Why didn't the game bother telling me that going there was impossible? What the fuck?

The game did tell you, by not allowing you to do it. ;)

Also, for future reference, you can pan the camera with the right thumbstick.

Yup. In the White Boa when you escape from jail. It's nothing big or extremely difficult at all.

Anyways, I burned myself out playing the game and beating disc 1 over the weekend, so I've kinda been taking a break this week. I'll get back to playing tonight though. I think I'm heading for the Sorceress' Mansion now.
I'm kinda scared ;)

Interesting...I don't think I was ever actually looking at her hands when she was one screen...

I saw it the first time she was introduced on that ship. When she was playing the harp, you can see that she has veins all over.

I really liked this place. Some people had some confusion with it but it was rather simply imo, but yes.. spooky mansion indeed! :D

Also for any of those who have beat the second disc, is it just me or does this disc seem rather short? Or at least shorter then the first disc?

No, but I've read previously you've grinded to insane levels so maybe that's why? Disc 3 is definitely filled with no holds barred action. It's pretty fuckin intense! :lol

I've just got the Nautilus and Sed. Sed is beyond awesome - he's definitely going into my party. Speaking of which,
when will my whole freaking party get back together?
I'm waiting!

Cooke and Mack are still growing on me - Cooke more so. She's so likeable and I feel sorry for her for some reason. Maybe because she's gonna have to
take on the mother role
from
Lirum
. She's a character that's really got me emotionally involved.

It was also VERY interesting to see how Ming
originally lost her memories
as well as the genesis of the ruined village that
Mack & Cooke lived in

Lost Odyssey is definitely up there in my top 10 all time favourites......maybe >_>

Not really. I spent ~14 hours on disc 1 and ~12 hours on disc 2. Of course, ~2 hours on disc 1 was trying to beat the first two bosses (had to do some backtracking, level-up, skill-learning, etc.).

Well that might be it but I did that just before the mansion and someone was saying thats like halfway through the second disc and I was like WHHHHAAAAA???? Just seemed short. i'm at the next dungeon now but its almost over and then I hear all I have left is another town and then the final disc 2 dungeon. Just seems short but maybe it lasts awhile.

I'm uberly looking forward to disc 3 :)

Well I already think this game is going in my upper echelon of top tier rpgs. Not sure where yet but definetly somewhere in my list and I'm still on disc 2. :D

Yeah I spent 11 on the first disc and so far I'm at 20 hours on the second disc but 2 of those was for gringing... so thats 7 hours so far, so yeah by the time I get done it will more then likely be about 10-11 so I guess nevermind. :p

I just started disc 3, feel like I am losing steam a bit. Is Kaim boring anybody else to tears? I just don't find him to be at all compelling.

Hey I just realised something! Slasher_Thrasher! You're the guy who did my screen caps for DMC3 and RE4 back when I was PROPERLY running Capcom Central.:lol :lol :lol

Anyhoo, yeah, Disc 3 is definitely the most intense, with a short and creepy playable
Gongora
segment too.

I'm almost done with Disc 3. I've got one more "part" to complete. I'm about 25 hours in too. I haven't been doing heaps of exploring or anything yet but I hear once you get to Disc 4, the whole world opens up and more exploring is possible, as well as completion of side quests.

I'm loving Kaim. I'm currently only two disk
just got Sarah into the party
in but his evolution from the silent hard ass that he was in the early going. The whole
grandpa
factor is also another coold aspect about his character. He's a whole hell of a lot more interesting than Vaan was, IMHO.

HOLY CRAP DUDE! Thats hilarious and awesome all at the same time. PM me (how ya been?)

Well yeah I am excited to get to disc 4 as well since it opens up tons of sidequests, etc. :)

Yeah Vaan is lame and I agree totally. His character is totally opening up. I'm like, this is not the same Kaim from the start of disc one.

Alright, after ten times of trying this shit... I discovered I didn't have to go through that one hallway with the two robots! I had to press another random switch in the corner of the room.

Bingo.

You probably should've clued in around attempt 2 or 3. I realized pretty quick that getting by those two robots was impossible, and there must be a better way.

It's totally not impossible, I got past them after 5-6 tries. The problem is, it's a dead-end with nothing in it, so there's no reason to do it.

Yeah I know the moment (hour) you're talking about I think. I think it's the most moving scene/s in a game for me ever. I don't know about all this I heard before it came out in the US about the story not being that great - am I just that easy to impress? I'm loving it (on disc 2 now)!

If thats the part he is talking about then god yes! Also I agree. Story is shapping up wonderfully and its one of the most complelling rpgs I've played in a long time. I actually want to keep progressing to see what happens next.

Same here too, I've played from Friday till late Sunday night, but since then I've not bothered to continue. I'm planning to do it tomorrow, I'm in the Sewers now but... I'm starting to lose interest :\

Luckily I didn't get stuck on that section, but I understand where you are coming from. There are a few levels like this in the game that irritate me; I feel a lot of it is due to the camera, it is too rigid a lot of times for me to be able to look around and get oriented.

Well its not the stealth part that irritated me, its the bad gameplay design bit. How was I to realize that I couldn't go there, if the game doesn't give me a hint?

Generally speaking, if I am dying over and over and over again trying to do something in a game I consider that to be a big hint.

