Ohhhh hot! Video of PSP THUG 2.

Serious - what kind of retarded comment is this? Just because a portable system can do phenomenal 3D graphics, doesn't mean the end of 2D. Darkstalkers for PSP does better looking 2D on a portable than anything before it.

When you have games that look like this on a portable, as a developer, why make a 2D game? Kids are gonig to say the graphics suck, and they won't buy it. How many 2D games are on Xbox, PS2, and GameCube in comparison to the 3D games?

Wow, -none- of those levels are in THUG2. They look huge, and very well designed from what I can see. Sign me up.

And no, tricks didn't really get easier (well, they are in the "focus mode", that slow down thing that he does once for only a little bit). That's just what a player who's been playing every game maniacally looks like by this point...

...either that or it's one of the testers/coders. They're damn good. I could probably pull off that stuff, but only by specifically practicing those lines. He kind of looks like he's just whupping it out.

So does anyone actually know for sure that this is Vicarious Visions and not Neversoft?

I am going to play the shit out of this game!!!

Can ANYONE give us an estimated release date for this game????????????

Really? As in...March??? God bless you Sony!!

Oh and what the fuck is in your avatar? :lol

Now this... this is impressive. I don't know if it's more impressive than Ridge Racers, but yeah I think perhaps it is.

So I take it you didn't touch THUG2, right? Come on. You at least recognize the beach, right?

Anyways. I noticed a lack of music. A lack of music kills the game for me. Of course, why bother with just porting the console version? Console ports will quickly reveal themselves to just be novelty sales. I already own THUG2. There's no incentive to get a portable version.

You do realize the lack of music means nothing? And that there will be plenty of music in THUG 2 portable? Because I'm hoping to God that you realize this and you're not just stretching like all get out to find something bad here.

Because you are, of course.

Ass talkin', that is.

More like D-asS. ;-) If there's music, I'll be more comfortable, but I wonder if it was removed to save battery life.

Of course, D-asS. ;) But no, the music was not removed. I think this is just an example of them trying to start the hype of the game without everything being fully implemented.

Also, as to your THUG 2 level inquiry, you're right - one or two of the levels shown were in THUG 2. But I noticed some were heavily modified. This bodes well for at least a semi-unqiue experience. Of course, I'd like maybe a few extra perks to get the PSP version. A few extra unlockables? Three new levels? Perhaps a few new audio tracks?

Sorry I took so long to get around to this--

Yes, I "touched" THUG2--I beat Story in Sick mode. It didn't even take a second viewing of the movie to realize that beach ain't the same beach as in THUG2. You must have realized that the airport scene in the PSP footage was not the THPS3 airport, right? Or else you probably would have mentioned that too. A lot of the levels have themes like other THUG or THPS levels (beach, airport), but they ain't the same. I'd put money on it.

Just had to defend myself.

I can't wait until PSP is released. I'll have something console-like to play with at night before going to sleep in my hotel room. Beats expensing useless pay-per-view movies.

Now if there were some way to expense PSP games... hmm... :)

Dam, from what i remember of THPS 3, hes doing some pretty intense moves there. Is it somehow easier to pull of tricks in the later games?

It's muuuuuuch easier to link moves now. Too easy.

That's a shitload of PSP's sold right there.

Great thing with PSP....no fooling people with fake widescreen. :lol

I could care less for tony hawks games... but the graphics are insane for a hand-held! Fuck next-gen consoles! give me a psp damn-it!!

This game looks very nice! I didn't get Tony Hawk's Underground 2 for the PS2, and figured I'd wait to see how the PSP version turned out before deciding which one to get. It's highly likely I'll be getting the PSP version.

It does look nice, but I don't see where people are saying it looks better than the home console versions (granted, i've only played the xbox THUGs but i assume the PS2 ones look the same). This version has noticably lower poly counts and reminds me a lot of the DS Version, the framerate is really nice though.

There's a DS version of THUG 2?

Looking past the handheld factor I fail to see what is so impressive about the graphics.

If they figure out a way to include custom soundtracks.....oh man :0~~~~

It'd be a great feature. Formula One is already set to have it.

But don't think the developers have taken it easy for this PSP effort -- the technology behind the game is still heavy and hearty, and some of the special features that developer Traveller's Tales has for the game (including customizable soundtracks played right off your Memory Stick -- a first for PSP), this game heats up the PSP's tires.

If this is launch, it just became THE launch game for me. I have burned out on Hawk on console, but I still have a blast with the GBA versions... even in isometric 2D. This is like BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

And as dead just said, the real killer, the thing that will make the PSP be the OMG HELL YEA is to do what the Xbox does; give me custom soundtracks. Should be easy, pull them from the Duo. I shudder at the thought of this game, and are you ready - GT4 with custom soudtracks.

DO IT!!!!!

Damn that was impressive, Damn. VV, Karthak, you are the man.

Man, I'm hoping every game supports custom soundtracks. I hope this game and GT4 have custom soundtracks. PEACE.

If everyone else in this thread were actually looking past the handheld factor, I'm sure they'd agree with you. You're pretty much alone in looking past it...

:lol :lol :lol

When you look past the "handheld factor", nothing on a handheld is going to be very impressive.

Looks awesome but unfortunately I have no interest in another Tony Hawk game

Same here, I've never been a huge fan of the Tony Hawk games, but it's nice to see games looking great on PSP.

PSP is console level hardware. Shouldn't the games be judged accordingly?

Looking past the "it isn't real life" factor, videogames aren't very impressive...

As soon as PS2/XBox/GC runs off of a 3.6V 1800mAh battery for more than 3 hours and fits in your pocket, let me know. ;)

I thought it was 2100mAh?

I think the problem is that due to a certain company and their monopoly, some people's perception is that a handheld isn't a handheld unless it's running on totally shitty hardware.

What are other handhelds, then? If the PSP standard is equal to the standards of contemporary home consoles, then would that make other handhelds..."substandard"? :lol

Yes. It looks nice for a console game.

Looks great, although I wish it was an all new Tony Hawk game. I've already got THUG2 (haven't played it yet though).

Er, isn't it Shaba doing the PSP version?

This version has noticably lower poly counts and reminds me a lot of the DS Version, the framerate is really nice though.

Heh, I think you're vastly overestimating the DS ... go back and play THPS2 or 3 on PS1 or N64, visuals are still surprisingly good, but nowhere near this good.

Well that is one of the games that finally does it for me.

I mostly wanted a PSP for Lumines, GT4 Mobile and The Gagharv Trilogy. But, THUG 2 looks so fun. Too bad I've only played the first one on PS2.

Another year, another platform, another Tony Hawk game. Big frickin whoop, folks.

It looks nice, but really, even if I still cared to play a game like this, I'd rather play it on a console, just like all those damned Mario Advance games. For Nintendo DS or PSP, I want handheld games, not something I can already got/had on PS2 or GameCube.

Nice nick though.

Fine, it still clobbers the shit out of every handheld in that comparison too. It may not be PS2 or GC level, but that we're even making such a comparison for a handheld device is mind-boggling. Left to Nintendo and the PDA market, we wouldn't have this level of performance for another 3 years. PEACE.

this video is pretty much the reason, sumed up in this video, of why I passed on DS for the PSP. :)

I LIKEY! :)

Here is another great example of a game that would be even more fun with an added user custom soundtrack vial the duo stick.
