikell, and some scrubs admitted they didnt know.

westbrook mcnabb and avant admitted they didnt know.

i am sure reid did not either. he punted with less than 2 min to go on a 4rth and 1.

but then again even if he went for it it would have been a pass.

as dumb as mcnabb's quote is....thats after the fact and it did play into how they played in the OT.

what cost them is the 18 3rd and shorts they had on which they passed the whole time.

what cost them is the fact the bengals said they knew not only that the plays would be all passing but they knew the routes. how you ask? because they studied film and said the eagles basically run the same 14yd curl on every play (thats madden esque dumb).

what cost them is the fact that reid decided that in a close game with high winds that he would force mcnabb to pass 58 times and rush only 14 times. and of those 14 carries buckhalter, the backup RB who has been very effective, would only get 1 carry when it was obvious westbrook was doing nothing.

what cost them is the fact that reid for the 9 out of 10 yrs has refused to acquire a WR who demands double coverages/attention when he loves to pass so much.

i am sick of philly fans too. all of them are jumping on mcnabb and his statement. NEWS FLASH MOST FOOTBALL PLAYERS ARE DUMB. REAL DUMB. i honestly do not care about that.

what i care about is that mcnabb was having probably his worst game as a professional and reid kept passing into the wind. what i care about is that from week to week there is absolutely no change in the gameplan. in fact i wonder if they ever even look at the tape of other teams. cause they never ever change anything.

i would make a million dollar bet right now that come against the ravens this coming sunday they will once again line up in shotgun to start and pass pass pass. this is the dumbest most stubborn head coach i have ever seen and it seems to be trickling down to the players.

now reid is getting exposed. mcnabb made him early on with his plays on his legs and escaping defenders. the defense that ray rhodes had assembled made him when the offense was stalled. JJ as the coordinator saved his butt many times. but now everything is falling apart and its just painfully obvious that reid has not kept up with the times. he still thinks its 2003 and the rest of the NFC East sucks and you don't need a big back.

i still cant believe that they refuse to run by choice and not because of personnel.
i still cant believe that they refuse to stop the run by choice.

if lurie ever wanted to change things up and shake the organization now would be the time. fire reid, promote moreninghdghgff to interim head coach and put everyone on notice.

Are the Eagles seriously thinking about cutting McNabb after the season? Putting aside how dumb that is ... don't give the Vikings any chances to become good! Come on!

Wait are you saying McNabb would help the Vikings...?

I just watched the Sportscenter segment on the Steelers-Chargers game. The vice president of officiating said they got it wrong, the TD should have stood. Basically there WAS a forward pass on that second lateral, the short lateral before the one that was fumbled, which I suspected yesterday, which is why the penalty was called. So the official got it correct at first saying the penalty was declined and the TD stood.

They discussed though, and incorrectly applied that forward pass penalty to the final lateral that Polomalu picked up and scored on, and since it hit the ground they thought it was dead as an illegal incomplete forward pass. But that wasn't the forward pass, it was the pitch before it, so it should have stood, and the Steelers should have won 17-10 (or 18-10 if they had to kick the PAT.)

Kinda complicated to explain, and it really doesn't matter ... I just thought it was noteworthy because Sportscenter said two thirds of the people who bet on this game took the Steelers and gave up the points, and if the officials got it right they would have won. But instead, they fucked it up, so the Steelers didn't cover. I can only imagine some of the irate gamblers right now. :lol

(snip)
Weren't they on their own 20 or so? Playing for a tie there would be pretty in line with the typical conservative NFL mentality.

I'll repeat: it boggles the mind that NFL players wouldn't know this. I'm still not sure I believe them. :lol

PS: PACKERS OFFENSIVE LINE WELCOME HOME

A big back does not all of a sudden make you a power running football team. You need the fullback/OL to compliment it. When Tiki used to be our RB, I remember the OL asking to run the ball more because they just loved mauling people when they got a chance. For whatever reason a lot of people in the media thought that our zone blocking scheme would not be effective with Jacobs' running style.

How could a team refuse to stop the run by choice? Before the Giants game you guys were a top ten D against the run.

this is the same OL that had great success last yr with westbrook and yrs past. yeah andrews is out with injury but its not like this is a rebuilt new line.

the difference is the complete lack of a running game because the coach refuse to run the ball. the eagles have needed a big back ever since they let duce walk. he would always land fwd and pick up a yd when needed. since he left they have neglected that area.

the OL is pretty good pass blocking. usually mcnabb has all day back there. even the giants did not sack him. the problem is predictability. all the teams know they wont run. the OL spends the whole day backpeddling pass blocking and then on very rare occasions its asked to run block. its not a switch you can turn on and off.

i think more than the LINE or the lack of a real FB, its the lack of a brain in andy reids head that holds the running game back.

case in point: they started the game yesterday with three straight runs. 3 and out. one drop, one bad pass, and one pass for a loss.

2nd drive they pass 2 out of the 3 plays. he calls one one running play and even if it picks up 5 yds he will not go back to the running play until another drive or two.

its absolutely batshit insanity. and its not just this season. its been like this esp since TO was here that one magnificent season.

im sorry but i feel like not only is it frustrating knowing these things...i feel like im trapped in this bizzaro world where the rest of the media/analysts do not call reid out.

just last week madden was slurping him on air. no one ever calls him out for his stupidity.

i cant be the only to see this.

not to flood the forums with my disgust but here is a nice little nugget:

in the pregame warmups ohco cinco lined up with the eagles WRs and ran a route...mcnabb passed to him....after catching the ball chad knelt on the ground pointed up and thanked god.

hahaha poor chad. we want you too but too bad when you come to the eagles, if you ever do, it will be kolb throwing to you.

hmm i wonder which team will go after mcnabb in the offseason. i don't see the eagles trading him to some team within the division. some team in the AFC.

Considering NFL stats can issue corrections later in the week, I suppose they are more irate at this point that the league can't be bothered to fix the score after the fact. :lol

(I would certainly welcome the +8 fantasy points.)

True, but most of them are dumb when it comes to things other than football. But a good many do have football smarts. And usually those that are especially football smart tend to be QBs. Not always, but usually. Obviously, McNabb does not fall into that category. But I'm with you on Reid and the coaching staff. Not only are they calling the game wrong, they're doing it while not realizing, or caring, that their players don't fully understand the situation and circumstances. And that's all on them.

Look like I won't make the playoffs in my fantasy league. :( I'm 4-6 after this week. Fuck my wide receiver core.

In the GAF procrastinator's league? Yeah, Toomer and Mason aren't exactly 100% starts. You're still favored next week vs. Meier though, so you have a shot - the #6 team is going to be 4-5-1.

How could they think it ends in a tie when they Bombed it at the end of OT? Why waste a play if there is another quarter.

because in 2OT it starts over like it does when the 4th quarter ends and goes into overtime. i think?

Already been answered, but a couple years back there was a 2OT game between the Panthers and Rams in the NFC playoffs, I think. Well, not a couple years back, but it was the year the Panthers wound up going to the Super Bowl and then lost to the Cheatriots.

Warning: everyone on Countdown picked the Bills. The only one that didn't was Keyshawn who picked opposite of everyone as a desperate gamble to get out of last place.

Just putting that out there!
