omg @hotlinemiami is $5 for the next [4 days] buy it you fools

Fack it, I am re-posting it for the new page:

This is exactly how I felt like after half an our or so with this game.

ratatouille.jpg

It took me straight back to 1992-1993, and made me feel 11 years old again sitting in front of my SNES. playing Super Smash TV or Bomberman or any other 8-16bit game I thoroughly enjoyed at that age.

The game is just incredible, if you consider yourself a "gamer" you shouldn't be without it.

Gdamnit. Been trying to buy this game for over an hour now. I think my bank is not accepting iDeal at the moment or something, because right before my bank's iDeal page is supposed to be opened, the window just closes itself and a payment processing error shows up. Fffuuu

If I keep this in my cart, will it be the same price, even after the flash has ended?

This game ruined my day a few weeks ago, it made me late to work and forget to eat and I was just super tense, go buy this game but take it easy everyone.

Wasted my dollars. Too bad, I thought it was going to be cool, but it is really just repetitive game play with little challenge whatsoever.

Guys, this game is sweet, get it now before the flash deal ends! It's literally like being forced to take acid, be part of a Quentin Tarantino film, and just killing people, it's worth the five bucks for sure!

Oh I'm trying to, believe you me. Damn bank, if they're having issues then they should damn well note it on their page, even if it's 4am on a saturday night, bleh.

Do they let people buy for sale price after it's ended if they've had issues (and issued a ticket of course)?

edit: Steam is really the weirdest piece of crap ever. On some fronts it's really good, but on other fronts it's just horrid. Steam community won't let me log in. Steam payment won't even let me access payment anymore (error initializing your transaction). I get a mail each time I try to log in outside of the steam client (even though I've already done this before for the browser). What a mess, almost a full page of 'steam account: access from new computer' in my inbox. Meh.

One of the best games of the year. The weird thing is that I've watched some Hotline Miami gameplay on youtube, and the game looks a lot different on the youtube vids than my game looks.

For people who say it has no replay value, I don;t get that, I am one of those guys who will never touch a game again, once I beat it. done, out of my console back into the case, or uninstalled from Steam.... but with this game it's like a time trial puzzler, I've beaten it three times already and I keep playing random levels again, just for "speed runs" etc.

you never approach a stage the same way if you go back to it again a few days later, you understand the way it works, you are more confident approaching enemies, you beat it in faster time, execute more combos, unlock more masks and weapons, approach the level totally differently, with a different mask (perk).

Perfect example... The Police station level, play that stage with "silent guns" Mask and play it with say..."look further" mask... The two will be totally different experience. this game has replayability value, But I guess just like any other game, depends on how much you actually enjoy the gameplay itself.

PC flavor of the month.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I like it better now that I've gotten the hang of playing. I still die a whole lot, but the challenge isn't bothering me as much.

Where are some good gameplay videos? I wanna make sure I'm doing this right :)

True, every level can be played in a variety of different ways. You can get creative, and that's part of the reason I like the game so much. But I mean the game looks a lot different on these youtube vids. The graphics are different, and there are new decorations like rugs and tile and carpets on these youtube vids that I don't have. I must have gotten the old version, or non-HD version or something. Not that it matters.

Just finished it. First time I've beat a game the same day I bought it on a Steam sale (or even opened it probably). Really, really incredible game. The atmosphere it creates is actually sort of surreal when you really get into it.

Nothing is better than playing a level over and over, trying to figure out a good path, then just breezing through all of the rooms on the way to the one you haven't figured out yet. It's like Super Meat Boy in that way.

Game is pretty short so I managed to knock it out today. A little more variation to the actual stealth and killing mechanics would have been nice,
playing as the Biker at the end was a nice switch up thats for sure
. I got a fairly decent grasp of what happened in the story, very strange indeed, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The music really helped on that end. All in all, money well spent. It's certainly a unique experience, can't say I've played anything like it before.

Steam overlay not working was annoying, and there might be some sort of memory leak or other issues with the game because it managed to crash my computer at one point.

I gave it a go. I think it sucks.

The game makes it clear to the player in the beginning that it's a bug filled mess. The controls when using a controller is bad; it should be like proper dual stick shooter. Other times the controller straight up doesn't work.

No graphics controls, no resolution choices. Why isn't this in 16:9? Do these indie hippie devs still use 4:3 CRT's in 2012?

This is a nice compilation of music with a pre alpha attached.

Even when I tried to quit, the game froze.

It doesn't even work properly in XSplit! What a loser game.

Have you tried playing with a KB+M? I never tried the controller but the KB+M controls were perfect. I didn't even notice that the game was letterboxed until a couple levels in just due to the presentation of it distracting me from the fact, but I don't know what you'd want from graphic options otherwise.

Is there anything about the game itself that you don't like? Or is it just the lack of options and controller implementation?

This game is wonky. From crashes to constant screen tearing to clipping issues to stealth not working properly (approaching someone from behind, no door, yet he still turns instantly and shoots) to bad hit detection (especially involving doors). Yet I still want to play through it for some odd reason. Guess the story has me intrigued.

Waiting for iOS version. I can't play games on the PC. Too distracting.
Good luck with the controls. It would need some heavy altering to work somewhat properly.

Odd, using a controller worked fine for me.

It's almost impossible to aim on controller without it. NPCs have too much reflexes
It's not just a controller thing, locking on to get quick shots around corners against gun toting enemies was necessary for me. Though it seems like I can reconfigure every all the controls except this, I don't like clicking in the scrollwheel, would much prefer mouse4 or something.

I hadn't even heard of this game before this thread. Took a chance and bought it during the sale, and yeah, it's awesome. Amusing presentation, engaging story, and simple but satisfying gameplay. And the soundtrack is just great. Thanks GAF.

this has to be one of the most well made games I have played in a long time...I hear Mark of the ninja is quite good as well
