Anyone watching this? I don't have high hopes, but I'm a sucker for this stuff. Here is the official press release thing - Link

Maybe it'll live up to Sightings quality? :)

Agreed, that show used to be pretty creepy. All I really hope for this little special is that it doesn't go too cheesy. Or completely talk down to the idea.

The History Channel usually runs some good specials on the subject actually. They recently had one where teams of people were staking out and spying on Area 51 over a 24 hour period.

I think I caught a few minutes of that. I kept meaning to go back and watch the full thing.

fuck sightings scared the shit out of me as a kid
but I still watched it.
fucking big eye grey aliens

there was an episode where an abductee mentioned the aliens placed tubing over his genitals which prompted me to ask my babysitter "What are genitals?"

good times.

Been going on for a while in India. Some extremely high-profile sightings and the Indian government wants to reveal everything they know to the public but they are being "pressured" to keep quiet.

I was convinced that everything that happened during the abduction scenes had to be real because the movie was touted as being Based on a True Story. I didn't know any better, and man, that stuff was frightening.

Definetely, it happened to me a few times actually. Creepy as hell when you can actually move again.

Agreed, and I'm glad the show brought it up. I have even heard of some tests that allow scientists to induce sleep paralysis. They tested it on some 'abductees' and they freaked out. Not sure whatever came of that study, I should try and find out more.

sleep paralysis sounds creepy

I've been asleep knowing this I try to wake up but my body can't move... scares the hell out of me than I finally wake up and break free

Also, memories "recovered" through hypnosis are incredibly shoddy and highly receptive to suggestion... and not suprisingly a shitload of alien abductions are "remembered" this way.

Yeah.. overall I was not very impressed with this program. It didn't really try to provide any new information or answer anything. Just seemd like a bunch of conjecture with alot of going back and forth between saying "Well this is what these people say" and then running back to the other side and saying "Now here is what these people say".

Overall it just seemed scared to take a stance on the issue which is dissapointing.

Too bad they didn't discuss any Egyptian/Aztec connections, crazy shit.

If you want that, you'll need to watch the History Channel.

Did you know that the small road that leads up to Machu Picchu in Peru has "Watch for UFOs" road signs all the way up to the summit?

I thought the show was crap. 90% of the "footage" was animation. Most of it was all old news, although I didn't realize how silly Roswell really was. Seem to remember a better feature on the Pheonix lights that showed the footage superimposed over daytime shots, clearly showing the flares disappear behind the mountains not seen in the night footage.

That reminds me of the Art Bell show from 2003 where some guy gave Art what a full disclosure briefing would be like.

I had sleep paralysis when I was young before any talks of aliens on TV. To me they were just monsters with long skinny arms that would open my window and carry me outside. Wife calls me an alien for what ever reason and especialy now since recently she noticed a huge lump on the back of my head. I thought it was normal but apparently no one else we know has that. Whatever, Im not losing sleep over it.

I thought the show was decent. Did a good job on Project Blue Book, Roswell, and the abduction stuff. I don't see how it could take any kind of stance, there's not enough proof on either side. I thought the point was to get the audience thinking and formulating their own stance.

Okay, I don't know about any of you, but I want to know:

A. Who the guy that called Art Bell's show talking about Area 51 is;
B. More detail on what he was talking about;
C. If he was telling the truth or not;
D. If he was, what happened to the poor guy;
E. If he wasn't, how he can live with himself?

If anyone hasn't heard this, let me know.

The fact that Art Bell got kicked off the air and his equipment basically went up in flames is beyond creepy. Of course, he could've just been saying that, it's not like Art Bell's show had cameras rolling; just a radio show with a simple webcam. Easy to fake things.

The only thing I liked about this special was the realistic looking simulations of what the people saw. Otherwise, I already knew everything they said from watching other such shows.

As for sleep paralasis, I've had that at least four times that I can remember during my life. The scariest one had me looking out my bedroom window and seeing a nuclear explosion coming. I regained full consciousness when it hit. All the others were just me realizing I was paralyzed, feeling weird and looking around.

I missed the first 15 minutes of the show so I don't know if I missed the Art Bell part yet or not, but was this one of the guys talking about how he worked side-by-side with Aliens at Groom Lake?

I thought they did a great job with the animations. It's a great visual aid and they did them right along with the descriptions which was really nice. Overall a balanced program, which is nice. I'd prefer it that way instead of one that takes sides since they often seem to go overboard one way or another.

