A tobacco reference guide? Just want I always wanted.

:lol @ the Atari Missile Command graphics. I can't believe I actually owned that game. Needs major anti-aliasing, like 100x AA.

I recently bought PoP Classic...

And boy is that game fun even after these days... To bad that they didnt include the old sprite version though...

Yea, that is due to the cigar being used by one of the Bomberman heads.

Oh lol, the way you put it on the next line, I thought you were indicating it was another game. A badly mistranslated game title from Japan or something called "Tobacco Reference" :lol

That is usually the way the C&P comes out of the ESRB.

Anyway, in rumor news some of the eagle eyed obsessives found something interesting in regards to Geometry Wars: Galaxies that lend a bit of credence to the notion that it might be possibly coming to the XBLA.

This screenshot was taken from the Gamespot video preview of the game, seems to be the pause menu. You will note exhibit A, the word achievements seen in the menu, a staple of the XBLA. Indeed, we also have exhibit B, which by the way nobody else has pointed out yet, but the word leaderboards also appears in said menu which is another facet of the XBLA. Very interesting indeed.

Wii and DS versions both have leaderboards.

Hexic is a great, completely underrated puzzle game, but how the hell could you make a sequel to it?
It's just a typical sequel, more of the same and some new stuff. The focus in the sequel (that I didn't play a lot of as I still haven't gotten into the original yet, despite finding it interesting) seems to be on battle mode, though. Works like Lumines -- you share a playing field and the person in the lead steals parts of the screen. There were also power-ups which were mostly annoying.

Moreover, from what I have heard, Missle Command is a far better classic translation then Centipede and Millipede.
From what I played, it's the exact opposite. C/M wasn't a bad remake besides the fact that they halved the amount of rows, which was insanely stupid, but MC had annoying controls and it looks terrible and etcetera.

It really is too bad that Atari signed Stainless up for about 500 remakes for XBLA. I really wish we could get rid of them and their garbage.

I really hope they keep pumping out the Lumines packs; brings new life to the game to blow through a whole new Challenge Mode. Unfortunate that the Heavenly Star remix is so awful compared to the awesome seizure-inducing original, but otherwise aces all around.

I think I've heard of this game before. It is a lot more physics driven than a lot of other similar games.

Yea, it uses that Ageia PhysX engine and moreover looks perfect for the XBLA.

I just updated Castlevania SOTN...

does anyone know what this update about?
They added Japanese voices. I don't know if they're selectable in the English version, but previously the Japanese version only had English voices.

I think it was supposed to fix the button mapping problem (i.e., previously it didn't work).

Actually that looks like the "standard" configuration and wording used in just about all XBLA games. Me thinks GWG is 360 bound (eventually).

This is completely unrelated to the discussion going on right now, but I just got all the achievements in Lumines Live! :D Man, that 180 second timeattack is hard! When I finally got it, it was like I was in a Zen state and all the pieces just fit together! I ended up getting 228 points, which is not bad (rank #440 worldwide) but then I looked at the top score... :O Still, 228 is great for me.

Nice, I have the easy achievements but the Time Attack ones? Forget it.

That's exactly what I was thinking a few months back! I never actually thought I'd get them (that's why I never got them during all this time, I never really tried). But lately, I've been playing Lumines time attack while listening to some podcasts, and I don't think much about the game while playing because my attention is on the podcast. Oddly enough this allowed me to get progressively better to a point where I thought "hey, I can probably do this!" I was playing more on a reaction basis rather then on a "where do I put this now" basis...

The 300sec. is the easiest one, the 600sec. is the second easiest, the 60sec is the third and the 180 is the hardest. So, if you want to give it a try, go with the 300 first. Give it a try, you might surprise yourself. :)

Interesting. Only one I'd really tried was the 60 and the best I got was 54 so I figured the rest would be a waste but it makes sense that they'd be a bit easier. I'm hardly a Lumines pro of any kind though; never played the PSP version so this is my first exposure; I think my best local high score for Basic is around 250k so I'm quite the noob. Only thing that bugs me is that it can take so long to get to 200k but it's actually quite easy for me now, but then once the levels get really fast I just wind up screwing up and it was all for naught.

You and me... we're one and the same. I like the game but suck at it. I was actually playing it this weekend and decided to go for the 70 in 60 sec Achievement ... after about an hour and a half I think I managed a whopping 52. Didn't know whether to be happy or to throw the friggin controller across the room.

Yeah, I never played the PSP version before either, but this one I really like. And the reason while the 300sec is easier then the 60, for instance is that for:

60sec --- 70 points
180sec --- 200 points
300sec --- 300 points
600sec --- 600 points

So, you need to get 70 points per minute on the 60 sec one and only 60 points per minute on the 300sec one. The 180 is the hardest one, because you have to get 70 points per minute 3 minutes in a row, so it would be like doing the 60sec 3 times, non-stop.
I'm a noob too really, so if I could get it I think you can get it too. :) I was getting below 60 all the time just a couple of days ago, but the first time I got above 60, I got above 70 as well so I got the achievement right away.

Missile Command.

Really awesome graphics, great music, nicely presented, good price... but why does it exist? Why do a remake of Missile Command? It isn't even fun. The trial lasts about 90 seconds and then they want you to buy the full game.

No.

I think I'd rather have Death Rally

...

Oh the memories.

I actually suggested Death Rally XBLA to a dude who works for Remedy and he passed the idea on. Of course he wouldn't say if they're actually gonna make the game, but it's been an ongoing joke in our discussions.
