Well hey dudes, Root Beer Tapper is totally fun as hell.

I, heh heh, I like when the guys in the saloon, hee, they totally ran my guy up the bar and off the screen. I deserved it! I totally botched up serving them root beer!

Dang, this game makes me thirsty.

Oh, and this is Midway not Namco, so don't expect to turn your 360 off twenty minutes after you download this with another 120 points in your pocket for the Old Spice fund.

But yeah. Fun stuff.
Getting 7000 points on the first level is dang hard.

I'm sure they're struggling with figuring out how to get Paperboy out the door in two weeks as we speak.

For every decent game that gets released we have to get a bunch of these "classic" games shoveled onto the service. When you played any of the 1,000 versions of Paperboy through the years, was it fun for anything longer than 5 minutes?

My money is that Paperboy gets released in two weeks in between an UNO deck update.

400 points is the lowest price on XBLA. That's $5 - I strongly doubt that any titles will ever be offered for below that amount.

Was GeoWars not 200?

$5 seems a lot for it tho,

if you can get a lower price point then Root Beer and Paperboy packed together for 400 would be decent.

No online in Hominid?! The game's been delayed "indefinitely" and they "don't have time"? What?

Yeah, Tetris Online.

Woah....!!! Are you telling me that tetris is planned for XBLA, or that it has been released?

Perhaps there was a deal at some point, or something, but it's 400.

There's one in the pipeline, yes. Further along than "being planned", but not quite finished.

(And for those wondering in the other thread from about a week ago: Pinball FX is indeed an XBLA title.)

? Tetris? Really? Interesting I wonder if there will be some multi player options. Puzzle Fighter would be needed to complete my puzzle game fix.

I appreciate the clarification, it's good to know that this game is coming down the pipeline.

If we could get some 4-player MP, that'd be hot.

Gutted that Alien Homids Online Co-op has been scrapped :(
I don't think it was ever planned, I've known it hasn't been coming for at least a month now. I know Castle Crashers will have online co-op though.

7050! So close! :P
You totally ignored my invite though :(
*shakes fist*

Thanks Jonny, thanks a lot. Now I have no choice but to keep playing until I get that achievement, just because you proved it's possible.

Sorry about the invite, didn't mean to ignore you. I've had notifications turned off since the day I got the system and this is the second or third time I've missed an invite because of that. I wish we could customize notifications so that only invites would show up without any of that "X Signed On" stuff.

Semi-pro tip:
The 1000 pts you get for finishing the stage counts. It's just that it's kind of tricky to actually finish the stage once you get to that speed.

I was getting 6700-6800 quite often until I tried that.

Do you know anything about the game called Aegis Wing scheduled for spring?

I'm sure this is obvious to some but is there a guide somewhere detailing the steps of migrating content from one machine to another? I'm on my second and some XBLA titles will only play while connected to Live. Hadn't noticed this before.

The only current way is to ring MS and get points refunded.

They are apparently "working on it", but who knows how long that will take.

Ack . . . Zuma is frustrating but strangely addictive. I can't stop. Anyone have any tips? It was really hard to get through stage 5. Now I'm stuck on stage 6. Any hints?

Anyone else tried Root Beer Tapper online yet? I had horrible lag against the #1 guy in arcade (Mike Kellen or something, with a score of 999985 or something).

If anyone wants to try some co-op later let me know.

I'm having so much fun on my 360 right now, and it's all due to Xbox Live. The games coming out have been pretty crappy since Gears. However the Nights of the Nine download, rootbeer tapper, Lumines extras, Heavy Weapons, and Assault Heroes have made me a happy gamer of late :).

i had this on the amiga, except it wasnt the pansy us version - it was real beer.

US Version was originally just "Tapper" and you did get to serve beers. I'm not sure when it got pussified, but I believe it was a subsequent arcade release.

I seem to recall the original home versions being beer also, like on 2600 or whatever.

So when's SotN gonna come, this wednesday?

Dang... I wasn't expecting the RBT achievements to be so difficult. 7000 in the first level is extremely difficult and I can't imagine I'll ever make it passed the Punk Rock level. Not to mention getting four consecutive bonus rounds.... which essentially means completing PunkRock level and the level after that.

Lots of fun though... I'm having a lot of fun just competing with my friends on the leaderboards.

Whoa, thanks. I honestly don't think I could've done it without that tip (I ended up around 7150).

You get 1000 points when you finish each level, not just every bar. So if you've got 6000 when level 1 ends, you'll have 7000 before hitting level 2.

My prediction:

Nothing Wednesday. Root Beer Tapper Gamer Pics the next Wednesday. Then finally:

PAPERBOY!

(then three more weeks off due to complete mental exhaustion from the hellish 3 week crunch to get the Paperboy port out the door)

They don't want to give us shit we want. My guess they'll surprise us with something like Q*bert or Mappy or Mr Do!. Then.....a two week hiatus.

Smoke break!
Wait, Q*bert was announced? Awesome!

It may just be a licensing issue. The original used Bud (I think). Much easier to use a no name root beer. And family friendly.

I haven't noticed that, if I have 3000 points after level one, I still have 3000 points when I start level 2. I'll double check but I couldn't see it.

When y'all say "Level 1" do you mean the first bar or the first "Stage" of the first bar? Because if it's 7000 in first stage, YIKES. That's only like FOUR root beers! How do you make that many points with just four?

You get the bonus just as the last person leaves, so it's hard to notice. I wasn't aware of its existence until Jonnyram pointed it out.

Yup, first stage. You have to pace things, wait until two people are in the bar before throwing a root beer to one of them to avoid clearing the level. Eventually things speed up and and it'll take multiple root beers (and mug catches) to get them out of there. Be sure to collect the tip when it shows up, those 1500 points really help things move along.
