Path of Exile 2 Early Access |OT| An Exile like ARPG.

When it comes to the act 1 boss, is there an element he's weakest to? I already have a lot of lightning damage on my bow, but I'm not sure if I want more, or I should go with a fire rune, or perhaps even a frost rune. Any suggestions?

He does frost attacks in his second phase, so i'm guessing he's strong to frost

Not every game structures enemies as "his attacks use this element, so he's likely strong against that same element," though. You might be right, but does anyone actually know the best element to use against the boss in this fight?

I placed some socketed stuff in the guild chest, nothing ground bracking except a quality staff with 2 socket.

edit: This is not the right place to write it, sorry :( Figured out too late

Hopefully my kiting technique will still work. Shoot gas opposing direction, grenade, move towards that and then all mobs dies

Yup, that was my early game technique. Fun times :D

The double stack poison support gem, and the corrosion support gem go well with gas grenade, too.

Yep I've put corrosion in it with magnified effect for a larger aera of effect

I used to run that, and it makes sense, but I came to figure that I was moving to fast for that extra area to be useful since the AoE slowly grows over time. With the double stack poison Comorbidity, I can get more damage in sooner.

That might be the thing - I also check the vendor every level up for normal items of the next level restriction, magic items of the next level restriction, magic items with high tier mods, normal or magic items with sockets, and buy any that are useful or potentially useful.

I am enjoying the game. The gameplay is fine (*) - The moment-to-moment combat is pretty great (movement-blocking gangbang deaths notwithstanding).

It's not like gear is holding me back; it seems the combat is designed around aspiring to No-Hit runs (the Lab even reinforces that with the Honour system). So far, it's "easy" to overcome lack of drops with Player Skill so long as the attack skill gems are updated. But I feel like it's missing the extrinsic rewards expected by the genre (the intrinsic rewards of "Yay I Finally Killed the Souls Boss" is definitely fun for a first run, but I think it will take more for long-term retention for me at least. I guess we'll see).

Anyway I might as well join the guild if there's still room. TolueneBirdbath is my character name :D

(*) My only real mechanical complaint is that long-distance movement with the keyboard (esp. on a mechanical keyboard) is almost physically painful since everything is on a diagonal and requires holding down two keys constantly during the 5-plus-minute border-to-border map backtracks - it feels much better on controller; it even feels faster somehow. I think they could maybe fix the keyboard issue by adding a modifier key to hold to temporarily enable click-to-move; sort of like the opposite of +Shift to not move during attacks. They even have that capability already since that's how it works when you click-to-pickup an item.

So, I know I'm alone. But the main priority right now for GGG should be getting a zoom on controller. When I used a mouse earlier, I was constantly zooming in on the architecture and enemy gore. The game is so pretty.

Am I the only one that thinks the visuals aren't that great? The environments in particular are super drab and lacking in contrast.

It's easily the best looking game in the genre. Idk, it all comes together so well for me. Especially in motion with the spells effects. I'm also playing it maxed out. On Series S, it looks pretty terrible in comparison. Has DF done a comparison between PS 5 and PC?

The gears drop in this game is really bad for now.

I am Still early in Act 2, I have killed a few bosses already included that b*tch Balbala. This boss give me the most trouble until now, and she gives me nothing except a coin.

Playing warrior facing her is no good. None of my skill do enough damage so I have to swing the 2 hand mace to physically hit her and doge her attack with roll. Took me 30 minutes to killed her including dying alot more than I like to.

I can see why most people got frustrated with this game this early especially warrior class. We need gear, warriors do not do enough damage vs bosses this early. Most of my fight, I need to grind it out. Hopefully it will get better later on.

Downed Act 1 boss on my 2nd try. Well designed fight, I enjoyed most of Act 1, had some memorable areas. Running a Lightning Ranger right now, and it's been pretty solid.

Gear is starting to fall off though. I'm making sure I'm checking the vendors every level up.

But really you are alone because next time I log in I'm unbinding zoom functionality from the scrollwheel in favor of skills.

I'd take an option to zoom farther out though. But I've had that feeling in every top down style 3d rendered game I've ever played. Shit's zoomed in waaaay too much. Warcraft 3 and Starcraft 2 being the first examples that pop into mind.

More options are nice but at least it's way more zoomed out than PoE1. Also, I agree with you on being able to roll through urns and other destuctables. I think it's the way it is because of Diablo 2. In D2 you couldn't even destroy them with a abilities, so at least you can here. Speaking of zoom, I'm going to try to adjust the window to simulate widescreen in my 55" OLED. That helped A LOT in D4.

wondering how this compares to Diablo 2 when it comes to magic find, but I think it might be pretty awesome if the low loot forces magic find builds for farming

in Diablo 2, magic find builds are a must for farming, and require strategically planning for as it does require you make sacrifices elsewhere.

means magic find will be very important in this game

hah yes its all relative. here I was celebrating that I can finally destroy jars by hitting them or using abilities instead of manually clicking on each

I'm finally gonna start this damn game. (I'm watching a tiddy streamer play it at the moment lol).

Going Monk, maybe with a funny name. I will be totally clueless at first. I hope the guild accepts me!

Anecdotal, but I have about 20% increased rarity in levels 30s, and I find rare items and currency quite often. I think there is a bit of knee-jerk reaction going on with the "no loot" stuff. There are a lot of systems in the game and they need to be explored and tested.

