it's like in Tecmo Bowl when the defense picks the right play.

Damn, you're exactly right! :lol That's why 90% of the time you'd call that pro T flare or whatever it was called and do the quick throw to the tight end....that play was money.

hopefully the new GM trades Roy Williams. he deserves a better home

wonder if millen goes back to working at fox :lol

If he was fired and didn't resign (reports aren't completely clear which happened) then he's entitled to his full salary, including another 10 million dollars which he's forfeit if he resigned. My guess is he won't need to work for a LONG while. Still, he's GONE! he's actually GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

woodchuck said:
i'm not sure if it's two games or two weeks. he may be only missing one game since they have a bye this week

yeah, one game, two weeks.

damn. is there any reason millen was getting paid so much (besides the stupidity of the owner)

Ahhh, we should feel bad for Matt Millen. He was truly the face of that organization.

Why isn't there [backhanded comment] brackets, GAF?

WCF tends to show intense loyalty to people, whether they deserve it or not. There... really is no excuse for paying Millen as much as he made.

Plaxico suspended 2 games by the Giants for doucheyness.
Argh. Just let him play against Seattle and bench him against Cleveland. After our recent history with Seattle I want to fucking drop 70 on them, and that would only be helped if Burress plays.

Well, whatever team rule he broke, I am at least glad they are taking a hard line stance, just like the Panthers. No one on the team is above the law.

I think he skipped practice

and didn't answer a couple of phone calls from the team (is what I heard on ESPN).

He's actually a pretty good golfer with a ridiculously low handicap.

so, would you say that Romo has a slight handicap?

1 game. They are going into their bye week so it is only 1 game. w/e, I'll just play Engram that week if he's healthy.

Excellent, the Giants will get their first loss. :D

As for Millen's firing, can't wait to see what whytemyke has to say. It will be legen--wait for it.....

DARY.

With his stigma, Fox wouldn't touch him right now.

actually its all about the ratings. and right now he will be sought after by all the networks (nfl, cbs, nbc, espn, and fox) just so they can ask him questions about "what went wrong?" and "who really is to blame?"

Whytemyke will be rejoicing like no other until he watches his team play on sunday

I dunno, even the team might suddenly play better knowing the douchebag in charge is gone. Plus the fans will be so excited to take in the air of a stadium without Millen the energy might just will the Lions to a win. :lol

Not just that, but knowing the next GM won't have the insane job security Millen has, so they won't be as tolerant of losing, plus they may want to bring in their own guys anyway so they only way to keep their job is to WIN. Of course, many, many, many won't play well and won't win but it's a nice dream.

Maybe in the short term, but I'd be very surprised to see him back in a booth any time soon. The man has pretty much been a laughing stock to NFL fans for the past 7 years, and no one wants to have a failed GM/President on their staff talking about team moves and evaluating talent.

Couldn't some qbs get around that?

I could have swore that back in the day I could use Jeff George to backpedal like 50 yards and then throw a 90 yard dart for a TD.

Man that game was so realistic. I miss Tecmo and Super Tecmo Bowl.

Are you serious?

Terry Donahue, who essentially destroyed the Niners in exactly 2 years, got hired right after he was fired by us. :lol

There's plenty of guys who have fucked up tons of times who get hired by the NFL media.

they become the experts you see on tv. like merril hodge or sean salisbury.

The final confirmation: He was fired, didn't resign:

An official with the Detroit Lions has confirmed that president Matt Millen has been fired as team president today.

While nothing is official yet, a source close to the situation said chief operating officer Tom Lewand and assistant general manager Martin Mayhew will split Millen's duties for the rest of the season. A permanent replacement for Millen is not expected to be named until after the end of the 2008 season.

At this point, the Lions have not announced whether a press conference will take place announcing the firing.

Happy days are here again!

i actually liked millen the comentator!
Yeah, IIRC he was pretty good as a commentator. If he goes back to doing that it'll be weird listening to him, though.

Congratulations, Lions fans! It's finally over ...

SB ring off the winning TD, new contract, 3-0 start....what makes Plax tick? Why does it seem he is so unhappy?

Isn't there a rule somewhere stating each team is only allowed one Roy Williams each?

EDIT: Sorry about the delay getting the prediction results posted. I had a baby last week so I've been pretty busy (the Eagles are undefeated when my son watches the game with me!). I will have the standings posted soon.

I'm wondering about Kyle he just reinjured his foot and Dallas signed another guard from the vikes I think, his time could be up in Dallas. Kinda of sucks tho I wasn't too big on the guy when he got here but he has performed pretty well since landing in Dallas.

Kosier will never be a pro-bowler but he's a solid hard worker. I believe he's played both guard and tackle but personally I'd rather have him at guard, I think that's a better position for him. Plus the Lions desperately need Oline help (as usual) our secondary has been playing HORRIBLY but that's not going to be fixed with an aging (and overrated) Roy W.
