Does bomberman have a release date yet? I'm going to pick up pac-man CE if it's not out in a week or 2.

Bomberman is planned for around mid July. Lots of misinformation circulating around that it would be out this week, but alas, yee have to wait a wee bit longer. Though you should get both Bomberman and Pac-man. P-man has got to be the most addictive game on XBLA bar none. That is... until Bomberman comes out!

it feels like something else is amiss... gameplay... huh? the reviewer was very vague about that answer, almost like he just didnt want to like it.
The gameplay was on par with Advance Wars, so the reviewer was talking out of his ass on that count. If the game had a good number of units I would buy it instantly. But I'm afraid that they cut the game down to get it out at that pricepoint.

Latest XBLA list from Major Nelson:

Top Arcade Titles (Full Versions)
1 1 Prince of Persia
2 2 Pac-Man C.E.
3 - Band of Bugs
4 3 UNO
5 - TMNT 1989 Arcade
6 9 Worms
7 10 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures
8 - Double Dragon
9 - Castlevania: SOTN
10 8 Texas Hold 'em

XBLA Titles on the Xbox 360 Top Live Titles (UU’s)
8 9 Prince of Persia

Seems like the list is back to normal.

Better debut of Band of Bugs than I was expecting, since GAF has pretty much ignored it (I haven't snagged it yet, but will in a few weeks when I'm done with my current game).

Yeah, I'm not sure why it hasn't got more attention here, but it seems to be a big hit with the females on my friends list, I had a couple that played it for like 8 hours straight.

Just finished the Band of Bugs story mode took me around 8 hours probably. I'v started working on getting all the gold/platinum medals and can't wait for some DLC.

Any news on what game is coming this week?

Here's the current announced / unannounced list on Wikipedia - all of these tend to be backed up pretty well. There are 59 different games ANNOUNCED which have yet to come out - so we're pretty much set for the rest of the year, really - not to mention the large amount of games that show up out of nowhere.

Let me see here, Metal Slug and Fatal Fury would probably end up under the coin-op classic section due to both being arcade games originally. Castle Crashers was indeed delayed to 2008 so that The Behemoth could take advantage of the new memory capacity. Sensible World of Soccer is indeed slated for sometime in July, this information was gleaned from a recent IGN Preview of said game. Finally, this week it is confirmed that the XBLA shall see some new Lumines Live skins, and indeed the top contender for release game-wise is Carcassonne, barring an unforeseen delay of course, oh and Track and Field might also be released this week.

Can't wait to read the disappointment around here when this is released. There's just way too much anticipation for this warmed over Tempest clone.

Whatever... for a mere $5 I'm going to buy a new game by Jeff Minter. You can play the 9-level demo and then cry about it.

I bought Castlevania:SOTN instead and wow, what a game! I never got to play it back in the day. I had no idea what I was missing. 2D adventure games don't get any better.

Build a Medieval Empire on Xbox LIVE Arcade with the Popular German Board Game "Carcassonne"

The classic, well-known European board game “Carcassonne” arrives on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 this Wednesday, June 27 at 9:00 a.m. GMT (2:00 a.m. Pacific).

Named after the medieval fortified town of Carcassonne in southern France, famed for its city walls, “Carcassonne” for Xbox LIVE Arcade starts with an empty landscape and a single square tile. Using strategic tactics and a little luck, one to five four players take turns selecting from 72 tiles displaying various features of a city including roads, the walls of a castle or fields. The medieval countryside thrives as players and their opponents place tiles and complete towns, roads, and farms while competing to accumulate the most points.

The rules of the game are easy with no elimination and fast gameplay – perfect for just about anyone! Although simple, devoted players will find layers of strategy that will keep them coming back for more. Combining a fresh visual experience and the opportunity to always have a playing partner, “Carcassonne” is the future for board game fanatics.

“Carcassonne” from Sierra Online is the Xbox LIVE Arcade edition of the hit multiplayer tile-based German board game of the same name, designed by Klaus-Jurgen. Shortly after its release in Germany in 2000, the board game won Spiel des Jahres in 2001, the European equivalent of a Game of the Year Award.

“Carcassonne” will be available worldwide for 800 Microsoft Points and is rated E for Everyone.

Game Features

* Special AI settings to challenge any skill level
* Challenge your friends – Up to five players can play over Xbox LIVE or up to four players can play on the same Xbox 360
* Interact with new and old friends alike over Xbox LIVE while you play “Carcassonne” with the Xbox LIVE Vision camera
* Helpful step-by-step tutorial to teach you the game in minutes
* Skill-based matchmaking for ranked games
* The complete “Carcassonne” includes 72 tiles and all rule sets
* “Carcassonne” includes the “Rivers II” expansion set - 12 additional tiles
* Earn up to 200 Gamerscore and 12 Achievements

In retrospect it sort of makes sense Carcassonne is coming out this week seeing as this year's Spiele de Jahres winner (Zooloretto) was just announced today.

This continues the trend of 1 Arcade game and 1 Arcade DLC

Carcasssssannnneee + Lumines DLC, if I remember correctly.

Yes, that would be correct, not the worst set-up in the world at all.

I want in on the Carcassonne league! I missed out on Catan somehow...

The Catan league fizzled out pretty fast. Whoever set it up did a great job setting it up but considering the number of people that signed up (a lot) I wasn't surprised that it never really went through. Maybe this one will work better esp. if there are fewer sign-ups.

Ikaruga is on that list, and I'm pretty sure it was never 'announced.' It just showed up on Partnernet long enough for some Treasure fans to lose their mind, then it was taken down and never heard from again.

Yea, what the poster forgot to bring over was that status of each game, Ikaruga is listed as unconfirmed.

March was when we put the XBLA mascot out to pasture. It was the Golden Age and has yet to be surpassed.

I guess it does depend on how good Carcassonne is but I say June was better by virtue of getting two of the best games the service has ever seen.

June has gotten Pacman CE, Prince of Persia, Band of Bugs, and now Carcassone right? I'd say thats nigh unbeatable.

Omega Five hasn't been announced yet either, but it is quite real. Prince of Persia wasn't announced until it was finished either. Doesn't really mean much.

Oh, and march has nothing on June. Screw the lame-ized version of Worms with hardly any fun weapons, Jetpac was awful and TMNT was more nostalgia than anything else. Band of Bugs, Pac CE and Prince of Persia are all fantastic, and Carcassonne looks damn nice too.
