omg @hotlinemiami is $5 for the next [4 days] buy it you fools

Good game but I hate how the controls feel so off. Its like you can only move in four directions. Not sure if it was by design or what, but come on, its 2012.

It's intentional, and used to great effect. Of course, one of my biggest beefs was how little the hitbox was, I felt like it needed to be a few pixels bigger sometimes.

Soundtrack is amazing and I'm listening to it since launch, so it's probably good to give the guys some money. Bought.

Maybe if they change the soundtrack.

Picked it up along with Mark of the Ninja as well. $12.50 well spent.

Love the soundtrack as well. Heck i actually purchased Hydrogen & Paris for $2 from the Moon website. Flac & Mp3 versions. Fire that up in foobar2000!

Honest question: why is it good?

Note: If your answer is pixel art/the graphics style or the soundtrack you need not reply to this post.

Instead of asking us "Why is it good?" why don't you tell us why it isn't good.

Bought it on launch and I support this thread.
Game is awesome, Soundtrack is awesome and you get both by just buying the game.

every time i try to start the story it gives me an error saying that it's trying to using a non-existent surface..any solution?

As I was playing the game I just thought that this game would be the perfect coin-op game in the arcades of the 80s. I would bankrupt my parents but I would feed it quarters non-stop.

They just got my money thanks to this thread. Just because the soundtrack is so awesome. I'm not really interested in the game though lol. If it's good, too, then this is an even better deal!

Man all someone had to say was that this feels kind of like a twin stick shooter and I would of bought it instantly(i did).

This game right here is so fucking wavy though and weapons feel incredibly good. I'm in love.

Not really digging it from my initial impression. Feels too much zoomed in. Like the music. Game crashed on me though, that's a first in many moons. Will give it another whirl later.

Steam version? Right click on the game in steam > properties > find verify integrity of game cache.

done already..no result

seems like this problem with a bunch of others, are pretty common after a little research with google...until now 5 euros wasted

Bought it thanks to seeing Wario post this on Twitter. I can see how this game maybe isn't for some people, but it's fucking amazing. Soundtrack of the year for sure.

But Mass Effect 2 is only $9. Wouldn't the thrilling, original, and thought-provoking world of Mass Effect be more worth my time and/or money? Strategy, action, romance, drama... can Hotline Miami really top Mass Effect in these areas?
Hotline: Miami doesn't have a sequel that has an ending so bad it shits on the entire franchise.

Not in all of these areas.

However, Hotline Miami is fun.

Yeah like I said in the Steam sale thread, stay away if you have Windows 8. There's a late game crash that makes it near impossible to finish the game. Still waiting on a patch.

Bought this and Mark of the Ninja now, based purely off a single trailer I saw on the steam page.

Anyways this game feels hard as balls, I guess I'll need to go kb+m for this because the controller isn't cutting it.

Loving the style. I'm only three missions in but I really like the gameplay as well. It's really punishing but restarting after a death is almost instantaneous so frustration is minimal.

Screen tearing is pretty bad though. Is that intentional?
