This show is really different in that the season finales and the next season premieres take place within a few days of each other. So many shows will skip a few months ("how was your summer?") to cover up cast changes and allow new hairdos and whatnot.
Considering Daya's gotten pregnant
and had her baby
, we're a little over nine months into Piper's sentence--and I think she says that she has what, twelve to eighteen months left at some point towards the end of the season?
Piper's doing a three-year sentence, right? I think she was threatened with extra time for perjuring herself in Chicago, but I don't know if that was tacked on.
So if that's true, she's got somewhere in the neighborhood of 27 months left. At this rate we've got another nine seasons before she gets out, LOL.

Her original sentence is 15 months. So that's like three months per season so far.
Assuming nothing's been tacked on, two more seasons to finish her sentence as the "main" viewpoint character to round the show out to five wouldn't be too bad.
Unless they've tacked more time on. I can't recall. THey could always extend the show with new inmates as well.
This season was okay. I'm hoping they're setting up for something bigger. I hate how they wrote out some of the characters. It seemed like they didn't take much time to figure it out.

I think I finished ep11 and so far I think this season is way stronger than Season 2, I don't get the complaints. The whole Vee arc almost killed the show because it made everyone's arcs revolve around some boring villain. This season is allowing all the cast to shine, and there are multiple plot threads going. I love the backstories for all the minor characters. It's also way funnier too, I don't think I have laughed during this show as much as I have this season.
Just finished it. Thought it was great. Much better than season 2 though not quite as good as season 1. I liked how instead of having one central arc this time, there were a bunch of mini ones. Some of them were awful and a bit far fetched but most of them were pretty good. The last episode was great
as all the plot threads came together and while the vibe of the episode was lighthearted it seems like shit is about to go down in season 4
I hope Alex actually dies though, even though it probably won't happen. Worst character in the show IDK how so many of you guys like her.
Kinda sad that this season seems to have way less talk about it and people calling it boring. I'm on the finale and it's my favorite season. It's also been the funniest one. I think it may be least dramatic or tragic (not that it doesn't have plenty of sad or tragic moments) but the stories and characters have been as interesting if not moreso than before.
Favorite characters this season: Caputo, Tiffany, Alex, Gloria, Soso. I really liked Flaca's flashbacks and I always love her and Maritza together.
Favorite funny moment: The rabbi interview with Cindy where she asks what that T word is, then says "Next" on the first suggestion
Least favorite: actually hasn't been any that I've really disliked like in S1 or S2, since Daya wasn't bad. But I'd say I'm still not a big Leanne fan. Also I don't dislike her but Aleida did some really questionable shit this season.
Bennett leaving was very out of character and his flashbacks seemed like they forgot one. I really hope Nikki comes back.
I just finished episode 3. Natasha Lyonne's acting is just downright embarrassing. Everything she did in the episode felt amateurish. Worse than community theater. It was more like what you'd get from an actor in porn. Otherwise the show isn't really grabbing me yet.
I finished the season last night. Overall I liked it better than S2 but yeah it didn't reach the heights of S1. Still, pretty funny and the finale was great. My thoughts on the season:
Things I liked
- Pensatucky and Boo's friendship. They were one of the highlights definitely but I'm not sure Pensatucky needed more backstory. She had what? Like 2 more episodes dedicated to her flashbacks while some others like Yoga Jones haven't had one yet (and she already revealed why she's in prision so I doubt they're gonna revisit that). I hope Maritza doesn't end up having the same luck as Pensa.
- The Soso arc. I was afraid she was going to kill herself because they were focusing too much on her and the rejection. Glad to see someone finally accepting her.
- Piper's business. I actually liked how it began to grow and how Piper became the HBIC of the prision (apparently). LOVED how she got the last laugh in regards to Stella's thievery ways. I love to hate Piper tbh.
- Big Boo and Flaca's episodes. Marisol going to jail for that seems bullshit tho.
Things I didn't like
- Nicky going like that. Really? Did Natasha Lyonne leave the show? I mean if it had happened mid season wouldn't have been as awful but she lasted 3 episodes. And she was credited as a regular during the whole season... it's just odd. Also, Luschek walked away with any repercussions.
- Same thing with Bennet. I know the actor had other commitments but they should have wrapped up his storyline better. It just felt out of character him leaving like that.
- Stella. She appeared out of the blue and her thing with Piper was just so sudden. The actress' acting did not help either.
- Getting rid of Berdie. I hope she comes back. She was great with the women.
- That new officer who looks exactly like Callahan. I thought she had come back for a second.
- Lolly. The actress' over the top delivery of the lines was annoying. I didn't like the character either when she first appeared during the S2 premiere.
- Black Cindy. I've never liked the character (although she says some funny stuff) but she annoyed me to no end this season. Her converting to judaism for something else other than the food felt tacked on too.
- Alex and the cliffhanger.
- Gloria being an utter bitch to Sophia. I get no one wants to hear anything bad about their sons but she's doing you a favor, dammit.
Well, I was on her side at first (specially after it turned out that her son was innocent) but she acted so entitled during the whole thing like "OMG THIS BITCH IS TAKING MY SON AWAY FROM MEEE111!!!". Ugh, she was so over the top about it. I usually like her tho.

