Well, if he's in the right part of LA, he'll experience that soon enough if he continues to pull the crybaby routine.
oh i was over there and it never happened on the 405.
then i went to east LA ... and i saw some things

I actually completely misunderstood this post I think. I thought you were saying how annoyed you were when someone missed the left turn lane and then tries to turn from the next lane over at the last minute (essentially blocking an entire lane of traffic for their mistake).
I think you're mad about people turning into store lots and such that have no left turn lane? If thats the case, you just need to get over it.
This reminds me of my failed traffic campaign:
Stay Straight: Because Turning Left isn't a Right
"Two wrongs don't make a right, but two rights make a left."
Needless to say, it never got off the ground.
People don't already do this? Baffling.Pull to the middle of the intersection and turn through the red. Someone making a legal left turn without a turn lane should never hold up traffic for more than one light rotation. One hour? Get out of here.
I tried that after reading that UPS article but my city's infrastructure is so shitty that that is impossible to do. But I only turn to the left if it's a legal turn.People who ever make left turns at all are clowns. Learn to UPS.
I only dislike it when people make left turns when there is a sign that says no left turns. Those people are terrible.
Shared roads would fix a lot of common traffic issues. It is a concept that seems strange at first (even absurd) but the few places that have used it have seen dramatic improvement in traffic flow and safety. It would however be fairly costly to implement in the US since it would require both road and intersection redesigns in order to retrain drivers from a lifetime of conditioning and bad habits on the road.

Guess it's the OP behind the wheel.

How about learn to anticipate where you are going?![]()
Is this accurate? So the people behind the turner get pissed?
yeah but then you run into buses. You have to zig zag through the traffic.Defensive driving teaches that the right lane is always the lane of least resistance. Sorry.
This topic might not hit as hard for people who don't live in a traffic heavy city like LA, but I'm of the opinion that this is one of the most underreported symptoms of sociopathy of our time.
So you're driving home, traffic is already moving pretty slowly, and suddenly your lane just stops. Just completely stops while the next lane whizzes right along. In the distance you eventually see the light ahead turn red, and one solitary car turns left. The driver held up 10 or 20 people for several minutes to make that turn. 10 to 40 or even an hour of aggregate life completely lost so that one person could make a turn.
What gets my goat is that in most cases, there are other options. Usually you can find an intersection with an actual left turn lane within a block or two, and you can either double back or go up a street. If you have to get into a driveway that's only accessible from the street you're on, you can make a u-turn further down the road and turn into the driveway from the right. In short, there's very rarely a reason for anyone to screw over dozens of people for such selfishness.
I've made it my policy to honk incessantly if I'm immediately behind the driver doing this. If I manage to get into the next lane to go around the driver, I make sure to flip the bird as I go past. More people need to flip the bird for this shit. People need to know that it's not okay.
Thankfully, LA has started putting in no left turn signs at a lot of intersections where there are no left turn lanes, but those restrictions are usually only in effect from like 4 to 6pm. They should really be in effect from 8am until at least 8pm.
Your thoughts or experiences with this?
I'm from the UK and can't comprehend this.
Paint pls?
The left turn problem is a symptom of things not being setup properly.
If it's a legal turn then fuck off. If it impedes traffic so much then write the city to put up no turn signs at that intersection.
People don't already do this? Baffling.
It's technically illegal to sit in the middle of the intersection to wait for your spot to turn left. So if there are drivers that don't do it, as annoying as it is, they are following the letter of the law.
People who ever make left turns at all are clowns. Learn to UPS.
OP, they're 100% in the right here to make their left turn where they legally can, and you're 100% being the annoying driver.I've made it my policy to honk incessantly if I'm immediately behind the driver doing this. If I manage to get into the next lane to go around the driver, I make sure to flip the bird as I go past. More people need to flip the bird for this shit. People need to know that it's not okay.

Docpan is that you
Wait a second ... if you have to turn left, what the hell are you supposed to do, just not go where you have to go for the sake of people behind you? You beep at people who are turning left into their driveway instead of pulling a u-turn further up the road? OP is clinically insane and should not have a license.
95% of the left turns I make are in lanes that aren't dedicated to left turns or at lights without left turn signal. Welcome to New England, where roads were put into a pre-existing city, instead of cities being put into pre-existing roads.
40/60? Are we reading the same thread. I think one maybe two people have agreed with you in this thread.
I live in LA, and yeah, it's kind of annoying, but its part of the beast. You should really just chill out and anticipate better and merge to the right lane
Wow, you are a fucking piece of work.

If anything I'm standing up for the drivers behind me who are also being delayed by this idiot microaggressing against them. They probably appreciate it. I'm the hero they deserve.
Where is this illegal? And it's not like you're gonna get hit by oncoming traffic or anything either as you wait. At least not in Ontario, Canada. It's technically illegal to sit in the middle of the intersection to wait for your spot to turn left. So if there are drivers that don't do it, as annoying as it is, they are following the letter of the law.
You don't appreciate it.
I've gotten incredible catharsis out of being behind someone who did this.
So, you're still only thinking about yourself not giving a single shit about other drivers on the road, and somehow the other people are sociopaths? What's wrong with you?
