I had all my guys ranked by POSITION.. not overall. I had like all my c's... then my lw... and so on. God fucking dammit

I had my flaky Russian wingers mixed up and thought Koltzov was the one staying overseas and that Morozov was NA because he wasn't signed yet. Basically I fucked up by leaving Morozov on my list and then picking him in a hurry when I was running out of time. As soon as the waiver period is over I'll swap him for some other bench warmer... but like I said during the draft having it before training camp even starts is going to be tough because it's difficult to predict how some teams are going to do and there's a whole month yet for guys to get hurt, holdout or skip off to Switzerland for a year.

I really like my team (of course, everyone loves their team right after the draft) but my D is a bit thin. I ranked over 130 guys but for some reason only about 20 were dmen and they all went very fast.

Man what a hockey weekend.

First I play a best of seven, best of seven(you need 4 series wins to win the overall series, yeah its nuts) in nhl 2k5 with a friend and win 4-2.

Then I hear Theodore gets signed for a long term deal.


Then I do this draft thing and score big time with Theodore and Kipper(im a huge goalie fan)

and now im watching playoff action, stars vs oilers....in OT.

My team actually turned our decent compared to say... kingpens team.. who i guess wasnt there either.

I'm assuming he picked Crosby with his first rounder? =P

I'm not an Oilers nor a Stars fan by any stretch of the imagination, but Oilers/Stars is easily one of the best playoff rivalries from the last decade. What service are you using to watch these old playoff games anyway?
 
God damn it, WHY did you (whoever is running the roto league) change the SC_G from W, SHO to W, GAA, S%, SHO the DAY OF THE FUCKING DRAFT? I purposely ranked all the goalies low knowing that I could get shitty goalies in the later rounds that were still going to win a lot of games since it wasn't taking save percentage into account or anything like that. But now it is and I'm stuck with fucking Cloutier and Osgood as my starting goalies. Wonderful.

If you wanted to change it a little advance warning would have been nice so I could have changed my preranks before the draft, BAH!!!

Edit: Can't really complain though, considering that I've never played fantasy hockey before and wasn't even able to be at the draft, I think I got a pretty badass team. I got potential 100 pt players with each of my top 4 picks. :)

Yeah stars vs oilers is always great playoff action. I caught this game half way so I dont know witch year this was from.(I think 2001, Salo and Belfour were the goalies)It was game 3 of the series.

Anyways Oilers are down by 2 goals late so they pull Salo and can you fucking beleive it oilers score 2 goals in the last 50 seconds....In Edmonton so the place is going NUTS!, the structure of that arena must have been buckling...Fucking crazy game.

Too bad stars scored with 20 seconds left in the first OT...

And im watching the NHL network, witch is quite possibly put on the air waves by God himself.

There now showing top ten playoff matchups between montreal and buffallo from the 90s.

Again, FUCKING A.

Don't remember exactly but it was when Nieuwendyk had the whole side of the net open for a tap in and Cujo instinctively kicked the pad out to totally rob him.

P.S. Maybe he gloved it. I totally forget now...
 
I watched the NHL Classics an hour ago that had the Jets/Wings series from '96. Nice Jets retrospective at the end too. Kinda hard to watch it all, I had to skip the recap of game 6. :(

No, the big moment was the puck coming in front, Nieuwendyk shooting for the open left side, and then disbelief as cujo threw his glove in and ROBBED him point blank.

I still have that clip on my drive.

Yeah saw that too...heartbreaking. The Bulin Wall was amazing in that series, 50 shots in that one game, robbing chances left and right like there was no tomorow, what a great performance.

Seeing the "white out" again was great too, it was really was a sight to see.
If there was one franchise I could bring back, The Jets would be that franchise.

..ok well better make it two franchises' so I can bring back the Nords too.

Upload it dude. I think Mike was right. Marchant scored the OT series winner moments later.

P.S. Another one I remember was Kirk McLean robbing Robert Reichel with his pad. Don't remember the year or the series game. That save just sticks out.

Detroit/Colorado was the best in the past decade.
 
The best playoff rivalries I can remember since the early to mid 90's are:

Edmonton / Dallas and Detroit / Colorado.

Toronto / Ottawa and Montreal / Boston have also been good.

Now where's that clip, wolf!

Because I'm a douchebag. Seriously, I thought I had set it to the default cats, for some reason it wasn't (as I was reminded during the draft) I'm really sorry, and I hope it doesn't seriously affect anyone. Tedesco's league is coming up if people are totally unhappy with this :(

Well don't worry about it. Its not that big a deal or anything. I was just mad cause I thought maybe you did it on purpose and were one of the people that got Brodeur/Nabokov or Theodore/Kiprusoff with the top 3 picks. :lol Guess not.

And the last few Habs/Bruins match ups have been great for that underdog winning, great goaltending, huge controversy, david vs goaliath, good guys vs bad guys, HARD HITTING SOMETIMES JUST SOMETIMES MIRACLES ACTUALLY COME TRUE feeling.

You're confused here, I said dem was the next GM of the Oilers, not fifty is the next GM of the Penguins.

Just watched that clip, thanks Wolf. I knew Marchant scored soon after, but I didn't know it was on the very next shift.. shorthanded!

Bure had one of the greatest clutch goals of all time that game ...I mean you really have to have some massive Balls to go for DEKES in a 7th game OT of a playoff series. He fucking owned that goalie.( i think mike vernon)
 
I had a gif of that Cujo save, but it's on my own computer at home. :P

It wasn't that great of a gif though...I'm sure there's a better one somewhere...

I saw it again on the NHL network a few months ago. I wasn't expecting it to happen or anything since I forgot when it happened. It was an open net, a definate goal to win the whole series, and then Cujo dives over and makes the save of the playoffs.

But I think Khabibulin's save off of Gelina's shot last year was the best save in a long time. How he managed to kick that leg out so fast...it's incredible. I wish I had the whole final downloaded...it's funny that games 6 and 7 weren't on the torrent sites since it was Flames fans probably recording them and putting them up.
 
Hell yeah I picked Crosby with the first pick. That guy is going to be a point machine with Mario(if healthy)/ Recchi and Pallfy on the other side. Easily a 100 point guy this season if healthy...

By the way, if anyone wants to trade some pens to me, I'm open to hearing all offers.

By the way, Ryan Smyth is on the block, I'm not an oiler fan and am willing to dish him off.
 
God, a GAF FHL league would totally own with the hockey fans we have here. Sucks so bad I don't have a license for the simulator :(

You've never tasted what an hockey league is until you've played in a real FHL league.
 
How about we all purchase a FHL license? If we're 20 GMS, it would cost us around $1.25 each. We could all chip in and then start a league. We'd have so much fun.
 
Who'd be in for an FHL league? I guarantee you we'd have a blast.

We'd do a lottery draft, at least 20 teams. And a big prospect draft combining Crosby and Ovechkin draft.

20 GMs, $1.25 each. 20 teams, only 1 stanley cup champion.

Btw let's reserve our teams as we go, obviously I will pick the Montreal Canadiens. We need to be 10 eastern and 10 western teams, it's the only constraint in picking the teams. Dem, I guess you'll take the Oilers?