About the Phoenix lights: There are two groups of sightings that aren't related. 90% or more of the time "Phoenix lights" is mentioned, people think of just the one sighting on the one night that is commonly dismissed as flares. Those likely are flares.

However, there was a Phoenix "triangle" that they mentioned that was witnessed by multiple people that was in a different area and different time. There's no way that could have been flares because people saw an actual structure between the lights. Both sightings seem to have merged somehow though and dismissed as flares when one isn't as easily explained.

The creepy thing is that someone came up with the idea that the military may have dropped those flares to draw attention away from the real UFO and generally confuse the issue, which seems to have worked to a degree assuming that's true.

Well, I don't know if it was on the ABC show, but when it comes to aliens this is one of the most interesting things I've heard to date. Puts all of the speculation of other things to shame really. Sorry for throwing you off - instead of making another aliens topic I figured I'd keep it in this thread.

For anyone that still doesn't know about this and is interested:

GE-1 HIT WITH APPARENT E.M.P. DURING "AREA-51" CONFESSION

Art Bell hosts "Coast-to-Coast AM," a nightly talk show from Pahrump,
Nevada, a small town near "Area 51" (an airbase which the U.S. government
officially denies the existence of, despite the massive size of the
complex. UFO's are frequently seen near this site.) Art's radio program
is relayed from the studio in Pahrump to the network headquarters by
satellite GE-1. At about 1AM EST, Friday, September 12, 1997, he
designated one phone line for Area 51 employees to call in and "spill the
beans." Several interesting and convincing callers took the bait. Then
came one bizarre call from an obviously distraught and terrified man who
claimed to be a former Area 51 employee recently discharged for "medical"
reasons. He cited malevolent extraterrestrials at Area 51 and an impending
disaster that the government knew would take out "major population
centers." Midway through this call (according to GE engineers) the
satellite's "Earth sensor lost lock" and the craft rolled into an attitude
where it no longer pointed at the uplinks, causing 50 channels to go
off-air for about 30 minutes.
Shortly after the outage began, the live
internet video feed from Art's studio was lost as well.

Unaware of these events, Bell continued talking to the caller for another
minute during the outage until he heard a scream and the phone went dead.
A reporter from Penthouse visiting the studio to gather information for a
story about the program witnessed the event and furiously took notes.
Minutes later, Bell received a call from his network on a conventional
analog "hotline" saying that he was "off the air."
He checked the uplink
transmitter and saw that it had suffered complete loss of communication
with GE-1. At this point they resumed transmission on a 56k digital phone
line and went back on the air. Then the analog "hotline" to the network
cut out
and Art was unable to speak to network engineers. (!!!)

One of the first callers after the outage was someone who claimed to be
from Area-51 "security." He said that his job was to "close gaps," the
network had been "pulsed" and that we "would not hear from the caller
again."
(An ElectroMagnetic Pulse is a method of overloading electronic
equipment in a target area; EMP generators were funded under the original
SDI research. The phenomenon was discovered by accident during the 1960's
when the phone network in Hawaii was disabled by a nuclear test 800 miles
distant.) Speculation about an EMP continued as this was "verified" by
several callers:

A man from Kingston (also near area 51) said he was on hold waiting to go
on the air, and both his home telephone lines went dead. Another caller,
an RF engineer employed at Hughes AeroSpace in Tucson (and an expert on EMP
shielding), stated that he had suffered "cloud bounce" from the pulse and
his personal computer and digital watch were wiped clean.

A third caller reminded the audience that author Nick Begich stated in his
book "Angels don't Play this HAARP" that a military antenna array in Alaska
has the capability to remove individual satellites from service and
generate such pulses. (Incidentally, the HAARP design bears a great
similarity to the work of Nikola Tesla, who publicly made claims about the
potential of his inventions to generate EMP anywhere on the planet.)
Finally, another caller reminded the audience of an event several months
prior where it was confirmed that a number of employees at the Cheyenne
Mountain nuclear-hardened underground base convinced as many friends and
family as they could to move immediately to a remote location in South
America.
(WTF)

Art closed the show by speculating on whether (in the mind of the
government) the "enemy" of National Security had now become the American
people.

TRANSCRIPT:

The following is a verbatim transcript from last night's Art Bell Show at
approximately 1:45 A.M. Friday Sept. 12, 1997 (2:35:42 RealAudio elapsed
time, http://ww2.audionet.com/artbell/archive.html#sept97):

Art: On my Area 51 line, you're on the air, hello.

Male caller: Hello, Art?

Art: Yes

Caller [sounds frightened]: I don't have a whole lot of time.

Art: Well, look, let's begin by finding out if you're using this line
properly or not.