Is there any word on an update to the lootdrops yet?

The more I think about it, the more the Act I boss is souring me on the game.
I've gotten multiple yellow armor pieces and lvl 5 uncut skill gems grinding simple mobs so I could take on the boss and after like a bazillion tries, it turns out the boss doesn't drop loot.

That's bad. This seems to me like one of the most fundamental aspects of a game like this and PoE2 is still in a really rough state in that regard.

Updates planned this week

I just noticed there are skill slots being prepared for Daggers and Spears, is that new? I don't remember seeing them. Could we be getting Shadow and Huntress soon?! Hope so!

Edit: Sword, Axe, Primal(Druid prob), and Flail too. Was I blind before, and they were already there? When I click on them all the slots say "Coming Soon"

"We will be deploying the following changes in an upcoming patch:
  • Player size is now set to Zero units while dodge rolling instead of One unit
  • Some smaller monsters can now be pushed while dodge rolling. This includes monsters such as the Adorned Beetles in Keth."
^Wow, that's a huge change and idk how I feel about it. It seems good to punish people pulling too many enemies but I can see it being super frustrating for HC so idk. Just read the rest, you can still be trapped but you can now slip through smaller gaps between enemies. Cool.

Everything that has been deployed so far:

0.1.0c Patch Notes

  • Campaign bosses killed after the first kill will now drop less currency items, replacing them with other items.
  • Increased the drop rate of Regal Orbs.
  • Significantly increased the drop rate of Gemcutter's Prisms.
  • A single Gemcutter's Prism also improves the Quality of a Skill Gem by +5% (previously +1%).
  • Lowered the drop rate of Chaos Orbs and distributed it amongst the other more valued Currency Items (Like Regal Orbs, Exalted Orbs).
  • Lowered the drop rate of Artificer's Orbs and distributed it to Lesser Jeweller's Orbs.
  • Disenchanting Rare Items with 6 Modifiers now provides 2 Regal Shards (previously 1). The value displayed will still show as 1 until a later patch.
  • Increased the values of all Prefix Modifiers that can roll on Waystones. We've also adjusted the chances of getting the more commonly powerful Modifiers such as increases to Rarity and Pack Size.
  • Monster Modifiers now grant higher amounts of Item Rarity and Item Quantity. This is most common on Magic and Rare enemies, but also affects Unique Enemies if applied through various Endgame Mechanics like the Deadly Evolution Keystone.
  • Increased the chance for Rare Monsters in Maps to have 3 or 4 modifiers.
  • Rare Monsters in Map areas are now revealed on the minimap when there are 200 Monsters remaining (previously 50).
  • Fixed a bug where some Persistent Buff Skills, such as Raging Spirits and Mana Remnants, were not working for the Infernalist when in Demon Form.
  • Fixed a bug where you could sometimes be unable to interact with the Map Device in The Ziggurat Refuge.
  • Fixed a bug where Monsters Shattered in a Blood Circle Ultimatum Encounter were not contributing blood.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause the instance to permanently stop time (freeze) when trying to revive a Chronomancer.
  • Fixed a bug where Rare Monsters could not be found within the Chimeral Wetlands.
  • Fixed a bug where "Move only" was name-locking.
  • Fixed three instance crashes.
  • Fixed a client crash.

This patch has been deployed without restarting the servers. You will need to restart your client to receive the client changes in this patch.

Restart your clients if you've been on a 16 marathon. Super happy that these were small download, was able to DL them super fast even on my works abysmal wifi.

Have I screwed up my build, or is there a site with recommendations for this character? Feel like I'm outputting very little damage at level 8. Is there a way to respec?

Crash on PS5 Pro :(

I know it's early access but even the PoE1 client still crashed occasionally on the PS5 the last time I played. Hope they can iron them out, nothing worse than random crashes.

I bought a flask tab for the guild stash to better organize our flasks. Only donate flasks that have the "gains charges per second" modification, because that's the only one that's worth a damn.

If you check out a flask, please return it when you upgrade to the next tier of flask, thank you!

They said Huntress is almost ready so we might get it this month or next month.
Ugh. That's what i want to play the most, but the current state of the game being such a fucking slog the idea of rerolling again seems like a chore instead of excitement.

I'm level 40 some now and close to completing act 3 on my Pathfinder.

Fair warning to all Sorc mains to be - don't bother with lightning that shit is doo doo. Go Ice and Fire. My sorc was bricked going lightning and I'm glad I didn't try to keep forcing it and ended up on pathfinder instead.

Poison with 7 stacks, instantly melting the screen, bosses safely being shredded, and survivability out the ass with focus on max evasion. I just did the boss in the molten lava line, and he only got me halfway into his conveyor of death by just spamming gas cloud into toxin orbs on ground. Cloud makes them explode so his health bar melted. When mapping i just gas cloud into a 5 shot spread on my poison arrow blowing stuff up.

Still too early to take acrobatics, but once I do and can maintain high evade nothing will touch me.

Unfortunately I don't think they'll do this, at least on consoles, the game has enough performance issues without needed to display even more stuff on the screen

I also bought a second quad tab. I'm going to rearrange the gear library a bit and consolidate things. The first quad tab will be for levels 1-20.
