But in all seriousness. Stop. Drugs are fucking stupid.

I've never done drugs, but I honestly don't understand how it is legal. I would understand testing high school athletes for performance enhancers if there was suspicion of it, but I never understood how they could test them for recreational drugs. I know the argument is that "well you don't have to take part in extracurricular activities if you don't want to be tested," which is really just the establishment holding possible scholarships hostage to press their bullshit. This scenario is worse, because they're testing all students. I don't see how that's legal at all unless perhaps quasi-legal if it's a private/charter school.

I'll tell you this, at my school the band never got tested, and that's where the dopeheads were, and the quiz bowl team never got tested and there were 2 kids addicted to caffeine pills on that team...

They aren't. At least weed isn't.

Yes it is. We can champion people's individual rights, and even talk about how weed shouldn't be illegal, but you cannot with a straight face try to champion the virtues of marijuana use. That said, I think there are loads of stupid things that are legal, so go nuts, but please do it in the privacy of your own home and don't drive under the influence.

Don't freak out right now. It's just going to be a UA (if it's being done on a school-wide scale). If you're an occasional smoker (say, 1-2x's a week or less), it will be out of your system in a month. If you're a more habitual smoker, say something close to daily, it can take up to 3 months to get out of your system. As mentioned before, body fat does play a role in how long your body will retain the THC...So really the most/least you can do is stop smoking for now and buy some cranberry juice. Don't bother with the masking systems unless your test is very soon and you've smoked recently. A few vitamins and some(not a ton) of water on the day of your test and you'll be fine.

drop some lcd. pop some shrooms. get your hands on some horse tranqs. got some coke in your area? lines upon lines. do opium. down a bottle of apple whiskey. don't forget meth. meth is really important in making them think your test results are a joke

They can test you if its a voluntary membership in a group. By joining the team you agree to that. They test athletes because there are drugs to help them cheat. I imagine "recreational" just happen to appear in the same tests.

They can test health care providers like nurses because they have access to drugs.

You were clearly ignorant about possible drug testing
So is just about everyone else reading about this. Stop being obtuse.

Do it when you're out of school then. Keep a clean mind and focus on your studies until your done with college and landed that job. Then do whatever you want with your life.
lol "clean mind". It's time to evolve your sensibilities into the 21st century. Or I guess we could just have OP make your imaginary choice between focusing his life on school and focusing his life on drugs.

"There's an unwarranted witch hunt being organized, to punish students by disrupting their education and potentially ruining their professional lives, over something that's of questionable criminality in the first place. These students aren't actually causing any trouble, so they have to test their blood for signs that they aren't upholding proper puritan morality in their personal lives."

"Yeah well, it's your fault for doing drugs."

You're a genius!

questionable criminality my ass, everyone knows its illegal.

I swear to god if I find out my local school district is doing this shit I'm going to go fucking ape shit. THIS is what they spend the fucking school taxes on???

Yes, because everyone reacts the same and can handle prioritizing them both perfectly well. Thank you, I feel so 'enlightened'.

Seriously, what is the point of drug testing a student? If their grades are okay and they're not rampaging, what's the difference?

questionable criminality my ass, everyone knows its illegal.
I mean it's status as a criminal act is of dubious legitimacy. It is only a crime in a strict legal sense, not a moral one.

I dont trust marijuana smokers.

They smoke and use it as an excuse to act like a fucking idiot
Attributting behavior to a group of people as a whole (especially unrealistic behavior like "I can use this substance as my excuse to do stupid things!" that doesn't fucking exist) is an early sign that your thought is bullshit.

You've never encountered drugs, have you? It's okay, good for you, but it really shows when you try to sound like you know what you're talking about.

Where did the OP say he goes high to school? o.O
Edit: FUCK, some of the posts here are completely full of shit.

Oh, whoa, didn't notice you were into med. Yeah, you're just going to have to give that up then or follow a new career path, sorry.

So why should the school give a fuck as long as he passes his tests? :|

Not everyone can accomplish this. Depends on the individual.

If you're a student athlete, drugs can help you cheat.

If you're a nursing student, you have access to drugs, making you a risk if you do

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Testing for performance-enhancing drugs is fine, that's a caveat of being an athlete in general. If you're a nursing student, you have access to drugs, making you a risk to...?

If you're caught stealing drugs, you get kicked out and sent to jail. How about rather than sweeping drug testing, you just punish the people who commit crimes that affect your department? You're not the cops.

Do your research. Only way you can get addicted to weed is psychically and you really gotta be a dumbass/have an extremely addictive personality to let that happen.

Look, I'm no expert because i don't smoke anything or take anything but i was pretty sure that cannabis gives dependence not happy i checked on wikipedia and it says that gives dependence just as ketamine, almost as amphetamine and more than lsd and ecstasy; plus, unless he grows his own plant we all know that drug dealers put shit on stuff they sell so even if cannabis doesn't give addiction probably it will the stuff they put into it when they sell it to you.
That said if he really is not addicted (because of the fact that cannabis doesn't give dependence or because he have a strong will or whatever) it really is a fake problem, just don't smoke until you have done the drug test the worst that can happen (since you are not addicted) is that you will not be super relaxed or happier as when you take it.

I know people who say theyre "addicted". Theyre not, they just like smoking alot and use that to try justify it. Personally i smoke cigaretes and have never felt a urge to smoke weed like i do for cigarettes. So i dont believe people can get addicted.

I believe people can think theyre addicted, but theres no addiction possible. You body cant want marijuana.

Drugs have things known as addiction rates. Not everyone who smokes cigarettes wants them the way you do, however, a higher percentage of people who smoke feel that carving for cigarettes than they do for marijuana. Essentially, you're lack of craving for marijuana doesn't necessarily rule out addiction to marijuana. The science tends to show that weed has a much lower addiction rate.

Apples and oranges. Tobacco is physically addicting. A marijuana user could become psychologically addicted to the high. I think it was a mistake to invoke science here.

To be honest, I would support drug testing if it was found out that the school's student body had an increasing number of hard drug users. I think identifying those students and offering them help would be an important step for the institute to take. But that's probably the only circumstance under which I would support it.

Big things have small beginnings. This seemingly insignificant situation could set the OP down a path that could ultimately lead to his undoing.

You're fucked OP.

I am in nursing school! Testing everyone, which I think is kind of weird. I guess drug use among nurses is pretty common. This isn't a private school btw, and we have to pay 50$ for it !

That's very common in health professional schools, and also when you start working in hospitals/doctor's offices/pharmacies, etc. They want employees and students who are going to have access to medications and patients to be clean.

I'm surprised you're surprised by this.... it's kind of a no brainer that you shouldn't be getting high when attending nursing/medical school. Even a DUI while in these schools can seriously cause you problems.

How long will you go without being caught? How many patients lives will you put at risk to feed your habits?

I dont care how it sounds, I just hate the attitude they have that all those smokers get when they start smoking a little weed.

I live in Los Angeles, There are alot of types of people that I hate.

I think it's so sad that after endless years of indisputable drug war failure, people still think ostracizing drug users and finger wagging at them for 'breaking the law' is the right path. Truly sad, unthinking stuff here.

A school doing drug testing? First time I heard of this. Private school?

Happened 2 or 3 times in my high school. Although yeah, mine was private.

Few kids got caught and were simply told to stay off the stuff and they got followup tests a month or two later. One kid was caught dealing, he was expelled.
