So is this like souls hard? I know a lot of previews said this? Or is it managble?
As far as I have played: No.

But it feels just as rewarding. So I can understand that players say it feels soulslike.

PoE2 hooks you up with a steady flow of progress and then it throws a boss at you which spikes the difficulty.

When D4 is 1 and Elden Ring is a 10 in terms of difficulty, PoE is a well balanced 5. It's a good balance.

But again: that's just for the first 2 hours and for the Mercenary class.

Got my Witch to a level 7. I called her Miss_Baba_Yaga. Chaos magic is now starting to pay off. Drain is more powerful than my regular attack, so things die much faster. I haven’t noticed a souls type difficulty yet. I played for 3 hours. I did die a couple times from a few floor traps/explosions.

I am more intimidated by PoE2 after reading the OT, than I was of PoE ever lol. I just gotta turn it on, get in on PS5 assuming that I can, and pick the Warrior or the Witch and commit. A Guild sounds like fun, so I'd be interested in joining one.

How are the queues on PC and console? I worked a half shift tonight but now I'm home early and might take a shot if I can get in.

Umm ok I feel like there is something horribly wrong with this game, is movement response time dictated by network latency? Please tell me this is a practical joke on this games behalf 😅

There are no queues.

Aside from them working on the servers for an hour or 2 at launch its been plain sailing. The shop and website are down just now and remember this is an early access title so your experience might be different.

Are you on ps5? There does seem to be a small amount of input latency. Since everyone isn’t complaining about it I think it’s just on ps5 or server related.

Love the mechanics for the mercenary, switch from armor piercing ammo to group shot to grenades. It feels more powerful than my sorceress so far

I'm on ps5 and I have no input lag at all. Only thing that I noticed is some fps drops when there's a lot of action

Loved everything about the game except one thing:

Where are the mobility abilities? You get around maps at a snails pace, and it’s more shitty when you are full exploring and have to go all the way to an opposite end to find the one item or boss you missed.

At least in Diablo 2 you hit level 17 and presto movement speed is solved. Or PoE1 you get access to teleport dashes within the first 15 levels as well.

I’m hoping it comes soon because while the more methodical combat is much more appreciated, the feeling like I have chains with two fridges at my feet is not.

Movement response time is tied to network latency 😅😅 im playing from Australia and the game is unplayable, probably 500ms of input lag from stick to screen. I had no idea this is how the game would be built, I wish I could refund this garbage 😅 back to D4.
Is there no server for you guys?

I've rolled on the Australian server, no difference. Awful first impression of what is apparently "the best ARPG ever made".
Not sure what’s going on for you at all.

I have 0 input lag or latency. It’s buttery smooth on my end using California server from Colorado.

Some kind of bug or maybe setting?

Haven’t seen this complaint widespread. Is it on Reddit for a fix?

This is probably the first game in a long, long time (at least 10 years) where I sat and played nearly nonstop for almost 6 hours.

The pace has been very very good. Loving the Mercenary.
Yes, that's exactly what I did with PoE1.

Perfect games for binge-playing.

How‘s the onboarding for new players?
I‘m a Diablo vet and have played some PoE 1. In PoE 1, I found it hard to come to terms with all the mechanics and what activities are worth pursuing.

Step by step.

At its core, it's a very well designed game.

The UI and menu looked complex in videos, but I'm surprised how well you navigate everything with controller. Everything comes natural.

PoE2 is a showcase of video game craftsmanship.

Input lag issues solved here, changing servers doesn't trigger the save function. I think you need to change servers then change another setting which allows the change button to appear.
This was the answer for me!
I'm on PS5 Pro, and my initial connection had me in Texas, and there was at least 1 second of input lag. Not fun to play. After changing to my local, there was no difference at all, and the input lag was still there. However, after changing servers again, I changed another option which allowed me to save (square button). Then the issue was solved, and I have no input lag when I got playing again.

How does the multiplayer work exactly?

Do you see random players running around in hub areas similar to D4? Also, is there any kind of matchmaking for later end game stuff?

Glad I could help, obviously just a bug. I really was annoyed there for a sec thinking I wasn't going to be able to play purely because of my region.

It's just different art direction in my opinion.

PoE goes for a more realistic and sharper look.

D4 is more stylized and painterly.

Yeah, and to my eyes PoE 2 looks so much better it's crazy. Realism over that painterly style. The effects are way better as well.

