let's say the ps6 comes out in 2027, would you buy it?

2027 is my expected release year for PS6. With Sony's strategy of releasing a Pro model of their consoles, continued cross generation support, and lack of 1st party titles that personally interest me, I doubt I'll be there day one. I skipped the Pro this go around and might wait until PS6 Pro gets released.

Yes because I'm a fucking idiot and a glutton for punishment.

Same here. No reason to buy one with the current Sony output. Will buy one.

If Xbox is done there will be no other home consoles left to opt for, except the PS6.

So the answer is self-evident.

And who the hell doesn't want the most powerful gaming device in the world?!

No. I still can't get over how little I've actually used the PS5. Its literally in storage now. I could have completely skipped it and been more than fine. If they do put out games finally that I simply have to have they will almost surely be cross gen with PS5. Most will likely come to PC eventually as well.

I did get a Switch 2 only for Nintendo 1st party. They just put out way more games and $450 is still barely affordable enough for a side thing. I expect PS6 could be pricier but who knows. And they seem to be planning much fewer games than even Sony did previously, let alone Nintendo. All 3rd party games will be PC for me.

No. Unless they announce they will stop releasing games on PC, I will just buy them there. A year or two later doesn't matter. Not like we are going to run out of great games to play.

Depends on a number of variables. Primarily exclusives that will be available, etc.

From where I'm currently standing, I don't see a need to rush and get one.

This makes zero sense. You'll pay the same money if not more 5 years later. Might as well get the better performance from Day 1.
I don't care for graphics or 60fps.
I grew up playing 15fps games on PS1!
The 700€ I would pay day 1, to play the exact same games I can play on PS5, will be invested making profit for 5 years.

Nop, never gonna buy a base Sony console again, this middle of gen update eventualy ll kill their initial release imo.

Pretty easy? Why would i buy everything what i coming out? I don't understand that logic.
If it's a hobby, you generally approach it with more enthusiasm. A ps console launch is a bigger event than any game - even GTA. It occurs seldom, and ushers in a new era.

No since PC only but I'll still want it to come out so I can start seeing more next gen games which means it'll also either be on PC or come to PC.

Then I would have bought ps portal too, but I had absolutely no interest in it. But I would also say that gta6 launch is more important to me than any console/new Pc gen launch.

Portal is an accessory, not a console - so no need to compare. Although arguably it does what the switch or steamdeck inherently do - portable gameplay.

If there is an option for a disc drive, I'm in.

Digital only, I will probably pass.

I realize physical is going the way of the DoDo bird, but I've been buying physical for years, of games I knew I wouldn't get to because I wanted to support the medium. I could probably never buy another game and play through my backlog until I die.

I'm not saying I wouldn't but consumer rights need to change or some kind of killer app. I realize I'm an old man yelling at clouds.

Back to the OT the answer is it depends.

Depends on games. Unfortunately after this gen and their failed GAAS initiative, Sony doesn't get the benefit of the doubt from me like they did when I was a Day 1 buyer for the last several generations.

Depends on the price and specs but probably not.
At this point I'd rather spend an extra $500 and make the jump to PC than get another playstation

If it's powerful enough and there are enough exclusive games (that aren't crossgen) or console features maybe but I'll probably stick to PC. I do like the ease of consoles

Yes, just to have it in my collection since i buy and keep every console released. Probably wont play it since every game is multi-platform now. I havent turned on my PS5 since last year.

Do you not have savings that just sit in your account? I do and I'll invest them in a PS6 early. I will admit though the ps5 will be viable for a long time.

Sony consoles are a beast these days and you can easily get 12/13 years out of them without needing an upgrade. We might reach a point where PS5 owners wait until PS7 and and PS6 owner's wait until the PS8. The longevity is incredible.

How can someone frequent gaming forms, not buy a new console?
Only must have game for me only available on PS5 was Spiderman 2 and GT7. I am not gonna pay 500$ for Horizon, Astrobot or Ghost of Yotei.
Rather invest in a good PC and play something else while waiting for Sony to port stuff eventually. (Death Stranding, Wolverine)

Physical copies are going to die anyway so I can't even get games cheaper than Steam. PS5 or PS6 is a bad investment for me.

No. Even though i dislike sonys output on software i really like the actual hardware. Love my ps portal.

But sony hasnt done enough for me to justify a purchase that soon. Gaas is a huge failure for sony so i want to see where this goes first before just handing them money.

Nope. I'd rather wait for the PS6 Pro or build a gaming PC.

People should not expect a huge performance increase.

Console will have a 300w powerlimit anyway.
