OXM Lionhead Interview Fable: Legends "one of the most beautiful games on Xbox One"

Which is exactly why I don't like the way MS I'd announcing things. Some people may like it but I feel that while it's cool now, it'll make the games get old way before they're out. Take Halo 5 for example, it's coming out late 2015, that means that by the time it's out it will have been at 3 E3s. Black Tusks game is now cancelled. I'd rather they take Sony's current approach of keeping the as close to the chest as possible till they're ready.

I like MS's trickle since E3 actually. They might have blown their load a bit at E3, but lately they've done a good job at giving just enough a bit at a time whereas Sony has been pretty quiet since TGS. Hopefully it means Sony has a big blowout this E3, but maybe they'll choose to spread things out again across Gamescom and TGS again. MS on the other hand, I see them blowing their load again.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for "Eden Falls" being Lionhead, personally.

And any second project on the go, I expect that will be announced much later on

Actually I suspect it's going to be a collaboration between Lionhead and Lift London.
Lionhead doing the AAA game and Lift London doing a mobile companion as well assisting the main game.

True and I don't know, I'm conflicted. I mean I do like MS openness, but at the same time them showing off games this early will mean seeing those same games at E3 again which I don't like (it's why I'm hoping Sony doesn't waste anytime on Driveclub this E3). At the same time, while I like Sony policy of revealing things closer to release (at least, nowadays they do), I also dislike that they keep us completely on the dark. It's kind of a pick your poison situation.

Then again, I don't mind them blowing their load all at E3 because it's understandable. NA, along with the UK, are the only territories where they're even relevant anymore so focusing on E3 is a no brainer. Sony has to spread things out between E3 and other conferences since the PS4 has global appeal. Either way, hopefully both deliver.

Maybe it's the hype getting to me, but I'm convinced this E3 will deliver. I'm so ready for megatons.

I don't mind seeing the same game multiple times, as long as it's a trailer the first time, and a gameplay demonstration a year (or more) later. Of course, some new announcements also need to be made to balance things out.

I'm not sure what you mean, the only games I can think of that they recently announced close to release were the launch titles.

Actually, earlier this year Spencer was tweeting about spreading out their announcements across multiple major conferences, so while I think that their E3 is going to be great (and Sony can't afford to have a weak E3 either), I don't expect it to be the end of the story for this year. Really, expecting that Microsoft will just give up on Europe is ludicrous.

Meh, lost interest in Fable long ago. I consider the series to be 1, 2 and 3 on the Xbox 360. The "on rails" Kinect-fest, that mini-game thing and this don't gather any interest to me at all.

I have no doubt it will look great, but how will it play that is the question. I enjoyed the first two Fables ( especially Fable 2) and Fable 3 had it's moments.( i liked the Steampunk and the become king aspect, though sadly it wasn't fleshed out at all.) I am hoping that combat wise it's more akin to the original Fable.

There is actually a closed beta of this happening right now.

My prediction is they will launch it at E3 and make it's first free to play segment available to download on the day.

Lighting is definitely nice and the overall aesthetic looks pleasant. Modelling in those shots doesn't impress me that much though. Goblin looks a bit poly starved.

Fable Legends looks fantastic in some of those shots.

I'm not convinced with the coop aspect yet but hopefully they'll pull it off well and do justice to Fable 1 & 2.

I assume this is ignoring the PS4 launch event, numerous indie events, the Morpheus announcement, the gameplay reveal of The Order and the DriveClub re-reveal?

Yes but does it have genre defining gameplay, a living breathing world that changes dynamically as a result of your choices, and AI with the unprecedented ability to emote realistically in a manner that will move you like no other game before?

Actually, this does look pretty.

Fable is an awful series. This could be the greatest graphics on earth and I wouldn't pay a dime for it.
Actually Fable 2 is outstanding and the original was flawed but very good.

Visually, this game is looking fantastic...though it is the personality of the game which I am interested to see (i.e. the humour, character personality, the world, and so on).

I can imagine Fable Legends benefitting from a style of humour akin to the Princess Bride. Perhaps the approach to story telling can be interwoven somehow, too.

surely the point is if you blow your load constantly, at some point you are firing blanks. MS showed a bunch of stuff including talking about 2015 titles last year. That leaves them potentially a bit dry this year, so they might dip into the 2016 lineup, which means E3 2015 has even less new stuff to talk about.

They inevitably end up retreading pre-announced titles if they aren't very careful.

Sony's approach is borderline annoying for me at the moment though. They need to open the taps a bit more. Even if they're having a slow start to the PS4, they need a middle ground IMO between what they are doing now and what MS are doing.

What is this Fable exactly? None of the videos I found explained all that well. Is it a Dungeon Crawler where one player is the dungeon master?

Its a OK looking game, but far from "one most beautiful" ones. Geometry and textures density is very low.

And why is this thread so full of Quantum Break news? Why so much pointless offtopic?

On Xbox One. And we did not see it running yet.
What's the most beautiful game on XBO in your opinion?

Assuming that they do announce a few titles that will launch in 2016 this year then I imagine they'll just continue the trend next year, by announcing titles releasing in 2017 and so on.

I'm enjoying Microsoft's recent open approach to things, there's already too much secrecy in this industry so it's nice to see. I am partial to the odd surprise though, so I hope they keep some things under tight wraps.

I must have awful taste then, cause Fable is one my favorite IPs since OG XBOX.

I fully appreciate these games are far from perfect (esp. 2 and 3), but it didn't prevent me from enjoying them at all.
The thing is I feel like there is absolutely no equivalent anywhere for this specific combination of british humour, lovely atmosphere, beautiful art direction, epic music and hero customization.

First party but not using a dedicated engine??
I got yelled at a bit the last time I questioned this, but these were exactly my thoughts too. I really think that first parties should be using proprietary engines that can get the most out of the hardware. Using middleware to save costs in first party development just smacks of lower value for the consumer IMO.

I love how within a few posts, someone is already asking about the resolution. (I can't even tell when people are joking anymore). As if to say, less than 1080p can't actually express beauty and he's wrong. It makes me a little sad inside to be associated with "gamers" that only care about resolution.

I really liked the first one, despite all it's flaws. The ability to do co op in the second made the game much more enjoyable. I never played the third. I'm interested in seeing how this one turns out, but I'm skeptical with the amounts of overhype they've produced in the past.

Lionhead keep that cheap UE4 shit out of my 1st party games! Legends 15e purchase confirmed*.

*if Legends has custom GI solution I'll pay 20e.

Its not just resolution, its FPS as well in general. But its expected now really.