Because it's frustrating messing up once and having to get sent back all the way to the beginning... and some parts in stealth games are nothing more than trial and error. The LO stealth part was pretty annoying, especially
the red herring area where you think you need to run past 2 of the detector bots at a time, but nope you just have to hit the switch on the back wall which is obstructed from view until you approach up close
. I hated the stealth part (I hate stealth games aside from MGS for some reason), but the rest of the game kicks ass so far.

The reaction to the "stealth" section is just ridiculous. I got caught on my first try, but I realized I would need to be careful on my second try and completed it with no problem. Being careful means not barging through the place with full run speed and failing to look around at your surroundings.

Paznos

I kept getting caught only because I didn't see the switch(the part where you have to close the door and trap the bot inside) I kept trying to go for the switch closest to the door and I totally missed the first switch and finally saw it lol, other than that it was easy.

Vaxadrin said:

HA! That's hilarious. I genuinely like Kaim as far as angry loner RPG protagonists go, but I hate his god damn hair. I just want him to brush that one strand aside SO BADLY. It's really infuriating. Way more annoying than the diaper baby stealth section.

Just got past the
black cave
.

My only three real complaints so far:

-Not enough music! I've gone through too many towns and caves with no music. :(
-Enemy variety could be better.
-Story gets really cheesy sometimes (
Cooke and Mack's song, anyone?
). Too much melodrama I guess. Hope it gets a bit more serious.

This is currently my favorite song on the soundtrack:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFOsFLjBP94

I get a real Terra/Tina vibe from this song.

I was really hoping there would be more music on this game. Oh well, hopefully we'll get more with the next project.

As for
Mack and Cooke's song
I didn't think it was so bad. It definitely didn't come off as something out of Disney and nowhere near as corny. If it helps, listen to the Japanese version, I'm sure it'll be better.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
Kuran said:
Not true. There's one point where you have to cross two of the bots at once.. and you can't see where the other one is because of the fixed camera, all you have to go on is a the unreadable map. Its terrible.
Dude....the map is the exact same thing as the one in FFX. It's not even remotely unreadable. That part was extremely easy. Just walk past the robot. I didn't get caught once except the first time when I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize I was supposed to be avoiding the robots.

Ahh the sweet sweet music, it only goes to show that the music is sooo good. Anyone ever sit at the map screen to listen to the music more? It actually changes its tune a little bit and I thought it sounded rather bad ass.

I did notice that the enemys in each area are usually boiled down to about 3-4 different types. Doesn't really bother me all that much those since your never in an area for all too long. Granted I'm just at the end of the
black caves
myself, its suitable.

As for the
song I didn't think it was all that bad myself. It was something that reminded them of of their mother and figured it made sense they would sing it to Sarah.

The Inside Track
Holy shit, I know people had told it was difficult, but I did not expect the
Temple of enlightenment
to be that hard. My immortals all have 28 slots each, all equipped with useful skills/protections, but all my party can still be killed in 2 rounds if I'm not careful.
This is where perfects with the rings *really* make a difference.

Just wait until you fight the
Ancient Ghost Magician Fu. He's not too hard per say; but if you defeat either one of the two Reversed Souls he summons, the other one will use Sacrifice Self to not only completely heal Fu but also revive or completely heal the other Reversed Soul. If you kill enough Black Kelolons to gain enough levels and have the Attack and Magic Absorb and Ailment Resistance skills equipped on all your immortals, you'll be okay. This is also a great place to completely level up all the mortals and learn all their skills. Jansen's Double Cast helps a lot!

Anyone know how this game is selling? Based on what someone said in the thread earlier it seems like it's going off the shelves pretty quickly.

Not sure of the numbers but I know at my target, gamestops, and other stores, they all seem to be sold out.

Blim, what is your take on the story?

Too melodramatic? Deep / Shallow? Enough twists in it and did it keep you captivated in the world? :)

OK I'm having some issues right now, so I collected all those crystal fragments in the crimson forest for that one guy right? But then
when I get back to try and give to him I can't move 2 steps without getting a cutscene and wham before I know it I'm in Tusca village wondering what the hell did I do wrong to totally miss returning the pieces.
so yeah thats got me confused.

That and during
seth's first dream the music got effed up and it kept looping one song behind all the other songs and killed the mood :( but so far I think that her dreams are just exponentially more awesome and less depressing
so yay!

Yeah also when I got back to work last night we had about 3 or 4 copies in, though I'm reeaally hoping that tomorrow night I won't see any of them in. I'm trying my best to sell them hah.

Me: "Oh so you said you like RPG's right?"
Customer: "Yeah the final fantasies were great!"
Me: *Cringe* "Sure, anyway."

WHAM!
JansenAv.jpg

This is you're new god. FEAR HIM!
Customer: *willingly or unwillingly buys LO*
Me: "Good, now go home and cry. You should have bought that earlier!"

Unfortunately it doesn't always work as well as I make it out to :(

It wasn't bad, but I would have rather watch a cutscene than actually do it. It and the fetch quest killed the mood.

I can see that. Considering what happened before hand it was a unnecessary break in the game. For some of the dreams I felt a cutscene was better while for most of them the words that appeared on the screen were SO much better.
