Maybe? Not really, in the vein of SMT, FF etc. Even Nintendo call it an Adventure game. Genre stuff is always complicated.
Hmmm no way it settles at 37 critics. Any chance it could even go up to 95?
This Review Thread is best celebrated while listening to "Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There" by Shoji Meguro.
I thought this was a P5 review thread, but seems like it's yet another review thread for the usual suspects to come in and shill some more about Zelda. Zelda is a great game, love it, but do it's fans have to derail every review thread that comes along?
Any chance of Giant Bomb doing any Endurance Run for this? The series was kind of dead, but they seemed to revive it with Shenmue.
From their recent AMA on reddit: Pretty much no chance.
1080p on PS4
720p on PS3
30fps on both

But doesn't it pretty much have every RPG element needed to be an RPG game? I haven't played the game myself so I'm actually curious, cause the few trailers that I've seen from it made me think it was an RPG game. Loots, different weapons, outfits, quests, etc.No, it really isn't. It has almost nothing in common with JRPGs, outside of being developed in Japan.
No 60FPS on PS4? Well and there I thought that would have been nice on the PS3 but seeing the PS4 also only has 30 FPS it doesn't really matter that I will play it on my good old PS3... in 2017, heck that system had legs

Actually they have yet to count the 8 from edge and the 7 from digital trends so it may go to 93 after that.Hmmm no way it settles at 37 critics. Any chance it could even go up to 95?
Weird, i could swear i read that it was 60fps on PS4 many times.Unfortunately not. No planned Pro patch either, which is why just like you I'm leaning a bit more towards getting this on my PS3. It's cheaper, my PS3 has a 7200 RPM HDD so it'll load a bit quicker which takes care of the only other big difference i've read between the two besides resolution (PS4 has faster loading times).
The PS4 version completely blocking the sharing options also adds to the above.
It's an open world (well, open air according to Nintendo... and the name makes much more sense than it seems) adventure game with a few survival mechanics. But doesn't it pretty much have every RPG element needed to be an RPG game? congrats in advance.
5 hours in and I'm LOVING it.

Nioh, Yakuza, Nier, now this. JAPAN BABY
Breath of the Wild is close, but I wouldn't really call it an RPG. You don't level up or put points into skills. The critical path stuff is more focused on puzzle solving than battles or anything else.

In my experience they'll cancel a pre order one time as s gesture of goodwill, otw the order is finalThere's a problem though. I've pre-ordered it on PSN. I wonder if can cancel it.

Time to put those PS3's out to pasture.
Thanks. While i always prefer 60fps it's not really a problem here considering the type of gameplay. Hopefully it never dips and has steady frame pacing. It's not sadly
Both in-game and menu's are 30 FPS reportedly.
I mean, there are certainly more rpg elements compared to previous entries but they don't make it a "full" rpg just like the survival elements don't make it a "full" survival game. It's still an adventure, with some "contaminations" from these genres that help balancing and building a more complex and varied gameplay.Thank you for the replies.
Hmm, then I guess it's a case how we define RPGs to ourselves.
Yeah this is a good advice, YT spoiled me way too much stuff during the years.Just as an FYI, you may wanna clear out your viewing/searching history on YouTube if you watched the Persona 5 video reviews. I'm already seeing how in a week or two YouTubers will be doing their thing, posting Persona 5 videos with flashy/spoilery titles and thumbnails which will very likely show up on your recommendations. I've had way too many games' plot points spoiled like this, and I'm not letting it happen again.
No way. It'll be on the list, but it's not good enough for the top spot.
It'll almost certainly be Zelda.

Other than that I'm stoked for this. Should be finishing Nier either today or tomorrow, Zelda will continue being the pick up and play game like it has been up until now.
I guess it's just that for the past few years the genres like "adventure games" and "RPGs" have really started to blend in together more and more so it's becoming harder to actually tell them apart. Especially since nowadays almost every game has some sort of RPG element to it.I mean, there are certainly more rpg elements compared to previous entries but they don't make it a "full" rpg just like the survival elements don't make it a "full" survival game. People are making Zelda become that guy nobody wants to hangout with cause he brags all the time, but does only cause he picks up the tab. lol
Every time Zelda is mentioned it comes along with the downplaying of another game and I seriously don't get it. Plus Persona 5 will get some GOTY awards, it's not getting 9's and 10's for nothing.
Not even 60 on the Pro? Sounds like a lazy port to me, and they even want a lot more money for it than on the PS3.
Wake up, get up, get out there
Raise your voice against liars
Feed your anger like fire
Why does nobody want change?
Just imagine you're out there
Swatting lies in the making
Can't move fast without breaking
If you hold on life won't change

Lol, now I'm wondering if they ever posted in a P5 thread. No, but seriously your guess is as good as mine. Regular forum talk led to GOTY talk so that probably led to Zelda. A resolution bump would have been really nice, since the game suffers from jaggies.

I know the soundtrack is apparently a bit more jazzy but tunes like Your affection were just too good in P4G haha.
P6?Lol, now I'm wondering if they ever posted in a P5 thread. No, but seriously your guess is as good as mine. Regular forum talk led to GOTY talk so that probably led to Zelda. Don't give a fuck what the fans say though, if Persona lives up to the hype it'll be my GOTG...
Until P6.
Get Nier first since it's shorter then Persona. You can beat Nier in 25hrs, while this game will likely take you more than 100.So, should I get Persona 5 (would be my first Persona) or Nier Automata then?

Lol, you know that's P5 Dancing till Dusk though. Atlus gotta reap that sweet, sweet Persona spin-off money.
