On a scale of 1-10, how well would you rate yourself at driving?

I would rate myself a 7/10. I tend to follow the law, except the speed limit, pretty well on the road. I always use my turn signals when needed, never tailgate, brake as needed, don't cut off cars and I just have an overall good sense of awareness of the road. I also don't use my phone while driving.
And I've also never been in an accident or gotten a ticket. I did get rear-ended once but that was because I was waiting to turn right on a red light and the idiot behind me didn't brake as he was on his phone.

The reason I give myself a 7 is that when it's late and I'm alone, I tend to drive more spirited than usual. Another reason is that I'm throwing parking into the mix and I can't parallel Park for shit. Lol. RIP wheels.

So, how well do you think you drive or What do your friends/family think?

I'm pretty calm myself, always aware of the speed limits. i'm always aware of my surroundings, but sometimes I use my phone to change the song that's currently playing or to check Google Maps. I've never been in an accident or gotten a ticket.
Guess I'm a 8.5/10? Or is that too high?

Kinda hard really. I'm good at defensive driving, I can read people and anticipate the dumb things that they are gonna do, I can read when someone is going to turn abruptly and without a signal for instance, but at the same time I'd be lying if I said I wasn't guilty of doing dumb things too. Also know what my car is capable of, one of the things I don't let my car do is take me by surprise, because when it does is when you make mistakes.

Plus I'm a cruiser, and normally traffic doesn't bother me. More time for me to chill to tunes.

8/10 I guess.

7.5. I'm a good driver but I'm impatient. Sorry granny, move over. Some of us have shit to do.

My girlfriend is a 3 and she knows it. She hesitates, gets flustered easy, has trouble focusing on the road. I love her, but driving with her is terrifying.

I'm a defensive driver and I respect speed limits. Can park anywhere, parallel or not.
I also drive stick and never experienced road rage. Driving is super relaxing to me.

Probably a 7 of 10 on a universal good-at-driving scale. Compared to other local drivers in my area I am the perfect driver safety god SSJ4 motorway courtesy eternal good car boy and parking champion, though.

In cars, I generally follow the laws perfectly and drive well, have been driving as a full-time job for 3 years now and have only been involved in one accident that was my fault (Rolled into the back of a ute at a set of lights, tried stopping too close and didn't realise it had an extended towbar. No damage to either vehicle because I was rolling so slowly.) with the other 2 being others crashing into me (One of them my car was parked legally on the side of the road while I was eating lunch lol). I can anticipate others driving dangerously and avoid them fairly well.

On my bike it's mostly the same way, never dropped or crashed, I try not to speed unless it's overtaking a dangerous vehicle, always filter and stop at lights in bike stopping zones to alleviate the risk of being crashed into etc.

On both my bike and in my car, I'd rate myself a 9. I never do texting or anything similar with my phone but I do talk on it through the Bluetooth and listen to music, which is a form of distraction. Honestly driving in a safe, controlled, logically way was always very natural for me to pick up. I'm lucky compared to some of my friends, who may as well be 2's. I'd rather call an uber than get driven somewhere by some of them lmao.

Good at the act of driving as in handling the car exceedingly well (except parallel parking for some fucking reason). Good at following all laws except speeding.

I guess 7 or 8.

I'd say a 9.

Had one accident when I first got my license, it was less than 5k's an hour and no damage done to the other car.

Never had a speeding fine, and I pretty much am 10-15k's over everywhere.

I can also drive and prefer a manual. So I can actually drive a car rather than 'point and press'

Also ride a motorbike, never come close to coming off but have avoided many accidents

I don't use my turning signals sometimes. And I def DJ my own music more than I should. But other than that I feel decent.

Nah, I would say 8.5 is a fair assessment.

I know my car pretty well and what it can do since I tend to push it often.

Oh yeah, I'm including parking as well. Like I said, I suck ass at it since I've not used it much or practiced it. Backing in and normal parking? I'm good at it. I mean I can do it but I've hit the curb a couple of times lol.

This is probably where I'm at.

Does this include parallel parking?

It should. Inability to properly park the vehicle represents a lack of knowledge regarding the turning radius of the vehicle, the length or size of the vehicle, how to assess your turning and parking position in regards to other vehicles/curbs or any number of other factors.

