Ok I was going to clown you for the "..throw in a little this and a little that and Sony would've CLEARLY won" hindsight bit, but after reading the bolded text...just nevermind, you're clearly delusional.
Lol, bro Nintendo didn’t show anything significant. BOTW 2 was the only big thing but that’s far away, targeting 2022.

MS didn’t show any gameplay, except for Forza, which was awesome, but that was it. They didn’t show Halo, Hellblade 2, Perfect Dark, Avowed, Everwild, Fable, etc. Instead, they showed the Redfall and Contraband CGI.

While those weren’t necessarily bad shows, this Sony’s list with actual gameplay of Deathloop, Horizon, Sifu, Stray, FIST, etc. would have been much better and preferred by the majority.

Stupid is to think a first party like Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo would develop a game for a third party publisher on an almost dead IP that never sold an important amount of units. They don't need to do it, they are publishers. And they have their own IPs that are more valuable than Silent Hill, there's no reason for them to develop games for Konami. Even more when this Japanese studio that according to these bullshit rumors has been downsized and fired most people who could have been working on it. And the fired people who could have been working for it now have their own small studio that working on another project that seems to be something like a horror version of DMC.

Stupid is to think someone with a giant ego like Kojima would work again for someone who fired him and in a game these guys cancelled it for him, specially in the context of Japan and how humilliating is for them to be fired. Or even to think all that stunt of firing him, setting Kojipro was all a PR stunt for later to make a suprise announcing they are still in Konami working in Silent Hills.

If a leaker would know there is really a second Silent Hill being developed by a Japanese studio they would say the name of the studio. But all Japanese studios who could work on it are or have been busy with other projects or like Japan Studio or Kojipro wouldn't work for Konami.

Yes, VGC has a good track record but like all the gaming press also has a track record on publishing fake rumors that ended on nothing or proven false.
I like how all of the points you're trying to make are solely based upon assumptions and in you being dismissive of all the information presented by people with actual trackrecords. You're setting yourself up for a rude awakening.

So just because they did “something” that invalidates every criticism. Got it, fanboy confirmed.
You're the fanboy, claiming Sony is dead when they are breaking gaming history records of revenue, consoles sold, games sold and in the recent months they made the announcements and exclusive game releases with great reviews I pointed out plus many other I forgot.

I never said that because they released and announced stuff it invalidates any criticism. I said it's bullshit to claim their are 'dead' when they have been released a good amount of recent exclusives and made a fair amount of good announcements or showcases of cool games.

I think it's ok to say you personally don't like their recent exclusives, or the announcements they made and that you'd prefer other ones instead of them. But that doesn't make sense to claim they are dead.

I would squeal like a schoolgirl for an HD three-pack of Twin Snakes, MGS2, and MGS3 on PS5 + Switch.

Twin Snakes rules. There are dozens of us. DOZENS!

Ok...I'm good.

I look forward to finally getting a proper show from Sony.

The reason why I predict we will get a teaser for atleast 1 first party developer is because Sony don't have a single upcoming PS5 only game announced from their first party. Everything is cross gen.
That makes sense I guess.
Don’t think they’d show off the new IP if GoW2’s getting revealed at the event, which will certainly happen.
True. That was my thinking too, but Miles and Ratchet were announced at the same event. I think Sony will realize that the optics of them showing not one but FOUR last gen games will be bad. So they might throw a bone like a next gen only MGS remake or a 1 minute teaser with next gen graphics rivaling Avatar.

I think Sony has found themselves in a corner because they cant exactly show off photorealistic next gen titles like Avatar when they are still showing last gen games like Horizon and GoW. Ratchet and Demon Souls look stunning but they didnt exactly blow away cross gen games like Miles and Horizon. However, true next gen titles running at 1440p 30 fps like the UE5 demo and Avatar are going to look a gen ahead of GoW and completely overshadow whatever fancy demo they have lined up for GoW.

That's a good point. We still havent seen GoW or Factions/TLOU remake in action, and there is a small chance the remake might be taking full advantage of the PS5 unlike factions which seems to be cross gen. (Schrier's article mentioned how the remake was being built on the PS5)

But I think those are the only games we see this year that we havent seen before for the simple fact that their conference is only 40 minutes long. They pretty much have to give third parties 20 of those minutes like they did last year which leaves 20 minutes for GoW, Factions, TLOU remake, GT7. If this was an hour long conference like the June conference last year then I would've expected new announcements.

I really dont see what else they can show off from first party anyway. We can rule out insomniac, sucker punch, housemarquee, sony bend, and bluepoint since they all shipped games recently. Japan studio has been gutted. That leaves GG, SSM, ND and PD which are already showing last gen games and struggling to release them on time. I highly doubt they have a new IP ready to show.

june conference last year unveiled the PS5 and a ton of indies

this will be more focused. I mostly only expect tlou, gow2, hfw, and stuff from square/gt7.

I think it has enough to be a good conference. But to be blown away will need 1 or 2 big surprises

I'm pretty sure (1) Avatar will be heavily downgraded, because Ubisoft (look at Far Cry 6), and (2) God of War will look as good as Avatar when they both release if not better.

Not to knock other publishers, but their shows did nothing for me. Sony pls. save. That said, just GOW presentation and one new thing would make it pretty damn satisfying show.

