PlayStation 4 lifetime sales pass 22.3m worldwide

I can't even begin to fathom how someone could feel that way

I struggle to play all my games on the console. Between retail, digital and plus games it's actually more than I could wish to play, really. If anything I've been neglecting my PC and GC recently.

It is 22.3m units shipped to retail as of March 31, 2015... not sold thought.

Sony last sold thought numbers is 20.2m as of March 1, 2015.

I think The Order is shit, but calling the people who enjoyed the game "deviants" is rather childish and stupid.
It was a joke. Can't really feel sorry for that.

Staying away from sales-age / system wars threads for years has made me lost sight of the 'etiquette' of these discussions. For example had no idea that 'no games' was a thing for PS4 too.

This wasn't a right thread to express my dissatisfaction and I realize the mistake has already been made. That said, all opinions expressed are my honest feelings and I stand behind them. Actually the subject (long term future of the PS4) was heavily on my mind today playing my system and it just blurbed out here.

So yeah that's it.

I own one and still feel underwhelmed by the library at this point.

Compared to...

The 3DS library?
The PS Vita library?
The Wii U library?
The PC library?
The Xbox One library?
The Xbox 360 library?
The PS3 library?

IMO, PS4 is selling because it's the place where most of the anticipated games that are coming out right now are. If the games really aren't that great, that's a reflection on the industry's ability to deliver great games, not a reflection on the PS4.

Congrats Sony.

It was not toward ps4 but the generation overall.
PS4 is first and xone second / generations...
Can you see the picture here ?
But i can understand you are more happy with raw number being mercifull toward sony hard work (you really bring this as an argument ?) claiming false information (no mid tier game ? highly hyperbolized and forgetting also there is a japan for ps4 outside your country and thoses games are counted)

Hahah you know what? You're right. ;)

Good job on Sony for turning their finances around. From a gamers point of view - they deserve it. PS4 is a fantastic system and has a great library of diverse games and they've worked so hard to make that happen, fair pricing, working with developers, frequent updates to the OS.

I can see them breaking 30+ mil by the years end, with a price cut they could even be at 35+ mil by this time next year.

Super Mario 3D World is the most critically acclaimed exclusive of next gen (92.56% gameranking), followed by SSB Wii U (92.31%). Bloodorne is at 91.25%, which is 4th highest (behind Bayonetta 2)

Also, I don't believe that Bloodborne by itself is good enough to make the fact that "PS4 is great" the only valid opinion, like you claim. That's like saying that, because the PS3 has Dark Souls, it is inarguably a great console, and everyone who disagrees is ignorant. For many who don't like games like Bloodborne, and are not satisfied by the yearly instalments of COD/FIFA/AC/2K, there is still very little that the PS4 has to offer.

Selective use of a site that sides with your reasoning. Metacritic had both bloodborne and 3d world at 93 with more critic reviews for each game.

I know a good amount of people don't think it's gonna happen, but...

If the PS4 doesn't get a $100 price drop this year, I'd be surprised. Probably won't happen soon, but it'll be a massive injection for their holiday lineup.

I agree and said this in the other thread, I think a $50 price drop doesn't do much, Microsoft will just match and everything will be the same except Microsoft is now in the $299 sweet spot where people no longer perceive dropping $300 even though it's a penny under it puts it into the $200 bracket.

Now if Sony drops to $299 Microsoft likely can't match that drop and go to $250 as that would probably be too much loss so they will have to match and also be $299. Well Microsoft has painted themselves in the corner as being cheaper and perceived as the lesser console, now they are sitting at the same price the PS4 now appears to be the better value. Seems like the smart move to me assuming the console BOM has dropped to around that price.

Plus Sony has always dropped $100 off on their first cut so there's that.

For me, as I play on PC primarily, PS4 still has not got any exclusive to make it worth for buying, but I've already bought it)

Bloodborne was pretty good, though.

Good thing folks will be able to play The Witcher 3, Batman AK, Rime, Tomorrow Children and Battlefront soon for example which all are not yearly releases, in addition to Bloodborne.

Don't you think that is diverse enough?

Edit: I realise my post is list-warish damn. I'll stick to sales talk.

lol.. so the PS4 doesn't have any exclusives to make you buy one, however you bought one, and oh yeah Bloodborne is a good exclusive?

He's saying that hindsight is 20/20.

I disagree with him, though--thinking something is worth buying only matters until you buy it. The real trick is to be more discerning before you buy.

Next I'm going to read that the PS4 is selling on hype.

Everything sells based on hype. If you aren't pumped up enough about a product to drop $$$ on it, why would you buy it?

The marketing and word-of-mouth for the PS4 is amazing. It really is the console to buy in the eyes of the consumer, whether it has the games or not. It's simply the hyped console of the generation, like Wii was last generation.

I think this is the failings of every buyer towards their fellow men that they do not step in when they see a PS4 at a register and interfere.

that's a stretch if you're comparing it to the Wii frenzy. If you're just saying it's the most popular console right now though then duh.

I play mainly pc but there is enough console / ps4 exclusive to make it worth buying if you're open to all genre.

that's a stretch

Messiah gets it. PS4 has simply outcompeted Xbox this generation, and the more rapid front-end sales cycle has extended to consoles and not just hyped games.

PS4 isn't a gateway console for new gamers like Wii was at all.

In that case Wii U is the only console with anything to offer, and look how it's doing.

Not the feeling i get in my country.
No general media speak about it like the wii.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing what Sony has achieved with these impressive numbers, fair play to them on that....just that they didn't exactly had to really "fight" for that position, end of the day it was between them and Microsoft..that's it....other's have fallen away...just a shame the hardware scene isn't more competitive now then it was in 95/96...

I think in terms of people saying PS4 has 'no games' it's a matter of perspective.

For me the PS4 is literally the only gaming device in my home and since picking it up launch day I've played 35 different games on my account. This is primarily made up of multi platform titles with a handful of exclusives and few indie games that were free on PS-Plus.

I'll say this - i'm not a hardcore gamer but i'm definitely not a casual either, I imagine there's a lot of people like me out there that are more than happy with the amount of content available right now on the system.

However if you're a PC gamer with a high end machine then obviously 99% of third party titles are superior there and so strictly going by exclusives the PS4 suddenly looks far less desirable. I think if I were into PC gaming i'd probably hold off on any console until the end of the generation when it could be picked up cheap with a big catalogue of exclusives.

But for people who are one console only there is undeniably a massive amount of gaming goodness out there right now on PS4.

I admit it's not a valid barometer but I do think exclusives matter.

What I meant by the ball comment is that it really is Sony's job to give us reasons to continue being excited over their system. Just because of couple of deviants being able to enjoy The Order doesn't mean that the state of big budget exclusives is completely subjective.

Even if I had put prettier dressing on that comment it wouldn't have gone over well in a thread where people are celebrating over system sales so it is my L to bear.
this is getting better and better

Sold in, not sold through. Laggards from last gen are still upgrading, but the console doesn't really have anything big until Uncharted next year. Quite possibly a YoY drop?
I think Call of Duty and Star Wars Battlefront will be the best selling games this year in $60 buy-in space.
