Yes, this game badly needs a no encounters item. I might return to it at some point for that achievement if they maybe add it as DLC or something (doubt it, but I can hope).

Lirum's death scene and funeral
and wow.... That has to be one of the most emotional scenes in gaming ever. but WTF at the gathering missions. I wanted to punch someone. Such a bad design choice...

Finally finished it yesterday. Loved it all from beginning to end. Only achievement I'm missing is the Treasure Trove one and I know for a fact that I left a couple of chest unopened in the Temple of Enlightenment. Maybe I'll go back, for it in the future.

I feel your pain. I've been to every area multiple times with no luck. I completely forgot about the last underwater items, so I picked up three yesterday and still no achivement. I have no clue what I'm missing, but it's GOT to be something in Numara or Uhra. I've gone over every dungeon with a fine-tooth comb.

And yes, the auction house is closed.

Damn do I hate leaving a game with only one achievement left, but I don't see myself using Split Infinity's FAQ to go through every single area in the game again, especially without a "no encounters" item.

Damn.

I manged to find two more items in Gongora's mansion last night (theres a hidden 4th chest in the back room, pull a crate and you can access it) and a kickable can in the SW corner of the central room...

I mean Im definitely turning stuff up so Im getting there... I might just use the split infinity faq just so I can go through everything in order and make sure I get everything...

Its kind of worth it for the rush you get when you the item glow comes up for something you've missed... 'IS THIS IT WILL I GET THE ACHIEVEMENT OMG' was what I was thinking

the encounters definitely make it harder to scour the dungeons, although Ive still got a few skills to learn for the Immortal skill master achievements so I can sort of get two birds with one stone.

I'll definitely get the achievement eventually as Ive more or less dedicated myself to it. I might take a break from LO though as Ive burned myself out on it. Got lots of other nice games to play on the side, so I might get back into DMC4 and Condemned

My biggest complaint is partly the character design, which is uneven.. and some of the wardrobe. What Cooke and Mack are wearing is just ridiculous.

what? i LOVE the wardrobes!!! if i could get away with wearing clothes like that i TOTALLY would!! :D

Trying to
beat the immortal one in the backyard. It says the 3 star goal is to beat it in less than 30 turns but I can't last that long. Fucking shadowus counter every time I attack.

Any tips for this part?

Exactly, as long as you got the hint there are glowing orange dots on overworld map/dungeon they may be located in.

So are there a lot of items you can permanently miss? I read there are 2 spells you can permanently miss, and apparently a few items? What about Dreams, if you miss some can you go back and find them?

good, because Bioshock at 950 points is the closest I've come to 1000/1000, and I'm hoping Lost Odyssey can be my first.

I swear when i get Treasure Trove Im going to do a fucking jig, its gonna be just like the end of The Last Boy Scout I tells ya

OK, I know that I'm being repetitive here, but I just don't care. These 1000-year-dreams are so amazing. Amazing. I would pay $60 just for them alone. I think that it's better reading a chunk of them at once (at an inn, or something), instead of reading them when they sporadically pop up throughout the game. Anyone else feel this way? For anyone who has skipped them, though: read them. You *will* be touched.

Messages from a Weakling (or whatever) was excellent.

I agree the stories truly are amazing, but I'm glad that there so spread out. I don't think I can handle more then one in a row, especially one like "Messages from a Weakling". They're all so sad. :(

take it to where you fight the boss in the Temple of Elightenment, I havent done it myself yet but I hear it doesnt affect the Treasure Trove achievement so I dont think I'll bother

Heading to Temple after I finish up backyard fights. Stumbled on that mask on accident while doing pipot 2nd seed quest.

So all I have to do is Fights>Temple>Beat game. Long journey so far

By this day and age, all sewers should be banned from all video games.

I agree, kind of, but I thought LO's dungeon level designs were quite good. I mean, I can remember tons of RPGs where they're just a nauseating labyrinth with terrible music. (Seriously, tons.)

No video game has ever had good sewers.
Ever. In every single game it plays a plot element, and everytime its like "WTF WHY DO THEY *MAKE* ME GO IN THESE FUCKING SEWERS AND THEN MAKE ME TRUDGE THROUGH THEM LIKE A CHORE OH I GET IT SEWERS ARE UGLY AND BROWN AND REPETITIVE AND MAZES AND FILLED WITH WARPED TOP-SIDE HUNGRY AND REJETED MONSTERS THAT LISTEN TO BAD MUSIC AND SWITCHES SWITCHES SWITCHES EVERYWHERE"

Seriously, do sewers = switches in japan?

if i had to just name right now without any thought my favorite part of LO?
Short dungeons.
(And they arent even bad really, but they are thankfully short. I hate long drawn out dungeons in random encounter RPGs. As everyone knows, I just hate useless fights in RPGs as a whole and abhor grinding. LO saves me from both. But then again.... it has sewers)

