Patch 1.03 adds a 60 FPS Toggle to Red Dead Redemption (PS5 Only)

Patched in to the existing Xbox version I doubt it. The Xbox version runs code for an IBM processor that then gets emulated to x86. Rockstar would need to go and mess with that codebase and somehow make it work; doubt it would generate many sales in that ecosystem. If it could be ran at 60fps through the emulation layer, the BC team would have done it already.
What Rockstar can do though is release the new version of the game to Xbox as well. Of course you'd need to buy it again for that.
I was confused at first, as i figured sony would have to do the same thing as they have the same amd apus, then remembered xbox didn't get a port you are talking about emulating the 360 game. Guess they can't up the cpu cycles like old emulators did for 8/16bit games, lol. FPS probably hard coded in, not based on system speed.

I legitimately can't tell if this thread was posted as some way R* can gauge if it's worth doing RDR2 60, The amount of us on here who read the title thinking this was for RDR2 is cazy.

Till RDR2 is 60 on XSX & PS5 I'll continue to sleep.

Doubt the fps are hard coded as Xenia(360 emulator) can run the game at high frames just fine.

So why wouldn't this be on the Xbox?
I guess Microsoft doing their own work on the game by enabling 4K kinda ended up biting them in the ass. Why would Rockstar work on 4K update for Xbox if the game already runs in 4K on the platform? That and lower potential playerbase numbers probably helped in Rockstar's decision to leave xbros hanging.

So now, will Rockstar allow MS to enable FPS Boost (if it would work in this game) or will they release a 40€ patch for the 360 back-compatible version ?

That's awesome. First time RDR can be played at 60fps. PC port imminent?

Red dead redemption 1 was one of the reasons I bought a series S. This was before this new version. Now, I'm not restarting my save from the Xbox version. No way in hell.

The game was released for PS4 and Switch, so it's running in back compat mode on PS5. My guess is that since Xbox One is discontinued and the original Xbox 360 games are backward compatible on Series consoles they saw no reason to invest the time in creating a new build for Xbox.

This is how it should've been at launch, now all it needs is a price drop to $30 and it's actually worth it.

There is no native PS5 version either. This is PS4 Pro version running on PS5 (apparently there is a 60fps mode on Pro too).

I don't think a native PS5 would make a huge difference in this case.
The game is already running at native 4k, got 60 fps via patch and use FSR 2.0 as a form of AA.

Rockstar settled on xbox having a BC version maybe.

Who knows maybe they gauge interest of the remaster and release down the line on xbox

I thought it might be, just a bit weird of Rockstar to release the 60fps Red Dead on PS5 but not on Series X, especially since they can release those dumpster fire remakes of GTA on all platforms

Rockstar is such a strange company these days.

Rockstar were getting more bang for their buck on PlayStation and Switch than Xbox. There was no way to play it on PS4, PS5 and Switch like you could on Xbox. A lot of people in the thread about it here said they already had it and wouldn't buy it again at that price. I imagine some would now to play at 60 FPS, but at the time the differences hardly justified it.

Edit

Oh jeez I'm like everyone else in the thread and thought it was RDR2. Well, I might actually play RDR1 now

It wasn't so fkn hard if it took 1 month. Low effort crap.
And now we have physical rdr1 out there without 60fps

It's already been proven (by MVG) that the Switch version can easily handle 60fps so clearly this is the dev team choosing not to do it for whatever reason they decided.

I think the blowback by fans would have been less if they said 60fps update coming soon or something at the time of release. But then again I guess they implemented it for those very same reasons?