Solid 9. I drive alot and have a over a million miles accumulated under my belt over the years without an accident (knocks on wood). Ok, I hit a deer twice but those weren't my fault 😇. Suckers came out of nowhere.

I have some bad habits but I'm fine. Never had an accident, had one close call once that was entirely my fault but learned from it hasn't happened since. 7/10 I guess.

Taxes?! Isn't this the line for Metallica?
Ladies and Gentlemen you are about to witness Illusory Superiority in action
Svenson (1981) surveyed 161 students in Sweden and the United States, asking them to compare their driving skills and safety to other people. For driving skills, 93% of the U.S. sample and 69% of the Swedish sample put themselves in the top 50%; for safety, 88% of the U.S. and 77% of the Swedish put themselves in the top 50%

93% of US drivers can't be in the top 50% lol
Meaning there are a lot of deluded drivers out there!

A 6.5.

I've only been driving about a year and a half but I've learned pretty quickly how to do it. I'm very aware of my surroundings and I do not speed. Once and a while though, I get reminded that I'm a novice, hence the 6.5.

Maybe 9.5

Maybe it's cocky, but I've won over 6 autocross events, and I frequently "cruise" up my local mountain roads (been many deaths/accidents) just for fun.

Nervous out of 10. Used to tailgate until I hit scratched someone's bumper but massively dented my hood lol. Had a week where I got sleepy constantly and almost ran into traffic twice. Learned to nap in car before driving after that. Also got pulled over for stupidly talking on cell while driving on parking lot.

But I do learn from all of that and haven't caused terrible car accidents. And I drive calm with music or company to distract me from the dangers of driving by focusing on the road and the entertainment on the side.

Outside of major cities i'm a solid 8. I get super stressed in metro traffic though, i'll sometimes even fog up my side of the car when i'm really tense.

I wouldn't say 7 is high. I think it's just average. Compared to other 22yo dudes I'd say 7 is just right. lol.

I've tracked a couple of times but never done autocross. I've also gone driving up hwy 9 here in the bay area once but never did it again seeing as how many shitty drivers head up there thinking they are the shit. I wasn't pushing hard at all since I didn't know the road well.

I just got my license not too long, but I would say I'm around a 4 or 5. There's still more for me to learn and practice at and just get more experience in general. That being said I'm pretty defensive and always use blinkers and such, but sometimes I make dumb mistakes that I feel more experienced drivers wouldnt make.

quite safe (never had an accident) but not terribly skilled. Chalk that up to not being used to driving in large cities

There's some high rating in here. I would consider myself no better than 8/10. I follow all the road rules and have never had an accident or anything. I also take my car to the track somewhat often, doing road race events and drifting. I'd say I have above average car control, but no where near pro level.

5/10. Driving is the opposite of relaxing for me, and while I always try my best to drive safe, sometimes I get a bit nervous. Hasn't led to any accidents. I don't speed or anything either, but I can take a bit too much time when wanting to merge or pull out onto a road on occasion.

I've actually only ever driven in a combat zone, so if you want someone who follows traffic laws and respects human life and property, probably a 1.

If you want someone to fuck all the shit up, though, I'm a solid 9.

Probably a 9. I'm really good, and very attentive. I take into keen account what everyone else is doing, or might do. Safety first.

I would have said 10, but I can't do crazy drifts and I'm not very good at driving standard.

If nabe considers himself an 8 then I am rating myself too high at a 7. Lol. I guess 6 as a high is more accurate.

I passed the driving test my first try. Both written and practical. It's not hard at all and way too simple imo. Only thing I did wrong was drive a bit over the speed limit in a 40mph zone. I was going 45.

7.5

What's stupid is that I can parallel park, I can reverse stall park and do all the fancy stuff no problem. But what I can't do is just park. Like drive into a stall.

I always think I'm in perfectly aligned with the lines with equal space on both sides but when I get out of my car I'm always at a horrible angle. It's weird

Maybe 5, because I only ride automatic cars. I learned how to drive using a manual but I never ride one ever since, which was a few years ago. Also, I'm a slow driver I almost never hit the 4th gear unless I'm on a highway.

7 or 8. I have pretty good spatial awareness and have a pretty good idea about how to keep a car under control should I have to react quickly. I know more about braking and grip than most, and I've never had an accident. But watching people drive in Indonesia was humbling and I'll never reach that level of patience.
