This isn't even it's final form. More pictures later. And in the second pic that's a Panasonic 65VT10 which is still kicking ass..[/QUOTE]
How is Impulse mode on the set? Does it make the LCD dimmer than the plasma with it on?
For those of you that are in the market for 55"+ gaming HDTVs, please wait till tomorrow morning. Putting out another update on www.displaylag.com.
It's basically a poor man's w900a. That is to say, if you don't mind a slight drop in overall image quality, it is a fabulous gaming TV. If it's in your budget, I'd say it is a no-brainer.What do you guys think about the 47 inch Sony W802A?
Or I guess I could ask GAF, anybody own a VT60 and tried it with and without the Game Mode?
Oh gosh, do we think the S60 will get back in stock at Amazon?
If I missed the boat there, I'm going to be incredibly upset.![]()
The S60's input lag is like 30ms. I doubt it would be noticeable. And IR is no big deal. I've gamed for hours on my S60 since I got it, no pixel orbiter, and no lasting IR. Only bout of IR I had was the Super Stardust logo on my PS3 for having it up a bit too long. Shortly after, I booted up Killzone 2 and couldn't see the IR during gameplay, only played it for 2-3 minutes and the IR was gone when I was done, so yeah. Played hours and hours of Arkham Origins and nothing retained. It's a non-factor imo.
Huh, thought that'd fare better. Ah well, guess it's the 47/55 inch units that are best.Input lag database has been updated with a small, but good update. The following Sony screens were tested for input lag:

need more 60-65" Panny Plasmas please.
I can feel the input lag difference between my UT50 and W900a very easily when I game with a mouse or anything thats direct input. I probably would have a much harder time with a controller.
I've had a issues with IR on the UT50 with the bottom left icon in Mark of the Ninja. It's been there for a few weeks now. it's mostly faded away, but not entirely. IR is a real thing.
My W900A is ready to pick up from the store. Can anyone who owns one tell what are the dimensions of the box it comes in? I need to be sure that it'll fit into the back of a 2006 Ford Focus.
Cheers.
I do

Do not play without game mode, easily goes up to 85ms.
42ms in game mode, both tested with Leo Bodnar on my own TV.
I'm going to be watching a 65" TV from 5 feet away and loving it.
Correction: I measured the distance and I am sitting about 8.5-9 feet away from the TV. Apparently this is adequate for a 65" TV?
In my experience, 42ms would be noticeable in most games if you are looking for it. I believe it is three frames of lag.Thanks. I'm not familiar with the Leo Bodnar tester though I see numbers quoted from it all the time. Is 42ms good tested by this device?

HDTV test also measured the 32 inch to be slower. Must have a slower processor.I'm surprised that the W650A measured 30ms?
HDTVTest says the KDL-42W653A is only 14ms (Leo Bodnar), I thought the W6 models were all comparable.
My KDL-50W656A is definitely way below 30ms, too.

A plasmas subframe, while not bright enough to trigger the photosensor, can readily be perceived by us in the sensorial feedback loop, thus accounting for the discrepancy between the displayed input lag figure and the actual responsiveness of a PDP. Ironically, the older stopwatch/camera method though inconsistent is capable of capturing subframes before theyre fully drawn (since its not limited by any luminance threshold, and the shutter speed is much higher than the panel refresh rate), and so more accurately reflects how responsive a PDP is. This is the reason why we continue to run both tests on most HDTVs we review despite the photo method being such a labour-intensive process.

I really don't understand how one person can say image retention is no longer a problem, while another says he got it just from the built-in menu.
HDTVtest.co.uk, who was part of the group of reviewers along with FourWude from Displaylag.com that decided on the standard they are using to test input lag, states that in the case of Plasma TV's that the old school camera test method is actually a better method than sugin the Leo Bodnar tester, and gives the more accurate display lag reading:

The link goes into far more detail, and the conversation is carried over into the comments as well. Maybe FourWude could chime in.
So if this correct, in game mode the VT60 is actually only at 23ms. I have a ZT60 (also 23ms), and have had it calibrated as well, but I'm am very nervous to game on it as even with over 500 hours on it, it is very prone to image retention and I actually have the Viera menu possibly burned in to the top left of the screen after leaving it up for no more than 15 minutes while calibrating my 3D settings. It's been there for 2 months now, and while faded, has not disappeared completely.
If anyone has a VT or ZT and could let me know if their experiences with long term image retention issues from gaming, especially HUDs, I'd appreciate it.
If you've got a Wii U, the best test would be to put up the HTML timer in the browser and take a picture or high speed recording of the 2 screens. Mario jumping in NSMBU would also be a good comparator. Don't the iPhone 5 and 5S have a 60fps and 120fps recording mode? Any display that can match the U pad is good enough in my book.

Are you going to test any 2013 Panasonic plasmas outside of the notorious ST60?
Or I guess I could ask GAF, anybody own a VT60 and tried it with and without the Game Mode?
Sure, but burn-in, or predisposition to it, is a defect.(...) some plasmas never have an issues no matter what you do to them, others do, no matter how much you baby them. To anyone who says IR or burn-in is no longer an issue, I'd say things have improved, but in no way are all plasmas free of risk.
I don't know how it behaves out of the box, but it's pretty much a non-factor even in the entry point X60 series.I have a ZT and haven't had any issues with long term IR, nor really IR in general.

I happens on a select few, but if it does, complain for all it's worth. Shame the Plasmas re getting discontinued though, as that is narrowing down the timeframe to bitch and get another one free of charge.I don't know how it behaves out of the box, but it's pretty much a non-factor even in the entry point X60 series.
But there's a clear difference between the first 200 hours of normal use (sans-break-in) versus the rest. ZT's might have a factory break-in, being so expensive and practically build to order.
Also, I'm mad jealous of you because I can't afford one.(congrats for the TV set, please cherish it)
