Persona Community Thread |OT8| Coming Winter 2014

One thing I've been left wondering from PV#03 all these months is who is the mysterious man that explains what Personae are and (spoiler marking this second bit just to be safe)
that you can use "that" to go between Palace and the real world
?

The lines...sound like something that would perfectly fit Igor given his usual role in these games, but if that's Igor's new seiyuu then holy shit that's a radical change. Of course, the more likely explanation is it's a totally different character speaking those lines.

Possibly. That would be interesting though since the same voice also talks about 'If you use this, you can get to the palace' which seems more involved than usual for Igor. Is the voice when he looks at the phone one of the twins' voices?

Also, the PV#2 may be the most interesting in that it seems to pinpoint a final-ish villian character?
P5_Villian.gif

The voice when he summons Arsene doing the usual 'I am you, you are me' saying this.

There's also the fact that the characters' eyes seem to turn yellow when using personas now?

I remember there was a theory
that the Persona you are using aren't entirely friendly and have some kind of agency.
Though that could be completely wrong.

It is also kinda weird how Arsene appears in the third trailer when using that chain, but in the past, the inital persona would appear at most in the beginning and end.

Even in the second teaser trailer ,
Arsene
is almost introduced / hinted almost in a villain way.

Time stopping in Dio Brando style ,
blue flames
and the look in Phantom -kun seems more ready to fight it than
"accepted" as his true self

Plus i remember some guy saying all the cutscenes in that trailer was from the anime , not the game (im not see the point of Atlus doing tho)
.... but hell if that use that kind of animation for the ova or whatever is gonna be beautiful looking.

Do you think it might be a balance of persona and smt where the persona will make a deal with each individual character. That being said, it would be odd with mc as he rotates his persona based on tradition.

It'd be weird to make a deal since Personas and demons are actually very different. If anything, it seems like it'd need Arsene to be a darker side of the protagonist if he ultimately comes from the protagonist himself. That said, the game also seems to have some kind of concept of 'stealing' personas (or other people's aspects/stealing their heart) instead of just flat-out fusing them or the cards where the idea is you pull them out of your own psyche.

Edit: Actually, that's an interesting concept. Rather than the previous protagonists who used Personas that came from themselves, Arsene might be the only persona that actually comes from the protagonist himself.

Maybe they time around the Mc has to face his own shadow but with a Twist, he is playing with the Group he send them Letters where he will be and they have to catch him. At first he seems to be the root of all problems but later you realize that he actually heleped you.

Nah not really.

I kinda like the theory that Igor & the velvet room assistants will be your enemy in P5. (Or at least less kind & helpful to you than the other games.)
It does make sense that someone else gives you info on
how you can enter the Palace. In P3 & P4 Igor doesn't really explain what the tv world is and how to go in it or how the Dark Hour works.
If I remember it correctly you learn that from other characters.

The P4DAN version of it is great too.

Whenever a character in Persona 4 gets their Persona, the following message pops up: "XXX has obtained the facade used to overcome life's hardships, the Persona XXX!" The keyword here is "facade". A persona (as defined by Jung) is essentially a role that you take on, but it's not necessarily who you really are. A role like that may be pushed onto you by society and that's where the idea has some interesting parallels to the Japanese honne (~the "true self") and tatemae (~the part of yourself that you're willing to show to the public) concepts. Some people find it apparently increasingly difficult to deal with the difference between the honne and the tatemae in Japan, which (according to some researchers) is the reason behind the hikkikomori phenomenon.

Tl;dr: A Persona isn't necessarily "good".

I'm playing P4G again and I noticed how Chie tells Yosuke to stop calling her late at night with dirty jokes. I was holding my Vita and I honestly laughed so hard.

And, uh... Yukiko is awesome but her blushing face looks so weird.

I wonder whose the legal guardian for the Chosen One. Dojima just gave me alotta cash for doing good in school. Thanks, man!!! I wonder if we'll get that in P5. I'm hoping for either a shady guardian who really doesn't care what you do or a super supportive guardian.

Apparently, he lives at a cafe that his parents' friend owns. That actually makes me think he pretty much lives by himself (or with Morgana anyway) since its specifically the cafe instead of where they live. I guess that makes it easy to form plans there.

Interesting... so cafe job confirmed?

If that's the case then I think we can expect a invite a friend over to work at the cafe to increase social link. Could end up being a decent hub as well if there's a considerable amount of time in the real world which seems to be the case based on the trailer.

Hello everyone

So people have been throwing around wild theories on the remaining party members that will appear in P5, and I've decided to throw my hat in the ring. Now I've seen all kinds of great speculation, but consider this:

eTmWn1J.png

Black man in black (or bmib for short) sticks out for several obvious reasons, and it is my belief that he will be the next Persona 5 party member. Why? Well consider his expression; his coworkers have a bored look, but bmib is curious. Curious about what exactly? Well we're rather short on details, but it is my belief that he's aware of the existence of the Phantom and is intrigued by him. But why? Well consider his actual existence of course! He's a black man in Japan working the security detail... he must feel incredible marginalized and isolated, and weighed down by the harsh realities of society. And what is P5 explicitly about? Breaking free from those chains that bind you! It is my belief that once the Phantom clashes with bmib, he'll be incorporated into the group, allowing him to pursue his true dream of owning an otaku shop and relieving racial tensions throughout all of Japan.

But hey, that's just a theory....

Good enough for me. Now predict his Persona.

Sounds more like a social link. But yeah. Aside from the whole 'evil sounding arsene' thing, we do seem to be dealing with a group of these people dressed like that including the woman interrogating the phantom who I guess is run by some old due that was yelling 'Who are you!?' to the phantom in the last trailer.

Chie and Rise's blushing art is just their standard smile art with blush added on top. Yukiko's smile portrait, doesn't work with blush so they had to change her expression.

I think they're just casino security guards.

We do see them (PV2)
turn into demons/shadows/masked things though.

It's a Final Fantasy 7 guest character

I'm starting to think that we might be going p3 with a an opposing group of persona users. Since we're hinted to be thieves and mc has lupin, I could easily see a detective group with a Sherlock Holmes persona in the group. That's my stupid theory in throwing out there.