Caller: OK, in Area 51?

Art: Yes. Are you an employee or are you now?

Caller: I'm a former employee. I, I was let go on a medical
discharge about a week ago and, and... [chokes] I kind of been running
across the country. Damn, I don't know where to start, they're, they're
gonna, they'll triangulate on this position really soon.

Art: So you can't spend a lot of time on the phone, so give us something
quick.

Caller [voice breaking up with apparent suppressed crying]: OK, um, um, OK,
what we're thinking of as aliens, Art, they're extradimensional beings,
that, an earlier precursor of the space program they made contact with.
They are not what they claim to be. They've infiltrated a lot of aspects
of, of, of the military establishment, particularly the Area 51.

The disasters that are coming, they, the military, I'm sorry, the
government knows about them. And there's a lot of safe areas in this world
that they could begin moving the population to now, Art.

Art: So they're not doing, not doing anything.

Caller: They are not. They want those major population centers wiped out so
that the few that are left will be more easily controllable...."

Art [fragment]: ...discharged...

Caller [sobbing, then fragment]: I say we g ....

[Dead air for 25 seconds, followed by theme song and repeat of Mark Fuhrman
interview talking about marijuana busts]

[2:29:43 elapsed time] Art: We are now on a backup system....The entire
transmitting system went down...

Art's radio network engineer later reported that the network's
communication satellite lost 50 channels (including Art's feed) at that
moment, possibly due to a "lost earth sensor" (so it no longer pointed to
the earth station).

Art reported that the telephone conversation continued off the air for
about a minute, when the caller "screamed" and "screeched" and the
telephone connection went dead. Art also reported that his Web site
registered 5 million hits just after the outage.

Later, a Tucson caller who he said worked for Hughes (which Art said
supplies microwave systems to Area 51) reported that his computer memory
and electronic watch were zapped at the same time that the broadcast went
dead, and suggested both events may have been caused by a cloud-reflected
EMP (electromagnetic pulse, which are created by nuclear explosions or by
special EMP generator).

A caller claiming he was with Area 51 security said: "[We're] Professional
cleaners, you know they dig a lot of holes in the desert...I use a lot of
acid....We worked with satellite operations in the Gulf War when we cut
down certain transmissions...." He predicted the caller would not be
calling in again.

Speculations:

1. Test of radio network and public response to an EMP pulse disabling the
late-night national radio talk show that people are most likely to listen
to in event of a disaster.

2. Psyop media manipulation to achieve a specific public effect, perhaps
related to a planned bioterrorist or other attack (or simulated attack) in
certain cities. Caller sounded convincing but may have, of course, been
subjected to electrical shock or other duress in a controlled environment
during the call.

Questions:

1. Did anyone else note an EMP-like effect (malfunctions or damage to
computers, calculators, watches, VCRs, modems, and other electronic
devices) at approximately 1:45 A.M. Friday morning? If so, what was the
damage and what is your location?

2. How unusual is this type of communications satellite outage?

I have an mp3 of the phone call.

Yeah, they shut up Area 51 employees pretty well. On the History Channel special they followed one employee from the private airstrip in Vegas that they use to get to the base every day and he slammed his door in their face before they could finish saying "Area".

I think it's pretty common knowledge that people work side-by-side with aliens there, but some of the more sensitive things have been moved to other places. The massive base in Dulce New Mexico for example.

While we're on the subject of past Art Bell shows, here's the disclosure briefing from the 11/2/03 show:

"They whisk you to Washington, DC, you get limo-ed to this building, beautiful building, you go up into this room. They say, 'Art, you're the guy and if you give us the go ahead, we are gonna release everything we know to the public. If you decide to go ahead, all major networks will be provided with information on all aspects of the cover up and no type of information will be withheld. Because of the deal for immunity for all participants of the cover up provides that nothing, no artifacts, no piece of information be withheld.'

So here's what happened, Art. We'll use some videos and stills. Our first UFO recoveries were in the late '30s. We made a couple in the beginning of the '40s and then came Roswell, which the public found out about. We got 2 live aliens from Roswell. One died shortly there after and one lived till 1956. And we found out so far there are 18 different alien species that we know about monitoring Earth. Some are good and some are hostile, most are indifferent. We found out that we are the experimental product, if you will, of an alien race who we never met and we don't know who they are. All we know is that the Greys are cybernetic organisms, glorified robots if you will, who work here at the behest of their employers monitoring us through abductions. We were never able to find out what the experiment is all about except that we have been externally corrected about 65 times. And they, the aliens, refer to us as "Containers." There's been speculation that the souls our bodies contain is the reason for the experiments. But nothing's been proven or determined.