that other latina (diaz something right?) was kinda pushing her deeper into the conflict with her, sounded like she had issues with Sophia from the start
I genuinely think that the conversation Piper and Alex had a few episodes earlier about the phenomenon of suddenly noticing someone who had been there the entire time for the first time was to sweep her abrupt appearance out of nowhere with no explanation under the rug.
This season started kind of weak, but I think it ended really strong. Loved a lot of the subplots. Really loved the final scenes.
The one thing I didn't like is that a lot of things I expected to be resolved in the finale are still hanging until next season. But I guess that means I'll definitely be watching next season, so it was probably by design.
lol. Fair enough but it's kind of annoying on a phone. I like to watch on my phone at the gym so having to precisely scroll exactly 1 minute and not way more by accident is a bit annoying.
It's not that big a deal I just wish it was shorter.
Boo's Freakonomics bit about abortion or O'Neil's red velvet rant
very much felt like a writer but Piper has always had moments where someone says something and she corrects them in that annoying know it all, clearly the writer is fed up with it in real life kind of way.
I finished the season just the other day, and like the first two I enjoyed it. But I don't put too much stock in this show to do much beyond just entertain me.
And I just about pissed myself when
Caputo was having sex with Fig and she just started wailing and he goes, "What the fuck is that noise? Is that real or do you think that's a turn-on?"
Really great season overall, just finished it up last night.
Some small complaints:
they continue to paint every woman in the prison as a victim of circumstance. No one's a bad person, quite the opposite. They all have hearts of gold. It's getting absurd now. When they cut to that random 2 minute clip of the black runner girl being told she couldn't run track in college and getting slapped because we're Muslims dammit, I actually laughed. She wasn't even a minor focal point of the episode. We get it guys. But it's ok for some of them to at least be morally questionable sometimes.
Piper is now the worst character on the show. They don't seem to have any idea what to do with her, which is weird because she's still the main character. I feel like they should've had her fall into a situation where her sentence was somehow extended, because she's too far gone to have only been in a prison full of morally upstanding people for what, 6 or 7 months now? Isn't she only supposed to be serving a year total?
I'm pissed we didn't get a quick look-in with what happened to Vauss before the season ended.
Honestly thought this was the worst season, easily. so many things about it were bad-poor. That Australian ones acting was woeful. And even sans shit acting she was jsut a crap character. Too many flashbacks, all of which were totally unbelievable as flashbacks simply because there was no way to reasonably pass off stuff like young Caputo just by putting a terribad wig on him. And it was like every flashback was designed to show that these women were in prison simply cause they made a mistake or a bad decision, like noones flashback showed them doing something like robbing a store or beating someones ass, like theyre trying to make everyone too sympathetic. The sub plot with the cult was awful too. The overall tone too was just sillier this season i thought.
Its gonna need to do something really amazing with S4 to get my interest back. Literally the only good thing all season was Boo & Penn's relationship
