Metacritic isnt a very good indicator of public reception. I mean its literally opinions of very selective couple dozen people.

Persona 2 has a lot of carry over and characters from Persona 1, but aside from references, P3, 4, and 5 are very standalone.

Don't pay much attention to fanart but that GOTY 2017 Japan pic is pretty good lol

These reviews just make it hurt knowing the game is not out till next week on a busy work schedule :(

True, I just meant that you can play it without P1 and it's still a well-rounded game and storyline on its own.

Even P4 has references and cameos from P3.

No, infact going by what reviewers are saying generally this is a damn good turn based RPG to be a gateway to the genre and it has a much faster introduction compared to previous Persona games.

This year has been crazy good and this month alone I have Persona 5, Cosmic Star Heroine, Shiness and Dragon Quest Heroes II.

Now that I think about it it probably sold more than all of those combined even with Zelda right now. Persona will move maybe 1.5-2 million WW at best. Which I believe FFXV will do the upcoming year or two with sales.

Does anyone know if there are any notable differences between the PS3 and PS4 versions of this? I don't have a PS4, so I'm pretty glad this is coming out on PS3 as well.

Don't really care about graphics, but I assume everything else is the same?

P2EP is probably the strongest callback to past games, but yeah you're right that it is still great standalone. I enjoy how many references are sprinkled, even P3 has (albeit very minor) references to P1&P2. I played very little of my Japanese copy of P5, but it seems that it really only references past games about as much as P3 does. So probably a really good starting point for new players who can't play the older ones first.

Yeah it's just 720p as opposed to 1080p and some longer load times.

It was originally a PS3 game ported to PS4, there shouldn't be any issues as far as I know.

this is about acessibility, its not about the quality of the game.

If a book or movie is released only in english, but its a masterpiece, you Will not say the movie/book is bad because its not in your language.

And i'm a brazilian we suffer way more than spanish speakers in this regard.

Yes, this is for the western peasants because japan got these in 2015 or 16 and console exclusive being purposely vague because some came on PS3 and also.

All this to say, we cannot even today, match the glorious PS2 era.

If we keep asking them chances are quite good we might get it, considering they managed to make Atlus JP budge on their Japanese Audio policy, something I still consider a minor miracle.

It really triggers me that most reviewers seem to have reviewed the Japanese version of the game.

Like in the "God is a Geek" review, the reviewer calls the SL system Cooperation's when in the western version they are called Confidants. And the lack of attention on the English dub is pretty upsetting.And then there are a ton of screenshots with Japanese text and UI when it has been tweaked a lot for the Western version.

Examples. Dialogue boxes are bigger, chat boxes wider. Persona TAKEN instead of GET, various other context sensitive actions have names changed from the original Japanese version.

Yeah, faster load times are important for me. No doubt I have to Load my save file a lot, to get some of the trophies.
