You can't have thin and be able to rock 126/128 FALD zones at the same time. I, for one, have never understood the push for thinness. When I'm watching TV I never, not once, have thought "boy this picture would sure look better if the TV were thinner," let alone even think about the width.

If you want one of the new LGs the B/C should be getting released here very shortly and should be cheaper than the P/G.

That's list price, right? Why would anyone buy the B if the E can be had for $6K at Amazon?

And it's not just about thickness (though I did, admittedly, call that out) but it's the thickness AND the metal bezel that just makes it look gaudy or something. I get it's subjective and all, but I wish they had just gone all black.

edit: Can the E6 soundbar be removed? I don't want that thing since I'll install surround in my new home anyway.

Guess what? The prices will drop when they are available to order. Just like the E magically dropped $1000 when it became available. They aren't going to keep the B/C models the same price as the E, you can bet on it.

That makes me think the 65" 2015 model might be the way to go for me for $4500. I know it might not be as good as the 2016 models, but it still looks really good.

I like the silver bezel a lot personally. Much nicer IMO than the standard black plastic-like bezels

How does 1080p content look on that screen? Do you play games? Do resolutions between 1080p and 4k scale well?

1080p looks great after some initial calibration. I don't use the 4k/60hz port on the tv as I have nothing that will really drive it at this time. I use HDMI port 1/30hz but yes I do game and set my calibration up more for watching movies. If I feel like gaming I turn on the gaming setting for lag reduction which takes most of the processing for movies etc out of the picture and it's fantastic for me.

But strangely enough doing a color reset really made things look great , even better than using all the white balance settings shown at the beginning of the article.

It has an input lag of 36ms at 1080p. Which is pretty good for an UHD TV.

I don't know how it goes for all TV, but my "old" Philips model has lower input lag when feeding it a 4K image versus a 1080p image. I assume that the upscaling process slows that TV down. However I can't say that the same goes for the LG OLED screens. I don't have the things needed to test that at the moment.

I have a question regarding UHD upscaling in gaming mode.

So I've been eying the Samsung JU6850 model for quite a while now(unfortunately thats only the german model name, I don't know what the model is called in the US, if available at all.)

The reason why I'm interested is because it has HDR while costing well below 1000€. According to Samsungs own PQI its in line with the usual 1500€ models while costing way less. The next significant jump in picture quality would be the Quantum Dots models for 2500€+

Now I've read quite a bit about it and I have heard some conflicting things regarding input lag and UHD upscaling. My primary use will be gaming, so input lag is important to me.
One reviewer on amazon said that the input lag is pretty significant with all the post processing in effect, thats fixed in the gaming mode, but the upscaling in gaming mode creats heavy artifacts and the picture quality suffers a great deal.

My question now: Is this something I will have to deal with or are there models that either have low input lag with proper upscaling enabled, or still provide a good image in gaming mode.

I can't recommend the JU7100 enough. It doesn't support HDR or Quantum Dots, but it has one of the lowest 4K latencies (26ms) and offers what is perhaps the best picture for an LCD. It scales everything perfectly with even SD content looking as intended. Perfect display for gaming.

Rumor is an HDR box in July. It's not gonna be 4k just hdr supposedly.

I've heard so much bs from Comcast about all of this though I'll believe it when I see it. Plus I imagine Comcast charging out the ass to get the better box.

Plus beyond that specific Sony model there are a ton of HDR models from Sony, Samsung, LG ect... from last year on sale if you wanted to go that route.

Apparently some outlets have had trouble measuring the input lag, FlatPanelsHD said

We know that others have had issues with input lag on XD93, even failed to measure it with a meter, but our Leo Bodnar gave us no trouble. We measured a decent 36 ms input lag in the game mode, which means that XD93 is a good choice for game console use. In the Cinema Pro profile input lag rose to 65 ms that is somewhat too high for a great game console experience.

I'm looking at the X93D or X94D for my future TV when the prices come down. I would love an OLED, but don't like LG. If Vizio was available in my country I'd definitely check them out though, they sound like great value.

I read one of the more recent reivew, X930D input lag is 36ms, not the best but definitely not bad. Lots of reviewers were having trouble taking proper measurement earlier. On top of that, Sony has also released multiple FW update since launch. I am interested in buying the set as well.