Since 1938 we've lost over 200 aircraft due to UFO hostilities and thousands of soldiers in all kinds of different actions with aliens. Since that time several hundred thousand civilians have disappeared with no trace. Several thousand of those were eliminated by us because of their chance encounters with the aliens which we could ill afford to have publicized.

A slightly more frightening phenomena known as "human mutilations" have occurred on a regular basis and are similar to "cattle mutilations". In that the human or humans are taken from the street, so to speak, and returned to the same area about 45 minutes to an hour later with their rectums cored out, their genitals removed, eyes removed from their sockets, and completely drained of blood. In all cases it appeared that the mutilation procedures occurred while the persons were still alive and conscious. One of our scientists speculates that apparently the human specimens had to be alive for the samples to be worth anything. Abductions occur on a daily basis throughout the United States to at least 10% of the population.

When we were first made aware this we protested to the little grey being we had held in captivity at the YY-2 facility in Los Alamos, but a deal was struck that in exchange for advanced technology from the aliens we would allow them to abduct a very small number of persons and we would periodically be given a list of those persons abducted. We got something less than the technology we bargained for and found the abductions exceeded by a million fold than what we had naively agreed to.

In 1954, President Eisenhower met with a representative of another alien species at Muroc Test Center, which is now called Edwards Airforce Base. This alien suggested that they could help us get rid of the Greys but Eisenhower turned down their offer because they offered no technology.

At this point it became apparent to all involved that there was no such thing as a God, at least how the public perceives God. Certainly some form of computer recorder stores information and an occasional miracle is displayed by the aliens to influence a religious event. This so unnerved Eisenhower that he had "In God We Trust" put on paper money and coins and put in the Pledge of Allegiance to reaffirm the public belief in God. Shortly after this it was determined in meetings between the US and the Russians that the situation was serious enough that a cold war should be manufactured as a ruse to divert attention of the public away from UFOs towards some other scary threat like the H-bomb. It was also decided to keep the ruse secret from any elected or appointed officials within both the US and Russian governments as it took so long to vet these officials and the ruse was easier to manage if the top people didn't know about it.

In the late 1950's NASA was formed to compartmentalize, containerize, and sanitize information from all space platforms and vehicles. We sold NASA to the public claiming that all information would belong to them but they got very little and even that was highly sanitized.

Our first efforts were to keep the public from learning about Venus. A very similar planet to Earth and it's population is very similar to us just technologically advanced. We have learned a lot from them starting with the Russian Venera 1 and US Mariner 2, we made Venus look like a lead melting, volcanic surface, spewing sulfuric acid into a pressurized atmosphere 90 times that of Earth. And as often the case we over did it and we wondered why nobody asked how a parachute survived a descent into 800-degree air. We set up operations in Pine Gap, Australia to preclude any prying eyes figuring out what we were up to. We regularly eliminated through extreme prejudice anybody who was part of the operation and made the least little tiny threat about disclosure or dissatisfaction with the operation. Any space mission that included Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Mariner, Voyager, Clementine, and all the rest. All data initially came transmitted to Pine Gap then it was relayed to JPL or wherever after sanitizing. We had a little trouble with amateur radio operators but we figured out how they could intercept these signals but we managed to deal with that.

When the Russian threat began to fade we introduced Vietnam which kept the public occupied for over ten years. The cover up and personnel to run the operation began to get bigger and bigger and required more and more money. We were forced to inflate the defense budget, which soon not enough. Then we got into the drug business which was still not enough. We were the ones that looted the savings and loan industry and Wall Street to boot. It is so out of control now most people want immunity and want out. But there is so much secrecy and so many double and triple blinds in place that it's unlikely that this thing can ever be dismantled. And even if you give us the go ahead to spill the beans to the public it's unlikely they will get anything more than "yes, we recovered a flying saucer and yes, there was an occupant" but that's all we're gonna tell ya.

So go ahead and roll the tape for Mr. Bell. What you see here are what human mutilations look like. That one was a male about 27 years old. That one is film of dead aliens being pulled from the wreckage of a craft that crashed in Olancha, California in the '50s. That craft you see over there was over 250ft. in diameter and had to be buried on the spot. That site is in Utah near Dugway Proving Grounds. The object you're looking at now is the as the Kecksburg Acorn which was brought to Wright Patterson in the middle '60s. There's Frank Drake trying to force information out of a being tied down to a stretcher. He was supposedly from Tao Ceti.

