Persona 5 Review Thread

What about the japanese dubbing? I remember promises about it when they delayed the game again, but is it actually confirmed in-game?

I'm glad this is getting recognition. It feels like the epitome of Japan just doing what it does confidently without worrying about trying to confirm to other regions.

If P4 wasn't your thing I'd have a hard time seeing this game changing it but it always depends on what your actual problem was. If it was the slow beginning P5 more active and involved in media res approach might have a higher chance to get the train rolling for you but who knows.

The slow beginning didn't help for sure, but I got past that. The dungeons just seemed boring, and I felt like I was spending 75% of the time in a dating sim which isn't my thing, even though I do like anime. I do like the art style and much better in this one and the non-portable level graphics are a plus, and the non-random dungeons might help. So maybe.

My biggest concern is really that I just see no way I'll actually stick with it for 100 hours to see the end. But really that would apply to any 100 hour game at this point. I'll probably still give it a shot eventually, but a lot of stuff to play in the meantime.

That's a decently written review. I got no beef with it.

Now now DDOS'ing the website is not a good idea.

I actually wanted to see what they listed as negatives. And I was surprised to learn that I agree with them rather than finding a lot of pointless nitpicking. I suspect a lot of reviewers would also make similar mention of the game's weaknesses, but not necessarily count them against the final score.

Hot stuff

Ready for that midnight unlock
so that I don't have to wait until the next day for my TYH edition

Are there any PS3 specific reviews or impressions? I don't have a PS4 and I'm trying to decide if it's still worth getting the last-gen version.

Finally here. This is going to be one of those games I can tell.
Also, I'm so fuckin ready for some chill turn-based combat after Dark Souls/Nier/Zelda.

Well the dungeons are improved they're not randomly generated blocks anymore. It's still very much a "dating sim" in the persona kind of way though so if you weren't into those character stories given it's one of the main draw on the series the game is probably not going to do much more for you.

Just by looking at the Metacritic

Zelda Breath of the Wild: 97
Persona 5: 95
Nier: 89
Dark Souls 3: 89
Nioh: 88
Yakuza 0: 85
Xenoblade Chronicles X: 84
Tales of Berseria: 79

FF XV 81

Final Fantasy has seen the smallest success compared to other Japanese RPG franchises.
It seems they had a reason for asking people whether they would buy persona 5 or FF XV if released at the same date.

I was gonna mention the great review scores, but then I realized I never heard the full version of the theme song. Is it April 4th yet?
