The fire emblem awakening person did neptunia?
No wonder I loved both of them.

Wut?

No.

Surely can tell the difference in art? Kozaki worked on No More Heroes, Fire Emblem and a couple of other things. His art is very identifiable.

Also Neptunia is gross.

I figured that was what he was implying. That's why I was confused, because they are vastly different.

And no, neptunia is awesome. Well, the later two, the first sucks.

It pales compared to Path of Radiance's. I'm shocked that isn't common knowledge.

While there are some highlights, I don't think that it's superior to other designs in the series. I'll give you that PoR designs are quite good. Also, I must admit that I'm pretty partial to Kozaki, since I love his designs.

Mmm... Since the series usually changes artists for each game, how about using Soejima as character designer for the next game in the series? ;)

I'm familiar with Path of Radiance's art, and furthermore I'm familiar with most of Senri Kita's work. I'm not sure what's supposed to be common knowledge here.

(I really wish I had a high res of this, as an aside)

In technical and stylistic terms, Kozaki is a mastermind.

I like FEs old art, but I think it's a little more generic (only a negative if you make it one) whereas Kozaki obviously has a fairly distinct style. Which is good, as it contributes to FE establishing a stronger sense of self, which I think it needed.

Hot damn that first one. That's really awesome.

I was one of the few who stuck by the new art from the very beginning. I'm really attracted to Kozaki's distinct style and he generally makes all of his character look really good.

I agree. Awakening was my first FE game, and the crazy stylish artstyle was one of the things that drew me into it. I love Gaius, Priam, Donny, Severa, and Lucina's designs in particular.

On a related subject, I'm really not digging Sam Riegel as Phoenix in AA5. I love him, but his voice really doesn't sync up with how Phoenix's supposed age now. It's just jarring.

Seems that that's the majority opinion. I'm fine with it, but it is true that the VA makes Phoenix sound younger than one would expect.

Ike was a casualty in all accounts, but you can owe that to the fact that many artists worked in the DLC art. Just as you can get that, you get the boss designs of Ephraim and Katarina.

And in my opinion, the FE:A main artwork was awesome, Nowi notwithstanding.

Btw, Dantis, have you finished the game yet?

I have not. Got relatively far in, and just stopped. Not really sure why. I'll finish it up at some point.

While I love PoR/RD's artwork, Awakening's artwork has really grown on me. There are a couple misses here and there (ugh Nowi), but I do think alot of it is fantastic.

Looks especially good in HQ:
Tiki
Chrom
Lon'qu
Sumia
Chrom vs "Marth"

I feel like Kozaki's strengths are his composition, form and colouring. Seeing his lineart up close is that last shot shows how far off it is from someone like Soejima.

Little bastard could own an entire bank branch with how much we give her.

All that money, and it just renovates the shrine slightly? My ass, she must be a meth addict.

how much is left of the main game? And any events to keep an eye out for?

^Most people here would have told you to skip the first persona and jump right into the second one. Still, enjoy it!

You really are a Soejima fanboy, hahaha. Not that it's a bad thing, mind you.

It looks like he doesn't ink his drawings. It really gives a weird effect if you close up enough. Thankfully, it isn't obvious when not zoomed. Still, I wonder why, since I doubt that it would be very difficult. Then again, I'm not an artist, so I could be wrong

You have a fair bit left. :p

And you'll know what to look out for yourself. Not saying anything cause the rest should be experienced. :)

I'd say you got about 25-30% or so left? Depending on the choices you make coming up and how you've been playing.

I think the only thing I don't like about the FE:A art is just how some faces look in character portraits. Well, some of the armor designs were a little stupid, but it's not like the previous games were making great strides in this respect.

Anyway, PoR and RD were definitely remnants from an earlier era of anime, and awakening just brings the franchise into the realm of modern anime. For what it could have been, in this respect, I'm really really happy with what we got. It's vibrant and oozes style, something the FE series needed at this point. Now they just need to make another game with that level of presentation and make it, you know, not quite as mediocre.

Speaking of art, really, I could just go for a piece of Soejima art for P5. If they didn't want to show off gameplay or anything, I'd be perfectly fine if some art is all they showed. Just show us something already!

You are correct. Looks like he just scans them, and cleans them up in Photoshop.

Really shows how strong his colouring is though. I'd always thought his lineart looked a little rough, but I would have never guessed it was just pencil art until I saw these pictures.

Also, inking pictures is a looooong process. I can't imagine how long Soejima spends on his illustrations, but let's just say that I understand why a lot of his Catherine art used a much more sketchy style.

Urushihara commented how going digital made his later Growlanser works(starting with II?) a lot easier, but hand-drawn always has its appeals for me.

Elminage has a lot of great stuff in that style.