The easy to guess titles are:

Horizon
God of War
GT7
Naughty Dog projects
At least one big Square Enix title (Forspoken, FFXVI, FF7Rpt2)
Howarts Legacy
GTAV

But I think there will be a couple of big surprises at least.

But the CGI announcement trailers (which take some actual effort if you didnt know) for Contraband, The Outer Worlds 2 and Redfall just "dont count" to you, huh?

The double standard is hilarious.
I bet you went bonkers for that God Of War 'title card' at the last Playstation Showcase as well. 😂

I get it. When ya aint got shit to show, just make fun of how the other party announces theirs.

Agreed. They definitely need a big mind blowing next gen only game. But like I said above, will they take the risk of that game overshadowing not one but FOUR of their first party titles? I guess we will find out.

I'm pretty sure (1) Avatar will be heavily downgraded, because Ubisoft (look at Far Cry 6), and (2) God of War will look as good as Avatar when they both release if not better.
Of course, every ubisoft game gets downgraded. It's the systems that will set it apart from other cross gen games like Far Cry and Horizon. They specifically talked about utilizing the SSD to not just stream in higher quality textures faster, but also how it allows them to do faster travel. They are also going all in on destruction which even when downgraded will look better than Horizon. The lighting engine no matter how much they downgrade will also look better than the lighting engines in Horizon and Far Cry 6 just like how Division despite its numerous downgrades still looks a gen ahead of any open world game in the PS360 era.

Buddy, wait until you see GoW first.
I want to believe but after seeing how Horizon devs are pretty much only using it for hero lighting waves, and some extra detail here and there, I am not keeping my hopes up. Do you think SSM will make two different versions of the game? One for PS5 with photorealistic lighting like Avatar and one for PS4 using the old lighting engine from the 2018 game?

I highly doubt that Kratos will have a different model across two games. It's just too much work and something we have never seen before in a cross gen game. I would like to think SSM might be the first one to make a brand new game on the PS5 and then downport it to PS4 using last gen tech, but after seeing how the wizards over at GG essentially ported the same game on PS5 with minor enhancements, I am not holding my breath.

it's like flying in Horizon. It's pretty much guaranteed to be in, but is it going to be exclusive to just the PS5 version? If not, would the PS5 version have faster traversal speeds? Miles did not.

I think people are fixating on the cross gen issue a little too much. They have to finalize the design of their game before they start developing it — testing/prototyping their ideas. If Sony allowed their studios to release some games only for PS5 it doesn't make sense to think GOW or Horizon wouldn't be given the same option. I'm fairly sure that once they were done with the design/planning phase, they realized they could support the PS4 as well if they wanted to devote time and resources (which as we know now, they have.)

I bet both Horizon and GoW will be the best looking games ever when released. And that Avatar will look way worse than both of them and nowhere near the CG they did use to reveal it, it will get fairly downgraded.

What we saw from Horizon 2 already looks amazing, and I'd say GoW will look even better. If the games look amazing who cares if they are cross gen?

Death Stranding: Director’s Cut (Hideo Trailer)
Grand Theft Auto V: Next-Gen Remastered
Little Devil Inside
There will probably be a few more unannounced Indies.

Horizon: Forbidden West
God of War: Ragnarök
Forspoken
Gran Turismo 7
The Last of Us, Pt. II: Factions Multiplayer
London Studio’s Unannounced Multiplayer
Silent Hill or Metal Gear Solid (Remake)
Bluepoint Games’ Acquisition

Outside of all the games listed here that have already been shown, it’s all anyone’s guess.

I'm not expecting much - too many big games got delayed to 2022 and stuff that was planned for 2022 probably suffered similar delays in development . Imho we will get mostly new materials for already annouced stuff, bunch of 3rd party exclusive content deals and maybe some new indies showed.

Live from NeoGAF, it's Friday Night!
I hope that something new and unexpected, even if small, is shown that i can immediately download after the presentation.

It is a rare occasion but sometimes it happens and gives me a deeper sense of connection to such an event.

I don't know bro. I think you're giving Ubisoft too much credit. I've learned from hard experiences not to make that mistake. And the destruction in Horizon looks pretty incredible, to be honest. I was actually pleasantly surprised when I see that the first time.

Anyway, I think God of War will look better than Avatar when all is said and done. SSM is also using the SSD for seamlessly pulling in 4K high-polygon textures. The level design won't be current-gen, of course, but from a purely graphical POV, I think God of War on PS5 will be better than Avatar on PS5, despite being cross-gen.

No, I am saying that everything that Sony has shown this Summer, if put together in an event (even without anything else), would still have made it better than the E3 shows we had. Because (as I said) Horizon's gameplay would have been enough.

You're either stupid or a troll if you think Redfall/Contraband CGI was better than Horizon's 15-minute raw gameplay.

Hoping for

Updates:
Horizon: Forbidden West
GT7
Little Devil Inside
Kena: Bridge of Spirits
SIFU
Forspoken

Probably there but not fussed:
Abandoned
Death Stranding: Director's Cut
Stray
Deathloop

And that's a wrap in 40mins
This is such a fucking depressing prediction of what Sony will show. Not saying you’re wrong, but no Ragnarok? Nothing to set the Internet on fire? Those are all awfully boring TBH
