What did everyone name their characters? I want to name mine something silly, like Chip the Monk or something equally harmless. I stress over naming characters so it makes it easier this way lol

Does anyone else thinks the image looks a bit washed out, i.e. the look could be more darker and rich in contrast? Both SDR and HDR.

3. I picked up a skill that I hate, does it matter? Have I wasted a finite resource here? It's sitting there at level 1 unequipped.
Pretty sure it does not matter, and you get skill gems throughout. Higher levels gems drop later on, and you unlock that level of the skill by putting the gem into your build. If you have a level 7 gem and you put it in a brand new skill, that skill starts at level 7. I haven't played yet, but I think that's how it's supposed to work.

5. Can I proper fuck my build up by spreading all my points generally. e.g. ive started investing in +% dmg, but I also want to take +%movement and +% speed
No, because you can respec that massive skill tree at any time by using gold at a certain vendor.

Loving it so far - I think we have until act 3 unlocked yeah? Until next year?
They're saying 6 months at least. The final game will have 3 more acts and 6 more classes, but there's already a lot of post campaign content in the early access version.

Twin stick feels amazing on controller. Inventory management sucks, but it works really well with ranged classes.
Left stick moves, right fires? For the life of me I can't understand why this isn't working for me. I'm using an 8bitdo Controller and the sticks work as I can move fine and the character faces where I want to go, just can't fire. I must be being extraordinarily stupid.

Enjoying this one a lot. Couldn't stay awake in hope of servers firing up last night, but had a good go at it this morning.

Picked sorceress and got to around mid-teens. Like the pace of things with this one, it's just how I liked to play Diablo 3.

Difficulty seems above D3 and well below D2 so far, but it's very early and if I could have chosen it myself this is where I'd have landed. Some retries vs bosses giving just the right amount of push back and feel good. If it gets alot harder I'm fine with that as long as I can spec into more survival and taking my time stuff.

Left stick moves player, right stick points player in direction wanted, assigned buttons perform skill in that direction.

I might get the 30th edge pad out of the box because I need those back buttons to assign the face buttons to in order to make this work well for me.

So what's this like on PS5 Pro? Wife and I are looking for a new couch coop game after getting through Baldur's Gate 3.
It's slick. PSSR on, other settings up and it's offering a very tidy image while running in the 80s-90s when I've checked through the TV.

Only performance issues I've seen is going back to town when playing on a busy server, frame rate tanked a couple of times like those instances were just broken and needed shutting down. Not an in-game thing. Maybe there will be maintenance to deal with these if it continues and they don't have a means of purging them. It's got me playing on the Amsterdam servers rather than London which would be a bit closer.

My God, the game is amazing.

Mercenary class is pretty much the most enjoyable twin stick shooter I've ever played. Slower, more deliberate combat, but continuous access to ammo mods. So you rotate through grenades, frozen shotgun, rapid fire. Zero cooldown. Plus, dual handed weapons on top of that.

Genuinely going to have to consider whether or not to play this though, as I'm not sure my marriage can handle this type of game.

Started as always with a minion class, and got my ass handed couple of times, but sincerely loving it... Now it's probably time to take a better look where I'm putting those passive points .. anyway great great game... GG GGG 😅

Asked this question a couple pages ago but no one answered. Are you locked into class variant when choosing characters? Like if I choose minions for which am I locked out of the other 2? I’ve created a couple different rangers but it still the same in what you start with.

Ended up going to sleep at 5AM and only because I was too baked to keep playing.

Wake up and the first thing that comes to mind is "play POE2 right now". Haven't been this hooked to a game since Elden Ring.

What do you mean? The ascendancy classes? If so they don't become available until part way into act 2

Gonna start playing more myself. Love the native controller support and what I look for in games is atmosphere and this game has it plenty. Gonna explore the previous zones before heading into the Hunting Grounds.

What I like about the methodical combat is that from enemies to bosses they all have their own attacks and patterns that require you to learn and adapt. But it also is done in a engaging way. It reminds me of boss design elements in FFXIV, Monster Hunter among others where some bosses either have audio cues, short or big windups, ground AoEs and what have you to encourage mobility instead of just going in and watching things die. Some attacks are obvious where other ones are much more subtle and actively require you pay attention or get wrecked.

It isn't one note like a Souls game might be with it's usual stab it in the back and battle of attrition encounter design.

Bosses from the Worm, Druid, Cemetery Bosses, the optional Ice Banshee all have been varied and interesting to fight. And especially on a show don't tell mentality where it's more about learning the boss instead of being told what to do. And your character only chips in if it's a big attack at least on the Worm's Tail. Nothing else.

And some bosses favor you be in melee or ranged but never seem to favor one or the other heavily. I really like the aspect that the choice of character class has good and bad matchups like in a fighting game. Fighting game muscle memory is gonna be really beneficial in this game I think.

I've got my Witch set up where they have Essence Drain as their main ability, a Curse to debuff, DoT skill, Bone Spikes for generating bone minions, Wall of Flame for choke points and I like using the Mana Wand for Mana Drain when I need to refill on Mana.

This game is pretty much Diablo but it's actually good.
 
My fellow warriors, against bosses I've found great success by holding block and attacking at the same time, and only dodging the big attacks. I'm not 100% sure, but it seems like there's no window of being hit vs. normal attacks when you're holding block and attacking, as long as your block 'treshold' is up so you don't stagger. This way you're blocking more effectively while doing damage consistently.
Holding block and moving is also a great way to deal with the (normal) projectiles when you're at a distance and they're going into their ranged/spell attack sequence.
It's a world of a difference compared to trying to occasionally block, dodge roll, and trying to get hits in by slam rolling and such (try-hard Souls playstyle). Shifting to blocking more is how I beat bosses that whooped my ass. Basically tank and spank more.

Game is incredible as we all expected. Can't wait until the streamers make it to the end game to see what the gameplay is like there and to finally have the meta shape up. I'm also curious what the "mageblood" of early access will be.

Ah poop, servers went out to get coffee. Was going to start leveling up some more finally got Ice strike that's just freezing up enemies. Might be good for geonor mist phase.

What name we give out to join the guild? J0hnnix keeping stuff the same.. one guy had boobygrabber as a name, my gf was loling.

Im rolling with merc. Bosses are a joke and i love how significant the loot and upgrades feels. Just got an OP passive buff and everyone is just blowing up lol. Controller is incredible in this game

Haven't followed it that much and never played the first, but it feels really good. Old school Diablo on drugs I mean even early with the skill trees, skill gems and all the systems.. The build variety must be insane. First I even got choice paralysis selecting class. I've tried Sorcerer and Mercenary and still can't really decide.

There is definitely a learning curve. I tend to get surrounded and die often. It's more Dark Souls than D4 in many ways. Can see myself spending a lot of time with this game.

I think those 3 "options" aren't options, just an explanation of what the class can do.

I played a 2H warrior and dabbled with a shield warrior. This game is so so fun. The dodge mechanic mixed with stuns and slows is like a tank dream. Regular enemies are nothing but some aoe circle bosses are a freaking problem.

The only bad thing I saw is the warrior abilities so far are ugly af compared to the ranged classes. Need more flash!

Something I'm running into: having equipped 2 different weapon types require 2 different main attack skills, yet it doesn't automatically switch to a different main attack when you switch weapons (x). I don't want to dedicate a keybind to just another main attack skill. It'd make sense if my main attack skill bind would just switch to the main attack skill that fits that weapon.
Is there a way to solve this?
