Yep, I've always preferred Xbox's OS over Playstation, this gen hasn't changed that preference so far. Microsoft has done some dumbfounding things but the way they update the dashboard every month is superb.
Curious, how is it unstable?
I never noticed instability, just slowness or lag. Never experienced a crash. That may be a combination of the OS and being the "weaker hardware".
Also, stability patches of the PS4 may be needed after all, so Sony might not just be whistling into the wind. It crashed on me once while playing Ghosts (which according to Google, it's not that uncommon.) I think it's more of the apps running in the background while gaming, I close every app now.
sorry to inform you on 50 meg connection more then possible
I dusted off my XB1 after months and was swarmed with "XBOX ONE PREVIEW!" and like 10 surveys about the UI. They even made silly quests/missions about testing out UI elements that are still in beta.
Haven't seen anything like that from Sony.
How do you know when your xbone is in suspend resume mode ?
I feel like when I turn my xbone and ps4 in standyby they boot up about the same time.
None of my games crashed actually, at least not that I can remember right now. But got some problems like:
-Turn on the console and get a problem connecting with friends, that I could only solve after rebooting it. (happened just once)
-Turn on the console that was in standby, and then I could not load any app, neither the one that was on the suspend/resume mode - that was guacamelee. Could only solve after turning the system off at energy saving mode and turn it on again. (happened 2 times if I remember correctly).
-After suspending a game and trying to do something else on the mean time, the system pratically frozed... like, I could still move the "cursor" over the apps but could not access anything for like 4 minutes, till it came back working properly again. (happened a few times, but its not extremely frequent)
Other then that the system is amazing!
There are plenty of reasons why an OS can make you prefer playing games on one machine over another.
I can be watching TV and still receive a game invite from friends, and start playing due to that.
I can actually see when friends come online, because it bothers to tell me.
Twitch broadcasts don't embed the damn UI into the stream.
Can opt for Skype calls instead of party chat, so I can talk to my brothers even when they're not on their consoles (one doesn't even own an Xbox One yet).
Can snap various apps to the side, so if I'm waiting for a show to start, I can still be playing meanwhile.
Recording shit actually works reliably.
I bought my PS4 with the assumption that I'd be purchasing console multiplats (that don't have a PC version) for it due to the superior specs. These days though, I'm hesitant to do so, as the Xbox has integrated itself so well in my setup, that playing anything on the PS4 feel extremely segregated from everything else I do. Now unless the port is a disaster (and 900p vs 1080p is not a disaster to me) on Xbox One, I'm probably going to end up buying that version instead.
Nope the xbox one os is terrible, it's gotten better but it doesn't hold a candle to how good the ps4 os is.
I don't get how Microsoft has dropped the ball on the os compared to even the 360.
Yikes. I don't think I've ran into those.
Have you had any similar issue like those with the PS4?
if anything it makes me hate the damn thing.
This. I have Kinect, but I stopped using it because I live in an apartment. After awhile my Wife got really irritated at me saying the same commands over and over. She basically said "Isn't that what the controller is for?". I conceded and boxed up the Kinect. It's definitely not as straight forward as the PS4 OS, but it does have more features.
Can't say it makes me want to play on the Xbox more though. We got it for exclusives primarily and Kinect (ironically).

Good points, though personally recording has been fine for me (when I rarely use it) and yeah I agree Friend online notification is a weird omission with the PS4.
Most of the other points, while make perfect sense, feel more subjective to me.
Where I game, I don't watch TV, so have no benefit there (and my alternative is simply my phone to get PS notifications from if I'm doing something else).
Good points however, if you have a similar set up to you, I can see why the X1 offers perhaps a better experience, at least if you consider things outside of gaming.
I will never understand why some of you are so eager on so many os features.
If i want a OS that does loads of stuff ill turn on my PC.
I might watch a TV show or two but otherwise im ingame 99.9% and aslong as Party Chat is working and there are no OS breaking bugs i barely even notice the OS.
I don't use any of the tv features on xbone, and don't have a Ps4 yet, but I love how they are making the UI very social oriented, how Kinect voice controls makes every other electronic device I've used feels like it's from an ancient era. I love snapping things while I play, and they are making that feature more useful every month. I love how the game is always ready when I turn the console on, and I love that I can set an online match, go to another app and get notified when the match is ready.Honest question here to the XB1 owners: If you are not interested in TV features at all, only gaming. Wich ones make you feel that are better on the XB1? Because Remote Play, Using any Headset in the controller, save to USB, and Soon remote Share are pretty great features.
It seems like the general consensus is that if all you primarily do with a console is turn it on, play a game, and turn it off when you're done, the PS4 is perfect for you, but if you do a little bit of everything, the XB1 tends to fare much better.
The two features I love most about my X1 are voice commands, and the ability for Kinect to scan those funky bar codes. Sure as hell beats typing a 16 digit redemption code!
The PS4's os feels dead and lifeless but I'm not complaining.
I don't know what the OP is talking about, makes me feel like I'm reading an ad for xbone. I prefer the PS4 UI since I value simplicity. I just want to turn it on and play my game, I don't need any of that other junk.

Everybody has different taste but the UI and OS system features is something i think Sony didn't take into account with former 360 owners moving to PS4. 360 owners are use to everything being connected seamlessly and having a fancy dashboard. Something the XB1 takes even further. I can image many of them buying a PS4 only to wonder what the fuck it is they're looking at and navigating. I mean the current PS4 UI is pretty half assed and bare bones. The XB1 and PS4 has a few of the same features, but MS implemented them much better. Sony can't let their UI stay in the state it's in when they're number 1 in sales and 360 owners continue to migrate to the console. People are going to start expecting more and realising the XB1 does everything better with their OS.
And apps. The XB1 has hundreds of apps. What's going to happen when more developers start making apps like ReddX? Sony better wake up.