Once we excited the town my son was greeted with a screen to hotkey the portal. I missed this and can't add it to my shortcuts, I can't it see on my character either

On the dualsense if you hold in the touch pad, you get a radial menu. The bottom option is the keybinds. It's how I get to skills(right) and passives(left) too, much faster.

Bought the EA on PS5, Why did I not get the 300 Coins? Do I have to activate them or something?
Game rocks, act 1 already better than all of DIV, damn.

PoE1 was to much for me, never got into it, PoEII is super easy to get into.

Get unlucky, play melee, and rush ahead without clearing zones and you'll die a lot. Clear zones to find all the bosses and get average luck for items, and it's not bad at all.

It was widespread for a while. On the other forum people were complaining constantly during the opening hours. It seems that consoles were being allocated to foreign servers. I got some comments on my youtube vid about the issue with others going through the same thing and they figured out how to switch servers or at least reconnect until the lag went away.

Otherwise, the netcode has been amazing on PC. Like single digit MS of lag.

Got lvl 15, game is good. Unique bow made it pretty easy though. I don't really have any good nodes for it either since I started as a Monk. Time to rest.

Hard transitioning from D4 to this game. Combat is very different, D4 is very much just run in, spam, clear mobs and move to the next, it's very quick and fluid.

POE2 is much more methodical, slower paced and lots of mob kiting. I don't remember many moments of kiting mobs in D4 and yet I'm only 2 hours into POE2 and I'm kiting a lot of stuff, running backwards and crossbow firing.

It will take some time to get used to this intention of playing.

Graphics are pretty good on PS5 Pro, playing with Quality mode, PSSR enabled, Dynamic Res scaling, Reflections and GI and 120hz. It's smooth as butter in the combat zones and hovers around 50-55 in the first town. It definitely lacks that classic Blizzard polish though, in terms of just visual consistency, fluidity and feel.

Unfortunately I haven't been drawn into the story at all, I've felt the need to skip a lot of dialogue as it's very generic fantasy blah blah stuff.

Overall I would give it a 7/10 so far but I have barely scratched the surface.

I hear of this game hype growing, but it seems like diablo, why should one try this if we do not enjoy using high APM mouse clicks through waves of enemies?

Is there some character roleplaying and strategy like BG3?

POE2 is much more methodical.
Yes, that describes it perfectly.

In D4 you have 6 skill slots. You press them in correct order and everything is great. It's very fast paced and flashy to an extent where you just mow through maps on autopilot without breaking a sweat.

In PoE2, the focus is much more on RPG elements that allow you to create (more or less) unique approaches to combat.

You can modify your skills in endless combinations. And in the end you can decide for yourself how your char plays.

D4 is flashy and on rails. PoE2 has a very pronounced strategic element to progress and comes with almost limitless freedom for character development.

So yeah, just played 6 hours straight lmao

This game is really the true successor to diablo 2, and I'm loving every minute of it.

Got my sorc up to like level 12 and it's actually awesome that I can use other classes' skills. I found that socketing the witch's basic necro skellies is really nice to have as a meatshield, although they're starting to get one-shot so I need to find an alternative soon.

I read that as Miss_Baby_Yoda at first :)

btw, i'm finding a lot of exalted orbs, i've got like 5 of the shits already. from my general knowledge of PoE1 these are very valuable in the endgame right? so I should be saving them for higher ilvl items?

Love it so far. Love the challenge, the need to actually use your brain a bit, mind your positioning and how to tackle mobs. Using more than one skill is refreshing 👌🏻

So logged on before the f1. This is so much more engaging than D4. Some thoughts:

1. I've had to turn down the UI Brightness to low on my OLED, worried about burn in from that;
2. Even though I was getting killed by the devourer I was still going back because I could visualise where my improvements need to come. It's challenging without being tedious;
3. I picked up a skill that I hate, does it matter? Have I wasted a finite resource here? It's sitting there at level 1 unequipped.
4. I find the roll a bit too sticky, I'm guessing stats improve this - is evasion rating one of them, or is that just basically %dodge?
5. Can I proper fuck my build up by spreading all my points generally. e.g. ive started investing in +% dmg, but I also want to take +%movement and +% speed
6. I really hope they fine tune the lock-on targeting on console. It sort of works at the moment in a fashion but really needs to be a bit more stickier when breaking into evades etc.

Loving it so far - I think we have until act 3 unlocked yeah? Until next year?
