Are you referring to Soejima's original character renders for Persona 3/4 or Stella Deus? I don't think they're really that close to the early days of Kaneko's new (well, current) style like Persona 2 or Maken X's characters, comparing the two styles together.

Find a Japanese game you love that will never come out here, damn the logistics, and dive right in.
The style is very different, and that's why I said pale-ish color, like Soejima's trying to match with older Atlus game vibe. Current Soejima artwork is very colorful compared to his older work.
Yakuza Kenzan and 5? That would be suicide for me.
I might do this with EPP some day. Especially since I've already played it so I'll know what's going on.

The pale gothic look is only in the advertisement art in Persona 2, the in game portraits use the familiar anime style:

There's ery good guides for Kenzan. It's a good start.
That's my current project, off and on. I'll probably commit to it once I finish my replays of Revelations and IS PS1.
I got as far as Wang Long Chizuru, which isn't half bad.
I love how goofy some of the negotiations are in P1&2.

It's the fuckin' kanji you gotta work out.

Kanji and vocab are what killed me in my tracks, honestly. Mind you, I just lost the motivation to continue it.
Yeah, it wasn't the katakana itself so much as thinking, 'I'm going to have to learn another alphabet and THEN learn kanji as well?'

There should be a Persona spinoff written entirely from Mean Girls quotes.
Meh resolution aside, the P2 duology probably has the best portrait sprites in the series. They're much more dynamic than what you see in 3 or 4, and don't have that "cheapy" look that the P1 sprites do.

Definitely. They have a lot of different poses and body language to them. That's my one complaint about P4's art, the portraits are much more static.

One thing I've noticed in P1 though, is that some of the Persona designs are badass.
Yeah, I actually think I like P1's Personae more than 2's. They're a little less over-the-top.

I'm not fond of the P1 Portraits, they come as cheap and kinda creepy, like the casino attendants come to mind. They make the manakins in Nocturne look like normal people.

Philemon's happily enjoying his retirement.
I'm planning to buy it later when my listening is good enough to took one word or two and learn more kanji. It'll be a good learning tool especially with the translation guide to accompany it.

Outside of acquiring certain part time jobs, it hasn't really been much of an important factor in dialogue choices like Courage, Expression, and Understanding have been for me. But hey, first playthrough ever and all, so take my word with a grain of salt. Also, hello PurseownerGAF!

Oh yeah, I forgot it affected fishing during the three times that I tried it. I didn't have much of a reason to fish more after that.
