SERIOUSLY!!!! But watch some dopes in this thread blame Sony and say they are just being a greedy corporation. As if a 20-30% tariff increase wouldn't change the cost of an imported product.
When prices across the board are increasing for absolutely everything, it's going to happen.
PS/Xbox are building in the same factories, sourcing from the same component manufacturers, and using the same international grid of shipping and retail outlets...it's going to happen. Blue box or green box, it's not a matter of corporate greed it's a matter of larger economic conditioning.
Only economically clueless sheep will repeat, "Greedy corporations".
PS6 will make PS3 look like the hottest console launch of all time.
??? They didnt raise price of PS5 Pro in Europe... but finally America gets almost same prices as we doTotally expected. It was only a matter of time after they raised the price in Europe a few months ago.
I wouldn't wait too long if I were you...Jury still out on the Switch 2. I might get one of those. maybe, perhaps.
They increased prices in Europe before not because of tarrifs. Consoles get cheaper to produce with time, even with everything getting more expensive it's still 5 years old technology. Greed aspect is still there.
"Everyone is raising prices so why we don't do that?"
Probably because of their recently released record profits.Component prices have also been going up lately. Everyone knows TSMC is charging more to fab chips nowadays. And then on top of that it's Tariffs. Why keep pushing this "greedy" lie?
Wheres the thread? The damage control was off the charts.O predicted price increase for Pro few months ago

Depends what it is. Since even before covid, I find some things didnt change prices one bit. A lot of fruits/vegetables, chicken, pork and bread seems to be the same here (Canada). Heck, even gas prices have come down lately. When prices across the board are increasing for absolutely everything, it's going to happen.

The Phil Spencer Effect strikes again
This is what I tell my American coleagues when they imply that I make about as much as they do, my $ are worthless.LOL. The day before it happens.
The CDN price of PS5 Pro is already $960. So with the price hike, it'll break $1,000 CDN. Probably be $1,050. Add tax and you're at about $1,200 CDN!
Of course, I'm not arguing at all against tariffs being the main reason. But those profit margins will be eaten into due to an unnecessary cost being placed onto them due to tariffs. Chinese tariffs going from 8% to 30% matter. Why should Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo eat that extra cost that's placed on them for no reason at all?
Or companies can eat the increase by benefitting from better yields and lower costs as tech matures. To the shock of no one. It was bound to happen due to the tariffs.
No fucking thank you. How's that waiting for GTA6 going for you Pro hold outs lol
True but...The Pro was already more expensive in Europe than the US at launch. MSRP is €799, US was $699.
Now is the time for tact and nuanceA few of you have been waiting for this day. No need to celebrate the increased cost in gaming. It is hitting everyone and it is only going to keep going up up up…

In order to expand market share and reap the rewards on the long tail with all the PSN purchases? Why should Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo eat that extra cost that's placed on them for no reason at all?
That's not in the interest of shareholders. So that won't happen.Or companies can eat the increase by benefitting from better yields and lower costs as tech matures.

The majority of voters apparently. Checks out.Who didn't see this coming? You'd have to be one of the poorly educated to not have expected this.
Nintendo probably already make plenty of profit on those US and EU Switch 2. This is super old 8nm tech we are talking about with the cheapest LCD ever. Just look at the price of Switch 2 in Japan.Reminder - if you haven't bought a Switch 2 yet they haven't increased the price from launch but it's just a matter of time