These pictures you're looking at now are structures on the Moon. That's the tower in Sinus Medii and it's over seven miles tall. And that thing over there is what we call the Colossus of Oguram(sp) in Mare Crisium. We don't know what it does but the machine itself is bigger than Brooklyn, New York. Now those are videos of the domes covering the craters. As you can see, some are in a very advanced state of decay.

These are 5 second slides of the 18 different alien species we are looking at. That one there is the most gruesome looking. The guards at one facility are carefully indoctrinated over several months being shown pictures similar to but not exactly like the alien. Only when he'd been acclimatized, so to speak, of the horrible looking beings are they allowed to stand in security positions. Before these acclimatizations were done, we had two guards die of a heart attack as the aliens came down the hallway unexpectedly.

And this last clip is of the Kennedy assassination. You've heard of the second gunman theory? Well, this is the second camera that recorded exactly what happened and we had 4 gunmen. And the bottom line was that Kennedy had to go. He insisted on releasing what little alien information we had told him about and he was trying to withdraw troops from Vietnam which we were using as a diversion for the public. After Kennedy we never told any President anything. Nixon knew because he was briefed as VP in 1952. That's how we knew where to take Jackie Gleason to Homestead Air Force Base to see the alien bodies we had in storage there.

And that's about it. What say you Art Bell? Do we brief the public? Yay or nay?"

That seems a little far fetched. The whole conspiracy theory of aliens infiltrating the military and government and then instigating some kind of disaster to thin and control the population isn't a new one. Moreover, if someone wanted to keep it low key, why would they call after the outage and basically legitimize the claim by taking credit for killing the message and the messenger (figuratively or literally, whatever)?

Heh, I have an mp3 of that phone call as well. Well, I have the Tool song "Faaip De Oaid" and as a little bonus thing at the end they have that little coversation. They cut out Art Bell, so it is just the caller talking while there is this cacophony of drums in the background. Really effective at setting the mood.

Suprised we didn't hear more about that whole thing though as it seems so over the top that it would have gotten more media attention. Granted I've never followed this whole scene closely, seems there is a huge ratio of nut jobs to real people. The real people are hugely interesting, but the nut jobs just make me cringe.

There was a GREAT Art Bell show last year where he was just doing open lines because he had some phone problems with his scheduled guest. So he opened his lines and this Satan worshipper called and told Art he was studying to become a Catholic Priest to bring Satan into the church. Art was like "Stay on the line! You just gave me my show for the night!" :lol

Hah, no kidding. I don't know about you, but all of this scares the shit out of me. If they are working with aliens, what are they doing? I always figured something was up... but the idea that we work with aliens, here, is insane. I don't believe in John Titor, and quite honestly none of the "Sightings" shows (and various clones) I watched throughout the 90's phased me. I still think they're BS. But I do believe in the possibility that there's other life out there, and this Art Bell call seems to real too be a hoax. That being said, some kids in the desert with some radio descrambling devices could've been having some fun; but on the other hand, it also knocked 49 other stations off the air. Of course, it's funny that no one from those 49 other stations has come forward since then. Either the government shut them up or this is some hoax.

why would they call after the outage and basically legitimize the claim by taking credit for killing the message and the messenger (figuratively or literally, whatever)?
Because he was a rare case? He managed to get on the air and talk for that long. Who/whatever cut him off figured enough people believed him and thus he had to be shut up.

Of course he was so paranoid that if they let him go, people could've more easily written him off as just another random nutcase.

I think within 10 years, NASA will announce that either there is life on Mars or there was life on Mars at some point. They're laying the groundwork for such an announcement already.

And thus, that'll be the real beginning of the 21st century.

I hosted the Art Bell call for GAF a long time ago. I wonder what I did with it. Certainly much better to listen to than Tool's hacked up version.

I didn't realize that the call was hacked up. If someone wouldn't mind pointing me to a link I would be most appreciative as the version on Lateralus was pretty effective, so I can only imagine what the real recording sounds like.

Actually there are conspiracy theories that they have been trying to lay the groundwork for a long time. Some of these conspiracy theories say that they tried to use Hollywood to lessen the blow for people. Specifically they approached Spielberg. Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. were two of the movies they hoped to use. The conspiracy theories say that the design of E.T. was influenced because the look of the aliens in Close Encounters were "too close" to the real thing.

Slightly related, there's a somewhat famous story about when they showed E.T. at the White House. During the movie, Reagan leaned over to Spielberg and said "You know, there aren't six people in this room who know how true this really is."
