I tried comp this past week. Got my placement etc. I play on EU servers and I was surprised about the lack of communication. I get that not everyone is comfortable enough with their spoken english but it was a bummer because I went to test the NA servers and people were really using the voice chat to communicate. I played only Mercy of course because of the ping.

Yeh eu has bad comms, probably a culture and language thing. Try to find a regular guy or 2 to comp with.

I have been on two matches where dudes have been purposely trying to lose their sr. First one was a torb on oasis who spammed "thanks",kept banging on the turret and charged ahead into the enemy.
Second one was on li jiang with a winston and roadhog group. They kept standing in from on the enemy spawn room spamming "hello" and "thanks'". Lost the first match but won the second when the two tanks stop screwing around and started fighting seriously as a whole group by the third round. Not too bad overall but boy did the 1st match pissed the hell out of me.
Btw is team voice chat broken on ps4? Worked fine for me a few weeks back

Oh, yes. I just had the most fun in the Uprising mode yet. I'm grinding my lootboxes and alleviating the boredom by just playing on Hard. I decide this time, I'll go Zen. At the same time, another dude locks in Ana. I joke, "all supports? Kappa" and everybody's totally on board with it. We go Zen/Sym/Ana/Lucio and manage to eke out a win with well-coordinated ults and pushes. I got all 5 gold medals too and a legendary card at the end! I wasn't so sure here and there because we weren't stopping all the detonators, but we got the payload to the bomb site with 10% life left. Man, that was fun.

the room is so cold here it's hard to play with my hands freezing. but won 2 games. slowly climbing back up. there was one KOTH match people kept overextending and lucio already has smaller healing. but luckily they kinda sorta stopped. we easily won it 3-0 though.
Ask for Lucio Bump, now the dude can even bump entire maps... op shit

No, the Heroes of the Storm event is getting details announced tomorrow/today, including what the Nexus Challenge actually will reward.
Pretty fun night overall. Was trying a bunch of heroes in QP I've been wanting to /get better with but haven't got to play much, and got 1 Orisa, 1 McCree and 3 Winston PotGs and just felt useful in general. Still can't figure out how to get better with Tracer but maybe someday. Damn shame since the game won't stop throwing Tracer skins at me.
I finally got one I kinda sorta wanted (McCree), you can get one too, just keep trying!.

It's possible. I think Doomfist is on the backburner for now, and I also think that the next hero will be a support, which Athena would probably work well for.
There's not many hints for who the next character will be, there's only some minor things we can piece together for possible candidates, but as Orisa has shown, there's no guarantee any of them is up next.
The potential candidates are imo:
Doomfist (though he probably will happen much later)
Brigit (Reinhardt's "squire", and Torb's either daughter or apprentice)
Athena
Liao (from the original Overwatch strike team)
Someone from Greece
Someone from Iraq
If you think Athena has no personality, you haven't been paying attention. She's damn sassy.

They're already working on making the art assets and final playtesting for the upcoming character, i.e. they're pretty much done with it.
Have you heard her voice samples? For being the organization's core A.I., she's pretty sassy.
Doomfist seems to be a given, as that character plays heavily into the games current narrative. Especially with regards to Orisa & Talon.
I didn't think about a future hero coming from Iraq, but given the Oasis map, you've brought up a good point about a playable character coming from that region. Should be interesting what the development team will come up with, especially with bucking trends with some of the archtypes.
As for Brigit, I'm expecting her to stay in the comics and not being making a playable appearance. (Though, like with Efi for Orisa, I would love if she made an appearance in a highlight intro for Reinhardt.)

The only reason why I think a character from Iraq is very likely is because of Oasis yes. It seems like Blizzard kind of wants to have maps that connect to characters. The last few characters all had "home maps" (and in the case of Sombra and Orisa, are the first characters to have those locations as home maps).
Which is also why I think we'll be getting a second Chinese character (probably Liao) to tie into Lijiang, because Mei's "home map" is Ecopoint Antarctica, while Lijiang doesn't outright "belong" to her.
I dunno, Blizzard has pretty militantly shown her in most of the comics lately, and she also shows up in several sprays. Out of all the background characters, Brigit is the most prominent one. She has more presence in the lore side of the universe than even actually playable characters like Symmetra, D.Va or Zarya have currently. She even appears on Sombra's web!

I'm starting to think that Terry Crews kind of thrown the development of Doomfist into a loop.
Mei's an interesting case, as she didn't have a home map before Echo-Point Antarctica was released, & (according to the games lore), Lijiang was more of a second home during her University days. (She's from Xi'an.) Would make more sense for Lijiang to be Mei & Liao's shared home turf, provided he does appear in the future.
I honestly didn't know that Bridget was mentioned in Sombra's interlocked Web. I need to watch that video again.
And it makes me sad that D.Va and Zarya haven't had much in that of lore exploration. Given that South Korea has to deal with a Godzilla-sized Omnic that can learn, adapt, and grow from whatever it fights, it feels weird something that big is kind of placed on the sidelines.
There's something beautiful about a Reinhardt player charging off into the sunset. (Or, in the last game I had played, came out of our Symmetra's teleporter and charged the D.Va bomb off the map, which got him POTG.)

Wait hold on... do you have a source for that? Because Lijiang Tower's location has not been revealed as far as I know, and she also doesn't have any voice lines on the map other than "It's good to be home" (which might just be a reference to being back to China as a whole).

I have to find the video, but several of the core directors and Michael Chu had mentioned that tidbit during a discussion on lore building, and mentioned that the city that Lijiang Tower is located in is the same city that Mei went to during her university days.

so how does escort have a draw? On Route 66 we pushed the payload a meter past the first checkpoint to get 4 points on our second run and on defense we held them at the door and it gave a draw when they reached the first check and we bumped them off as the door was opening. It said they had like .3 meters left!!

Good games today, good thing the random stopped trolling in the last one. I think batman's words touched him in his heart, because there was no reason for him to be doing that to us. What a pro lucio, in and out of the game.
We played 14 comp games after 10 or so of QP. That was a lot of OW, was getting really tired in the last ones, didn't felt like playing any character.

Jesus Christ. I only played 5 games! You guys must've been playing for hours before I got there.
Be happy it wasn't a duplicate. I got double legendaries once and my soul was a little crushed when both of them were ones I already had.
I managed to get Blackwatch Genji, which is the one I wanted most. I also really want Blackwatch McCree and D.Va's selfie.
Now watch me get a legendary and have it turn out to be Torbs.

I was productive in that time, Lived through half a month on Persona, wrote two papers, and had a good Overwatch comp stack. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Man, I jumped into Comp last night and am still ranked around 1080-ish.
The games were pretty intense and there were some matches where I just felt like I couldn't do anything (e.g. D. Va getting insta-ejected; Lucio knocking everyone off the edges on Ilios; Zarya shredding my mech).
We're all matched in the same league, so why are we getting so bodied even when we have similar teams? lol
Maaaan, I'm level 82! I don't want to be one of those 3+ star guys still stuck in Bronze / Wood. lol

Yeah I think we played basically 6-7 hours straight. That was not healthy.
