Did anyone ever by Pinball FX? Or am I the only one stuck with the lousy three tables in it?

We had some awesome competitions with that man. If you can pull gowans away from forza at some point i'm sure we can get at least a three player going. I'll warn you though, he has the potential to kick your ass.

And I like those tables.

Well I'm pretty terrible at it actually. I think my best was around 180 mill on that car table. I think pinball is one of those things for me where I don't know what I can do to get better at it; seems so random.

How does the multiplayer work btw?

Just try to reach a score, with a lose a ball penalty of 5% or 10% or 25% or 50%.

Yeah damnit gowans, it had me for about a week then it wore off. Now I don't really have much desire to go upstairs at all =\

bought it, played it, loved it. still play it a bit, and will jump right back in as soon as they release more tables. It was #9 on the XBLA list this week as I recall, so it's still doing well.

The Prince of Persia thing is fine but man I'd love for them to release Carcassonne along side of it. I'm addicted to Catan (even with the bullshit AI rolling 7 after 7 after 7 when you're ahead of them) and I'd love to have another board game to go along with it. No Spyglass, please.

Scale the Palace Walls with “Prince of Persia Classic”
on Xbox LIVE Arcade

Return to ancient Persia to battle the evil Vizier Jaffar and his men – but don't take forever to save the princess! “Prince of Persia Classic,” will be available for download on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for Xbox 360™ beginning Wednesday 13th June at 09.00 GMT.

In Ubisoft’s “Prince of Persia Classic,” gamers take on the role of the prince as he embarks on a mission to rescue the princess before she has to wed the wicked Jaffar – all of which must be accomplished in under 60 minutes! Jumping across platforms and avoiding traps, the prince must collect bottles of potions to keep his power bar charged as he duels enemies on his way to the princess.

Originally developed by Jordan Mechner, “Prince of Persia” broke molds and made waves when it launched for the PC in 1989. By using hours of live footage of his younger brother running and jumping and a technique called ‘rotoscoping’, Mechner achieved a natural sense of movement, which was widely perceived as a great leap forward in the quality of animation seen in computer games. Additionally, Mechner utilized intense sword fighting action vs. the widely popular use of projectile weapons in video games at the time. With clever puzzles and deadly traps, the original “Prince of Persia” influenced a rich sub-genre of games were sprawling non-scrolling levels and fluid animation became the norm.

Game Features
• Enhanced character designs, animations and visuals
• New traps, puzzles and enemies to tackle further augment the classic experience
• 12 Achievements will be available, ranging from the simple (finding the sword in the first level) to the near impossible (finding all the potions in the game or finishing the game without dying)!
• The title will feature 3 different leader boards:
o Normal Mode: Complete the game as fast as possible, which saves at the end of each level
o Time Attach Mode: Complete the game as fast as possible – but be prepared to start from the beginning if you fail to save the Princess in under 60 minutes
o Survival Mode: Complete the entire game in under 60 minutes – without dying

Where can I get “Prince of Persia Classic” from?
Now dubbed “Prince of Persia Classic,” the Xbox LIVE Arcade remake of the original game, is available worldwide from Wednesday 13th June on Xbox LIVE Arcade for 800 MS points. It is rated 16+.

Don't know if anyone cares about press releases, but Microsoft sure likes sending me them.

Reading through the review for Prince of Persia reminds me of why I didn't get Symphony of the Night, or TMNT for XBLA - replay value.

Games like Texas Hold'em, Uno, Geometry Wars, and Pac-Man CE don't get old to me. The card games will have multiplayer to keep them entertaining, and GeoWars and Pacman will always challenge me to go after a higher score. As pretty as PoP is, I'd play it MAYBE twice, and then I'm done. For a game that is essentially only a couple hours worth of gameplay, that's just not worth it to me.

I'm honestly shocked that PoP is 800 points. I really didn't think that was going to be the case. After the latest Pac-Man hit at 800 I thought PoP was going to be at least 1200. I am thrilled, but I will kind of miss the GAF meltdown.

I recall being really terrible at the classic PoP. I might have to accept the challenge.

Well with PoP there's always the appeal of trying to beat your best times. I get what you're saying though(I haven't touched SOTN since I got all of the achievements awhile back, but that's mostly due to the fact that I've owned the game for close to a decade...has it been that long? ugh)

Pinball FX was a really great game! I only got 100/200 of the achievements because I found the mission based goals really hard to get. It is a great time killer and it is a nice game to play for a few minutes at a time when you do not have the time to get into a long gaming session.

ProTip!

Find some friends who also are trying to get those achievements. Start a multiplayer game with the highest possible goal score (100 million?) and penalty of 100%.

If you lose a ball during Multiplayer, the game may make you lose points, and your ball count goes up one, but the table doesn't actually know the difference. The only time I've seen the final missions on some of the tables have been through Multiplayer.

Pinball FX is a bit buggy. I was playing on the extreme table yesterday, hit about 65 mill and the stupid ball got stuck. It dinged me up to 70 mill and stoped; couldn't do anything so I had to restart. Fortunately a few attempts later and I got 98 mill.

I quite like the game though.

On an arcade note I expect either spyglass or carcassonne tomorrow. I expect to be dissapointed and pissed off when they aren't released.

Tomb Raider Anniversary is like 3.5GB on the PC. Even if they split it in five chunks, even if they use better compression, can this thing really fit as an 'Arcade' title? The softer size limits be damned, this thing might have to be a bona fide 'Marketplace' game.

Of course it wouldn't be an Arcade title. It'd be marketplace same as Shivering Isles was.

Striker and I are looking for a couple GAFers to play some partner Uno with. We've been trying to get the 10 wins achievement, but nobody ever stays in a game. Anybody here willing to play?

2008... seriously. Don't get your hopes up anytime soon.

I can't play at the moment, but make sure you change the scoring rules to make things go faster. Don't play until someone gets a cumulative score of 250, just turn scoring off so when someone wins one game, it counts as a win.

That's not a bad idea. I might have to try that.

No. The story is still good, but the gameplay......meh.
WTF? Have you really played the game?

If there is a drawback is that you can get a superior version for free on PC and add enough mods for it to have a graphical quality similar to Half Life 1. Not worth the money for the XBLA adaptation if you know where to download it.

An FPS that's as old as you are isn't going to hold up well, no matter how awesome it was back in the day.

Besides, the trilogy is a free download.
Yes, I edited my quote. I know it is a free download because I have it and I have all the texture packs and high res sprites so the game looks much better. However, when it comes to gameplay it even hold better than Doom 2 or Duke Nukem. The former being a success in XBLA. I dont know why Marathon would not be a success, or at least a better game than 80% of XBLA's offerings.

$10 for the complete trilogy would be fair, but $10 each is just BOHICA (wtf at them charging $10 for DOOM!? Not to mention Doom + shit netcode)

It looks better, but the gameplay is just so old, which is one reason why I like to preserve my nostalgia of the game, rather than going back to it.

It'd sell well, because XBLA is a goldmine and it's from Bungie. MS just needs one sentence: "From the makers of Halo, comes Marathon on XBLA" = $$$$$$$$
