At Sony Interactive, we're always experimenting with new and exciting ways to bring our community of players together to share the joys of gaming and create lasting memories. That's why three years ago, we created PlayStation Stars, a loyalty program to celebrate our players. The unique program includes playing games to earn rewards – including our unique Digital Collectibles that pay homage to incredible games and our PlayStation legacy. The program has helped foster a deeper connection with fans around the world.

Since launching the program, we've learned a lot from evaluating the types of activities our players respond best to, and as a company, we are always evolving with player and industry trends. Through this evaluation, we have decided to refocus our efforts and will be winding down the current version of PlayStation Stars. We will continue to evaluate our key findings from this program, and are looking into ways to build upon these learnings.

Here are some key things to know as these changes take place:

  • Starting today, PlayStation Stars will no longer accept new members for this version of the program.

  • If members choose to cancel their PlayStation Stars membership starting today, it will not be possible to rejoin this version of the program, and members will lose all earned Points.

  • Current PlayStation Stars members can still earn Digital Collectibles, Points and level up their status until July 23, 2025 at 7:59AM PDT | 3:59PM BST | 11:59PM JST. After this date, there will be no new PlayStation Stars Campaigns available, or any additional rewards or status benefits to earn.

  • This version of the PlayStation Stars program will fully end on November 2, 2026 and current PlayStation Stars members can continue to redeem Points as long as their Points don't expire before then.

I never gave a shit about the collectibles but it was nice to occasionally get enough points for a $10 gift card. I'd rather they just stop trying to gamify shit and do like Epic does and give you between 5 to 20% back on purchases.

If Sony is moving away from exclusive games , the very thing that kept people in their ecosystem, you'd expect them to invest more heavily in services that build long-term loyalty. But instead, they're failing to offer compelling services, or even scaling back the few they have. It seems completely irrational.

Another garbage feature bites the dust. Creating FOMO so you can collect useless trinkets and collectibles. They were stingy as fuck with the coins too.

I really hope this doesn't mean my jimbo bobble head gets deleted. The man who brought ps first party games to pc should be celebrated.

Why have these programs when people are spending their money anyway? Probably didn't have much to gain from this.
(Sony...not us. i actually gained a bit from this)

Wow that sucks.
I got a ton of 20 dollar redeemable points to use towards preorders. As I should as I buy a shit ton on psn. Really cant be consumer friendly for once eh.

and as a company, we are always evolving with player and industry shareholder trends.

Having a hard time imagining this is for no other reason but to further maximize RPU for the shareholders & bolster margins. Guess too many people were buying games on discounrt with points they earned...from buying games and subscriptions :/

Will there be anything to replace it?

Just redeemed my points like a week ago for some store funds, this sucks. Gave me at least some extra incentive to purchase digitally.

I suggest anyone that hasn't downloaded it to try to see if you got some points for your digital purchases to get some store credit.

EDIT: nevermind guess they are ending new sign ups TODAY, well fuck thanks for the warning Sony, shitbag company

Totoki saw they were giving out free money, and had an aneurysm.
