let's say the ps6 comes out in 2027, would you buy it?

I've been waiting all gen to be convinced to jump on a PS5, TBH, so it's doubtful. At this point I'm more likely to invest in a Steam Box than anything from MS or Sony, especially with Proton being as good as it is and growing better all the time.

No. I'm a huge fan of PS consoles but any PS5 launching in 2027 would be underwhelming.

2028 is far better year to release the PS6 as it would have better hardware. It will also give Sony and 3rd party devs more time to actually cook some real next gen games for it.

It will depend on the price and what it offers. I won't pay more than 600-650 for a PS6.

I can't support the kind of bullshit Sony is pulling off.

Like any other console : is there an exclusive game I really want to play on it ?
If yes, then I buy it. Otherwise I wait till a game really interesting me.

No. Switch 2 just came out, the other two feel too new. Needs like 3 or 4 more years before they bring out a PlayStation 6 or Xbox Next

If the console launches with a naughty dog game I would. I have less and less time to play. But I like the hobby so I would buy it.

At this point, I'm almost "too old for this shit", so it's become more of a "Gotta catch 'em all":messenger_grinning_sweat:
Day1 on all the PS consoles since the PSX, so yeah..
Edit: Except the PS4 Pro

No. I just recently bough a PC so if Sony keeps they 1st party PC ports thers not even a reason to consider getting one. Also im expecting them to keep they crossgen strategy, so we wont see many games taking adavage of the console hardware for 3-4 years after the console launch.

That would mean we got a PS5 without a Naughty Dog release. Without a God of War release. Without a game from Bend. When looked back on Spider-Man 2 would be the crown jewel first party release unless Wolverine somehow isn't the lolercoaster we saw in the leaks. Hell for my money, the meat of what GAF at large was hyped for before launch hasn't even been formally announced yet. It's a console valued entirely for the games we're all sure will eventually be announced and released on. Really a wild gen when you think about it.
Why lying on the internet?

If they bring back Wipeout, Motorstom, and Uncharted then yeah I probably would (a new MGS wouldn't be the same without Kojima)

Nope. I learned my lesson the hard way buying ps5 at launch. That felt more necessary because ps4 pro was a jet engine. This time il happily wait and play the cross gen games on ps5

Built-in optical drive, with offline play as standard, yes. Upsold optical like Pro's garbage launch.. hell, no, and probably done with PlayStation for good.

This gen has been the least impressive from PlayStation first party, embarrassing really, being 5years in and only the Witcher 4 tech demo is using the hardware with any level of competency and PC porting the norm are two giant red flags, along with incompetent suit Hulst at the helm.

I'll feel the full FOMO, but I suspect it will wear off quickly like it did with the Pro if the offering is forcing physical gamer holdouts to accept inferior options.

There is no way they would show Witcher 4 playing at 60fps on a base PS5 then say actually it's 30fps now when it releases. Even if you assume the base PS5 demo isn't going to be stable 60fps it was a base PS5 and PS5 Pro would be better. I think base PS5 will last well until 2028.

I was surprised to see the tech demo they released. Personally I think it looks too blurry and not worth it but let us see. Very likely it will have performance mode. Quality mode might end up 1080P30fps. PS6 should be able to run the quality mode at least 1440P 60fps at worst or else no point releasing a PS6 IMO

No, this generation has been a complete waste. Earliest I'll get a new "main" gaming console is 2030. If PS6 has physical media, backwards compatibility, and at least an option for a disc drive I'll get that. Otherwise I'll just build an excellent gaming rig and go PC.

PS6 in 2027 and then crossgen games for another three years? How many true PS6 games will Sony release between 2027 and 2030? Two? Maybe even three?

What's the point? Especially if you've got a highend PC.

Nah, I'm done with consoles, each generation they keep getting worse and keep ripping off consumers more and more

Easily. Day one for me.

I have thousands of hours of gaming with my PS5(s). There's constantly great games releasing to play.

How can you answer this without knowing all the competing products on offer at the time? Specs/price etc...

If they have a great lineup of exclusive first party games for it, maybe.

I'd expect it to be another Ps5 situation though, with cross-gen games and PC ports.

So the answer is very likely, 'no'.

What's the point in getting a high end PC if everything's going to be cross-gen?

Honestly if people want PS6 to improve and resemble anything like previous generations Sony needs to learn the lesson with the PS5 otherwise they'll go into the PS6 launch with the same gameplan maybe even more of what they've been doing.
Because as far as they're concerned, it's working and they doing great because that's what the sales reads like.

Probably not. The PS5 console itself was decent hardware in 2020 but they've had very little to show for it so far and it's just old hardware now. I'm still waiting for that magical SSD paradigm shift that never happened.

It depends on what sort of launch exclusives they announce, or any sort of third party timed exclusives. The main reason I got a PS5 was for FF16 and Rebirth.

Maybe. But I think the Xbox series X and ps5 might be the last non-Nintendo consoles I buy.

Like, going forward, PC+Nintendo just makes the most sense. Everything is coming to PC or Nintendo.
