let's say the ps6 comes out in 2027, would you buy it?

Hell no, we already got a pro console to bide is until 2029. Get the significant specs upgrade to deliver a worthwhile generational upgrade. In 2027 they would deliver around 9070 performance and that would be embarrassing for a generational upgrade.

Delay for a refined refresh of the udna architecture with effective memory and cache integration to deliver specs centered around delivering accelerated path tracing and ml workloads.

Had every Sony console since launch of OG PS1.. The last 5 years have taught me that we are definitely in an era of dimishing returns. It's the first time that I've felt like I don't need the PS6 for at least the first couple of years because the PS5 Pro should take me through. I doubt PS6 is going to be leaps and bounds ahead of the Pro and so this time Sony have to prove to me that their PS6 hardware and games are worthy of a purchase. And I'm a huge Sony fan boy!

No.....from now on I will go with PC or maybe new Xbox branded PC ( if support steam/EGS)
Stopped getting games for my PS5 an year ago.
Investing in 2 gaming devices is getting expensive.
Looks like Gamepass + PC is winning & cheapest combination for now.

No, my plan is for a switch 2 which I already got, and upgrading to a new PC when the PS6 comes out. Otherwise I'm not buying anymore hardware. I barely use my series x and PS5 as it is. And exclusives are mostly dead if you're fine waiting a year, which I am fine with.

Hoping for a better controller since I really dislike DualSense. I plan to wait for the first revised edition with smaller nm chip and get the physical edition because I'm disappointed of the digital pricing and the coil whine of my launch PS5 unit.

So I might get a PS6 around 2030 or I will settle with PC + Steam Deck 2 + Switch 2 OLED

If they make a crossover Uncharted / Last of Us game where Joel is still alive then I'll buy a PS6 to play it

Otherwise no

Sony may be riding high on PS4/PS5/Gaas right now, but I think they have a lot to prove to the average consumer going into PS6. Everyone I know has said they're disappointed with PS5 and either have switched to PC / just given up gaming or said they will move to PC, just not bother with gaming or stick with PS5 when PS6 comes out, unless they really show something special that impresses them.

I'm usually the first to get new stuff and I ended up sitting 3yrs of this gen out as I found it so underwhelming; selling my PS5 after less than 18mths and still only jumping back in for DS2 & GTAVI. I would have laughed folks outta the room if they said I was gonna do that this gen. Now -- despite my love of new tech -- I'm starting to wonder whether I'll bother with PS6 straight out of the gate.

Probably not.
I've bought a PS5 and it's collecting dust with about 0.5 games I'm interested in announced for it.
With PS6 I'll just wait till there will be games to play on it (which may never happen now considering how these end up on PC in a year).

Depends on whether I'm still doing console gaming in 2027. If so then it's yes., but I might not buy in until the Pro/Slim is out or something.

I've been spending a ton of time on PC lately, and it doesn't really make sense to fragment my spending too much anymore for no good reason. What might tempt me is strong exclusive narrative titles.

Day one, I love the good old Playstation/PC combo, gives me access to everything I want. I used to have the switch in there as a trio but the new switch is simply not worth it for me. The kids got older and they have no interest in it anymore as well. Only my son kept gaming and he's on ps5 100% off the time.

Absolutely fucking not. The fact that anyone's even considering saying 'yes' to buying a PS6 without knowing a single thing about it is honestly embarrassing

Congrats, you've officially become the ideal consumer: loyal, predictable, and completely thoughtless

You just want to be first. First in line, first to post, first to flex. It's pathetic. And Sony knows it

If you're already a 'yes' without a single detail, you're not making a decision, you're following orders.

You're the reason this industry keeps lowering the bar

I will probably pick one up around the time that the scalpers go away. I like to have the latest and greatest. Will sell my Pro to gamestop to recoup some of the cost.

No, I will wait until mid cycle pro release and that's only if they've changed and have enough appealing games by then.
I'll sit and watch how next gen plays out before jumping in. No more day one consoles for me. It's already starting with the Switch 2.
I have zero desire to own a Switch 2. I expect this feeling to continue with the next Xbox and Playstation consoles.

Knowing how this generation went in terms of PlayStation's strategy, the answer right now if I had to answer would be no. I would be perfectly fine waiting a year or 2. It would really have to have some type of system killer feature that I just couldn't pass up on which is unlikely.

For me no, its now a wait and see affair. This gen has been pretty lackluster to me, and industry practices are horrendous. If I do I'd rather wait until a decent library has been built up for me to invest in, unlike what I have with the PS5. I don't hate it, the tech is nice but without exclusive games I'm losing interest in most walled gardens unless there is some killer app lineup. I hope they manage to turn things around though.

Probably, I wouldn't consider a PC until it moves away from the trash fire known as Windows, so it will likely remain as the best place to play games.

Have bought every iteration of PlayStation and this is the gen I'm 100% skipping and not at all enthused for the next generation either.

PlayStation will have to bring their A game with the launch of PS6 for me to consider getting back into the platform.

- No remakes. Dear God in Heaven, I. Am. So. Fucking. Tired. Of. This. Shit.
- Strong focus on a solid launch catalogue (A nice assortment of tentpoles will do)
- Decent price.

Otherwise I won't purchase and observe from the sideline again as a spectator.

If i had the money i would. People need to realize that we have entered a time of "constant cross-gen periods". What i mean by that is that the PS6 will be the best place to play the best games from the later half of the PS5 generation, just like the PS5 was for the PS4. When you adjust your mindset like that i dont see the issue.
I would like the PS6 to come out in 2028 though, give it an extra year to get better AI hardware.

I was thinking that. It will depend on what multiplayer options there are for GoY as I may need to get that if some of my friends get it too.
And as you're not an early playstation adopter the PS6 could potentially do you until the PS8. The crossgen period will probably last the entire gen.

I will be a bit dissapointed if it come in 2027. For me they should wait at least until 2028 or even late. Maybe get one at launch, but honestly, I expect that PS5 will keep getting new games even after PS6 release, so there's no need to a urgent switch.

The PS5 was already only a PS4 Pro Plus or whatever. Is tech so far advanced that a potential PS6 would even be enough to be not be looked as a minor PS5 Pro upgrade or even a PS4 Pro Ultra? Do we want more ginormous housings and 300-500W power draw? Can devs even make games on more advanced beasts when they are struggling with the current detail?
I also don't like the idea that we barely saw what current gen truly should be able to do, and already give devs a pass to just brute force good framerates and not squeeze more out of the current stuff.
