Maybe? Not really, in the vein of SMT, FF etc. Even Nintendo call it an Adventure game. Genre stuff is always complicated.

The OOT style Zeldas definitely aren't jrpgs. The new one I would argue is the (better) Japanese equivalent of something like the Tomb Raider reboot series. I can rephrase my question to be highest reviewed turn based jrpg to get around that debate, but it seems like the answer is yes.

There are some outside issues, I believe, that are keeping it somewhat lower now. I expect we'll see more as people get their copies early.

No, it really isn't. It has almost nothing in common with JRPGs, outside of being developed in Japan.

But doesn't it pretty much have every RPG element needed to be an RPG game? I haven't played the game myself so I'm actually curious, cause the few trailers that I've seen from it made me think it was an RPG game. Loots, different weapons, outfits, quests, etc.

Unfortunately not. No planned Pro patch either, which is why just like you I'm leaning a bit more towards getting this on my PS3. It's cheaper, my PS3 has a 7200 RPM HDD so it'll load a bit quicker which takes care of the only other big difference i've read between the two besides resolution (PS4 has faster loading times).

The PS4 version completely blocking the sharing options also adds to the above.

Breath of the Wild is close, but I wouldn't really call it an RPG. You don't level up or put points into skills. The critical path stuff is more focused on puzzle solving than battles or anything else.

Actually they have yet to count the 8 from edge and the 7 from digital trends so it may go to 93 after that.

We waited long enough though, Japan wasn't performing well lately, Capcom seems to be back on track with RE7 too. 2017 really is a great year to be a gamer with a preference for Japanese games.

Resolution improvements are more important and 1080p is much nicer than 720p.

Not even 60 on the Pro? Sounds like a lazy port to me, and they even want a lot more money for it than on the PS3.

If I had a PS4 it would be a close call I guess, though 1080p is a nice resolution boost but I don't think it will be that bad as my TV outputs 720p quite well and there are probably no differences(I saw comparison shots and they were looking exactly the same) in detail as the PS3 was the lead platform for the game and the PS4 version was created later on.

Time to put those PS3's out to pasture.

Never. P5 will be my PS3s swan song, even more beautiful than the original swan song, The Last of Us, was years ago.

Just as an FYI, you may wanna clear out your viewing/searching history on YouTube if you watched the Persona 5 video reviews. I'm already seeing how in a week or two YouTubers will be doing their thing, posting Persona 5 videos with flashy/spoilery titles and thumbnails which will very likely show up on your recommendations. I've had way too many games' plot points spoiled like this, and I'm not letting it happen again.

Other than that I'm stoked for this. Should be finishing Nier either today or tomorrow, Zelda will continue being the pick up and play game like it has been up until now.

It's still an adventure, with some "contaminations" from these genres that help balancing and building a more complex and varied gameplay.

Edit: seriously tho, talking goty, it's more contenders this year. Zelda, Horizon, P5, and others personal favorite. It'll be hard for any one game.

Took the advice and hope it's enough. Been fortunate to only have seen early trailers as well as the main cast. Have no idea what the plot or characters themselves are like. I would suggest to not even read YouTube comments. Was once spoilt on bioshock infinite while watching a last of us review through the comments.

First let me say that the "lazy devs" arguments needs to fucking stop once and for all. You seem well spoken enough to put some thought into it and understand why by yourself.

That said, even if I understand why a 60fps option may be a good thing,

1) I don't know what you are expecting from Atlus, the same company who released P4 on the ps2 well into the ps3 gen.

2) how 60fps is going to alter gameplay in a any way for a game like this? I'd wait for a DF analysis to know if the frame pacing is ok before even thinking about that.
