Good to know, thanks. I'd like to get $300 if I can, just stinks that I had to basically rent a phone for a month. At least if I knew why my launch 6+ stopped working it would've been easier to take. Went to bed, it was fully charged and fine. Woke up, wouldn't turn on. I'd been planning to go iPhone Upgrade Program with the 7 so I would've had Apple Care... if I only made it that final month.

I'm somewhat excited for the 7, if only for the rumored increases in capacity, RAM, processor, and camera. Headphone jack is annoying but isn't a deal-breaker for me. Team Dongle.

I think, if nothing else, it's clear that we only know a fraction of the picture with regard to the headphones issue. Apple may make decisions people can legitimately disagree with, but they're not so stupid as to sabotage the value proposition/user experience of their most profitable and successful product ever in order to pump up their vastly smaller and vastly less profitable accessory sales.

I think that the totally different-from-the-norm pairing experiences for the Apple Watch and the Apple Pencil show that Apple is extremely aware of Bluetooth's UX shortcomings. I wouldn't be super surprised to see any wireless headphone solution make heavy and clever use of Bonjour/AirPlay rather than standard Bluetooth audio protocols.

I'm inclined to agree with you, but I think their margins on their accessories are quite high so I'm not sure if Apple sees it that way. They have a special gumption when it comes to forcing change on their users as we've seen in the past.

I've also read the rumblings that they'd go with another protocol for the audio rather than BT, but wouldn't that conflict with the wireless headphones people already have? Seems even more consumer-unfriendly if so. Although I suppose they could make it work both ways.

Antenna lines looked better as a feature rather than something awkwardly hidden... Lens bump in the corner means the phone rocks on a flat surface. Imagine the extra millimetre or two added to the depth used to make that flush used for extra battery capacity... Would love an iPhone with proper battery life (that isn't the size of a pet gravestone>.

Yeah, I don't think they'd break compatibility with existing Bluetooth headphones, but they'd be happy to say "or here's our superior proprietary protocol that gets a bunch of exclusive new perks within the OS."
 
Extremely disappointing. Sacrificing the 3.5mm jack in favor of another speaker is utterly daft, the size seems similar to the 6 and the antenna lines are ugly as sin.

Apple, what the fuck.

I'll hang on to my iPhone 6 until the 2017 anniversary iPhone. It feels like Apple is taking a gamble and trying to set a precedent hoping the rest of the industry will follow (removing the headphone jack), and it's going to bite them in the ass.

I can't wait to hear their spin and I hope they receive enough backlash (rightfully so) that they put the headphone jack back in for the anniversary phone.
 
Looks horrible compared to iPhone 5 / SE design. The new antennae lines look like a cheap Chinese knock off. Also, isn't it time to shrink the bezels? I hope this is the least successful iPhone of the modern era due to prematurely removing the headphone jack without replacing it with superior tech.
 
Yeah, this is going to be the first generation I skip, I'll stick to my iPhone SE, haven't regretted once downgrading from 6S Plus

I mean how do you "ease" someone into it though? Either the phone has it or it doesn't. If they did this on like the iPhone 6, we'd be be saying the same thing we are now.

I'm just not buying the phone. I'll stick with my 6S until it dies a horrible death and go Android maybe.

That's the iPhone 7. Its lack of a headphone jack doesn't negate its existence in all other iPhone models. That this year's model is unchanged in appearance is where they are easing into the idea.
 
Thinking of getting this, but I love material UI and the animations are much more fluid on my Nexus 6p compared to a 6s plus. Is it because ios animations are lower fps or something? Other aspects of ios are faster, like apps, probably because all apps are made on iOS first and optimized for it or something.

Do iPhones ever heat up though? My Nexus 5 and 6p both get warm to touch just browsing and worse playing games. I've heard iPhones stay relatively cool even during games.

My Nexus 6p with the shit snapdragon 810 doesn't overheat though, even when it's 45c outside (dubai). It just gets warm to touch which a case negates completely.

I'd still like a cooler running phone.

phones on sd820 run pretty cooly for the most part. I've had more heat issues on ios than 2016 android at the very least.

Okay, but this doesn't negate the fact that you won't be able to listen to music and charge your phone at the same time. So the countless number of people who don't have bluetooth in their cars and still use an AUX cord are SOL and just have to deal with having their battery drained during commutes?

My bluetooth headphones are shite compared to my wired Sennheiser headphones. When my phone is about to die, I plug it in to charge and simultaneously listen to music, especially before bed. That's not something I should have to give up because Apple wants to sell their garbage Beats by Dre headphones.

It's gonna be a promotional video explaining why using ear buds with a new higher fidelity proprietary wireless protocol or Bluetooth is all you need.

The adaptor will be sold separately.

If you want super high quality then use lightening hd audio. Highest quality ever.

I would be willing to bet, assuming this actually doesn't come with a 3.5mm jack, that Apple includes an adapter with the 7.

When I use it as a gps on motorbike under a sunny and hot weather I often have "iPhone s too hot " message
 
Any leaks about the camera on both normal and plus model? I know the normal model will have a bigger sensor but is it still 12MP? It should at least offer much better IQ thanks to the bigger sensor right? Also will the dual camera (if plus ever gets it) also have the same size of sensor or will it be just 2 regular iPhone 6S plus sensors packed together?
 
I don't get why they're putting stereo speakers on the one end. There should be one at each end. What they should do is what my friends Android phone does where the speakers are on the top and bottom front facing. But of course it would require Apple change everything unique about the iPhones recognizability by removing the Home button and moving the FaceTime camera to the left side to make room. Plus having to use metal for the edges of the front. So they won't do it. Still it makes no sense to put the stereo speakers on the one end.
 
I hope lack of HJ means some form of waterproofing. I use wireless headphones for my workouts and such anyways, so I don't use the HJ for anything in particular.

Motorola already has one out and other chinese androids are already out without a jack.

The real world is different than the one you think you live in.

I use the headphone jack in my car. I use the headphone jack on my headphones. I use the headphone jack to play music through my guitar amp.
 
I hope the backlash on this same design plus taking away the headphone jack is so big that they put it into the next phone.

A man can dream...