At the end of the Black Cave, there's some red boss that has tons of minions. How do you kill that thing? Even with the enemy GC down to 0 wind magic does 1 dmg to it, and melee attacks barely chip away at it, but it's minions slaughter me, and keep getting summoned if I kill them. I'm lvl 28.

sorry ZZoram I cant remember, I just remember beating that butt-head's ass down and recieving an outrageous bonus. gfaqs ftw :D I wouldnt worry about slot seeds. If a guy needs o equip a skill, use one. Theres more than enough in the game to max out all immortals

Muddafucken Treasure Trove sucks ass, why did I ever convince myself I need this achievement. manged to use split infinity's awesome FAQ to clean sweep a few dungeons (well make sure I had all available treasure from them) did the hardest dungeons 1st to ensure what remains of my sanity is left intact

I like them, with their little traditional touches but they really are a little too pompous, which paired with Ming´s taste for a rather kitsch dresscode breaks the believable, more realistic and well done design on most of the rest imho.

Ming's is just plain stupid if you ask me. I mean I can't remember seeing any queen type character in a game with open brest tight fitting top, never mind the half lulu skirt thing she has going on at the bottom. Short skirts and knee high boots maybe, but you can't take much interest in the character after that. Also the whole outfit just makes her look disproportionate. As for Sarah guess i'm probably in the minority here but I really like her design. All of the immortals seem almost like they have dressed from their favourite period. The only thing I probably don't like about it is the sandals...

The one achievement I think i'm going to miss if it is an achievement is anything to do with seeds. I keep going to the pipot and always having one seed short of a whole number. It's kinda annoying.

Any idea if there is merchandising in terms of figurines, art books, etc.. available?

Make sure you´re not mistaking the element to use against it or try other spells like force/gamble. I don´t remember it being particularly difficult except for getting rid of the minions to lower its GC.

As for slot seeds, i have distributed them equally more or less although i suppose Kaim and Seth would be the most benefited.

I'm surprised he says wind does no damage to them. I stayed there for a while fighting the minions before picking a fight with the queen and all I did was all wind and melee (could add some wind powered rings). unless he's talking about the ones on the boat. In which case switch to all ground, or grounda and melee with ground powered ring. I think anyway

The spells have confused me at times though. Mainly because i'm so used to the traditional power balance. I do like the idea of spirit and composite magic though.

I thought she looked really weird with her baggy pants, exposed cleavage and sandals. Her outfit from 30 years ago suited her much better and looked less ridiculous then what she wears now. Ming is still on top when it comes to awful clothing though.

Well, for me, I hate sewers, mines, warehouses, and the like. All awful locations in most games.

I do find it funny that you are complaining about such design yet sport a No More Heroes avatar (which features some of the least interesting level design I've seen in a long time). The sewers in Lost Odyssey were significantly more interesting (from a design point) than ANY stage in No More Heroes (which basically sticks to squared off mazes based on somewhat realistic locales).

Do we really need to derail this thread into a No More Heroes debate so you can satisfy the need to push your agenda? Cuz that's what you're doing here.

No, he's right. LO's sewer designs are at least good, compared to countless other games' sewer-y mazes.

I'm not actually doing that at all.

I was simply surprised that he was insulting the designs of the sewers in Lost Odyssey. Most games that resort to sewers, warehouses, or mines do so in a very poor fashion, but LO managed to present a surprisingly well designed sewer dungeon that was both fun to explore and nice to look at. It was a rare exception. It did not resort to a maze-like design and the switch puzzles were perfectly fine.

I also rather enjoyed all of those locations within Final Fantasy XII. The sewers were actually quite elaborate and lovely.

If you've seen photos of the sewers beneath Tokyo, however, I think you wouldn't mind seeing something like that in a game (they are extremely cool).

another night, another chest, another no achievement

Im going to finish up the side quests as the general consensus at Gfaqs is that some are necessary for the achievement

I'm not discussing NMH in here.

But I will say, if I didn't go to Khent right away before going to Gohtza, can I now never go there? It's not on the map no 'mo for some reason.

I'm a little confused. Was Khent another city?
will we now never see it because of gay-ass Gongora? I'm already ticked about him pissing on Ghotza, which was one of my favorite RPG cities ever.

You have to go there before
Gohtza gets destroyed/ frozen whatever
.

If you don't go before then you will miss out on a quest and a really nice item.

You don't actually get to go into the city. Basically you can only go to the main gate area.

You still might be able to get the accessory item from the auction house in the harbor town. I think the reward for the quest was some ring construction materials.

You could have actually gotten the item before by buying it from that crow that sells you random items. Think you still can. There wasn't actually anything there though just the gates.

Yeah she didn't look too bad 30 years ago not great though, but Kaim looked just laughable to me for some reason.

I think that crow is gone after you destroy the
