PEAK sells 1 million copies in 6 days

There might be more to this one, the publisher who picked this up also published Another Crab's Treasure and Subway Midnight.

There is certainly creativity in the design, but I can't stand how generic games like this and Schedule 1 look.

Schedule 1 is legitimately good IMO. Is it the best game I ever played? No. But for $16 or whatever it's a very entertaining game. Giving people meth named Seattle Ass Blaster and mixing it with horse semen then watching them shit their pants and burst into flames is a good time.

It's not a judgement about the quality of the game design, rather how they all kind of look the same almost like they are all picking from the same generic asset pool. We see this a lot in the work simulator genre too.

Lol, lots of salty people in here.
Never heard of the game but I looked up a trailer and it looks fun. Seems like an original idea that is fun to play with friends ...and it's like $5.

God forbid people enjoy something that isn't a AAA sad dad cinematic game or a soulslike.

It seems the current trending genre is games that you play with friends. Like R.E.P.O, Phasmophobia, Lethal Company, Content Warning

"We're excited to finally drop the MESA update on an island near you. Explore the sandy terrain under the blistering sun. There are plenty of areas to find shade, and quite a few mysteries lie within..."

Featuring new:
  • Dust Devil Tornadoes
  • Heat Damage from the Sun (be sure to stay in the shade)
  • Parasols (to block sun damage)
  • Balloons (to help with an extra lift when climbing and jumping)
  • Scout Cannon
  • Sunscreen (helps with sun damage)
  • Aloe Vera (helps with sun damage)
  • Dynamite crops (will light and explode when in proximity)
  • Cool off periods during the night cycle
  • Cacti that will stick to the player and cause damage unless taken off
  • And tumbleweeds
Also features balance changes (like slower fog in the first biome) and improvements to the game's performance.

Saw this the other day as I really think I like climbing games. Well I liked Jusant and Cairn looks great. But I don't have any interest in the co-op aspect.

Grabbed it the other day, I actually enjoy climbing in BotW/TotK so this game was made for me.
But with me being an antisocial curmudgeon, I play solo. Made it to the third desert biome, where I got killed by something I couldn't see.
Most hilarious death was climbing a tree to grab a coconut, with a full inventory so it bonked my noggin and sent me tumbling down the mountain.

There's a lot to improve on the concept, but I like it.

Wow. 5m units sold and I've never even heard of it.
I suspect there might be a few 'out of nowhere' nominations at the TGAs this year.

It might make things more exciting like movie award shows where people will get to hear about certain games that could have slipped under their radar but are worth checking out due to a nomination.
