What a game, what a day.

I was just blown away from everything. The atmosphere just hits you like a truck, its almost overwhelming.

From talking to other hab fans before the game, to walking threw the section gate and seeing the arena for the first time...man.

As the players hit the ice for the warmup, I suddenly became so dissapointed when I realized there was no Koivu, no Kovalev, no Zednick, no Bonk, no Ryder, no Souray, NO THEODORE.

I felt like some leaf fan had come up to me and punched me straight in the gut.

But despite the fact that I had come to see the Montreal Canadiens and instead got the Hamilton Bulldogs, I put that away and still had a great time.

Seeing Bulis blast it home on Racine for the first habs goal I have ever seen live was fucking great.

There was also a fight that some hab player won so that was a plus.

And it was fun to see the entire bulding get on their feet and go nuts for stumpy on his penalty shot only to see him shoot high and wide.

Overall great night, im too tired to go on but ill probably have a lot more to say tomorow.

Habs won't win against the leafs tonight, they're going full on with prospects so no one will have to buy donuts.

Latendresse
Kostitsyn
Locke
Hossa
Chipchura
Hainsey
Streit

etc...

Are all playing tonight. No Theodore, no Koivu, no Kovalev, no Zednik, no Ryder still, no Bonk etc..

Every Hab fan I ever hear from tells me how "stacked" the Habs are in future talented stars, then when those future stars play you claim they can't win. I thought Latendresse was supposed to be dominating pre-season games? I guess the Legend Of Latendresse (LOL) is over for now.

not to mention these younger players tend to play harder than veterans in preseason since they want to prove themselves and hopefully make it in the team.

C'mon Wolf, way to backpeddal. You were drooling all over Latendresse just like the next Habs fan, now all of a sudden you're disappointed that they played a bunch of rookies? I bet you were hoping that Latendresse pulled some miracle move on the shootout so you could come onto the board and say OMFGLOLOLOL WHAT A MOVE SUPERSTAR IN THE MAKING I'M CREAMING MY PANTS WHAT A DRAFT PICK BY GAINEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOP 3 PICK!!!! LOLOL OMFG!!!!!

Instead, he fired a weak dribbler. What a talent.

Notice how fast those habs fans have forgotten about that top talent of 2003 (... if only it wasnt for those darned siezures!)... Andrei Kostsitsyn.

Unimpressive total.

Habs wins 2 pre-season games = lol stupid habs fans, it's just pre-season

Habs lose 1 pre-season game = lol stupid habs fans you lost a game after all that optimism

How many times has Boston heard that?

Also, you Eastern Conference dumbasses are being retarded. When fucking DEM looks like the sane voice of reason amongst the lot of you, you know there's something wrong.

Oh I know what I posted. Just 2 pages ago I wrote:

"That's what pre-season is for. You get up to game speed, make stupid mistakes etc etc. There's little to no intensity that you'll get in regular season/playoffs."

Does that sound like I really put much stock in the pre-season? I was taunting the hab fans who were praising the 18 year old kid for having 1 good game as if it really meant something. I can tell it bother hab fans when I critcize the team so I guess I better stop.

I still love all you hab fans as human beings, I just disapprove your choice of team to back.

Good god that makes no sense at all. Even if you're stacked with good young prospects, that wont make you win in the big league. Look at Washington, they have the 2nd best prospect pool behind Pittsburgh and that wont make them win this year in the NHL.

...and then you posted this

In other words, you are implying that our prospect sucks because they lost one pre-season games against an NHL team.

Bah nevermind, god I cant wait for the real season to start so we can stop arguing about meaningless crap. They really should start the season in september, at the same time it'll mean that we wont have to deal with the agony known as NHL in july

Was watching Pavel Bure videos, good god. It reminded me of how fast that guy was. He wasn't the fastest player without the puck, but he was the fastest skater and stickhandler WITH the puck. Insane, insane speed.

How I miss thee :(

I would have agreed with you a few years ago but right now, one player could do it and it's Crosby. He doesn't really compare to anyone either, he's like a bunch of top notch players all roled into one.

We'll have to wait and see!

I gotta disagree. Crosby could be and probably will be a better player than Bure, but so was Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier, etc. Doesn't mean they were more entertaining or exciting. Bure's out of nowhere speed and flashy goals were fucking beautiful, and he was small too. He was like a mix of everything good from Theoron Fleury and Ilya Kovulchuk.

Crosby is a bit like Bure though. While he's not as fast, he's one of the best skaters I've ever seen in years and his ability to get top speed in two strides is just out of this world and so are his movements at top speed. He stickhandles the puck while skating as if he would be standing still. Add all that to his vision and anticipation of play and you will get a very exciting player.

dem: If I'd have to compare Kessel to a player I would compare him to Selanne. Not the Selanne of the last seasons but the Selanne that entered the NHL.

One breakaway doesn't mean much :P
He has to get used to the speed of the NHL first, give him time.

One breakaway? I'm talking back to junior. Just doesnt seem like much of a natural goal scorer.

I thought you were making an allusion to his breakaway in his first game :P

Crosby can score and pass, he's the complete package. Bure on the other hand was a pure deadly scorer.

Like I said, it's hard to compare Crosby to anyone, he's like a mix of a lot of top notch players.

There will never be another player as exciting as Bure. That guy was fucking nuts, and I'm not just saying that as a Canucks fan.

I remember watching the Leafs/Canucks series in 1994 and noting how deadly this guy was when he was on the ice. As a fan you'd just sit back, shitting your pants because you just knew this guy would drive you nuts and be a force all night long.

You know, the moment I heard the NHL was implementing shootouts, all I could think was "damn, the Canucks could really use Bure back in the lineup now." When he was on, goaltenders were sweating. Does anybody remember that nasty self-pass breakaway goal he had? (what was it, 96? or before the ACL damage in 95?) Half the media labelled him as a show-off, but damn if it wasn't fun to watch.

Hmm, it's only the pre-season but I'd still like to see the Pens do a lot better than they are right now. They're barely getting 20 shots a game and that's just unacceptable with all of their offensive power.

I think i'm going to eat my words tonight. :lol Habs are dominating so far. Souray scores 2 minutes in, with Kovalev and Koivu getting the assists. And all 3 of these players were missing last game.

going to the canucks / ducks game tonight! first preseason game i've ever been to- i'm not expecting much, but it's going to be nice to be in GM Place watching a hockey game again

Agreed...Bure was just magic to watch. Nobody would thrive more in the "new" NHL, provided it's back long term.

Too bad Crosby cant actually score on a breakaway =P

That's ok, neither could The Great One. Despite the beat down Crawford took for not using Gretzky in the penalty shootout in '98 (and it was justifed considering he used Ray fucking Borque instead :lol), he was always pretty average on breakaways. Even Peter Ing stopped his ass cold on a penalty shot. :lol

That's why you don't talk shit about preseason games my dear...it doesn't mean a hill of beans until the last game or two when both teams are using full lineups. Even then it'll take until the new years for these teams to properly adjust to the way the game is being called now. Of course by the time they've made the adjustment, they'll be going on break for Torino. :lol

BTW Mike, if you see Matthew Good at the game, tell him his best of CD/DVD rocks.

I expect a very high playoff spot as well. The team still has budget to add to their team during the season...

The new era has begun. Crosby just put in his first goal in a Penguin uniform (even though it is preseason...)

Crosby scoring is good and everything, but I'm more worried about the team as a whole right now. I'll feel better once the Pens actually start winning a few games in a row.

No reason to be worried, they just have to work out the kinks and rust of not playing together, and some of the players not really playing in a competitive nature for over a year.

Crosby-Recchi -Leclair is already showing huge promise. Lemieux- Malone and Pallfy has a ways to go, but it will come around.

They need to quit taking so many penalties though.

T-Bo looks okay... Fleury looks like he is playing pretty good. It will be really sad if they screw him out of his bonus money again and shuttle him down to AHL again. He has a huge bonus clause that kicks in after he plays 25 games I think. I think if they do that, they might be burning a bridge with Fleury and he will bolt first chance he gets in Free Agency. I say they should just pay the kid and have him split the season with T-Bo. If I were Fleury, I'd be pissed that there is another first round pick in town that will get all of his bonus money and not get send to the AHL, yet I am still in limbo about it.... That would really get under my skin.

Lets go Pens!
