Average price.

In the case of the PS2, most games sold after 2006 (even new ones) were less than $49.99.

Wow... the demo for Nectaris/MM really turned me off for some reason. Odd, since I love it on the TG-16 and the PS1 remake as well. I just could not get into it for whatever reason. The screen seems so cluttered or something. By all rights, I should still love the game... but I don't.

I have the TG-16 version on the Wii VC, so I guess I'll just stick with that. Sad to say.

Yeah, this version seems to be pretty bad.
* The music is terrible, the remixed music is awful, awful, awful. Furthermore they interrupt the music for a lame battle theme which means that you wind up hearing the first 10 seconds of each sides music over and over and over. :(
* Even set to fast movement and battles aren't as fast as they should be. Instant provides no feedback. The old battles where great. :(
* The interface stutters all over the place, moving guys, attacking guys, ending a turn. It's just for a moment but it's noticable and really annoying. :(
* The graphics in the game are overly busy and wind up being ugly because of it. :(

What a huge disappointment. :( :( :(

i'm glad to see class of heroes up there, but $40?! it should be $30, right?

Speevy already pointed it out - on average, later in the life cycle of a console, fewer games coming out at the premium price, more games coming out at lower prices. I'm not saying games absolutely stop coming out at the premium price.

Also, it's not as if the premium pricing for PSP games has done software sales much good. They've had five years to make PSP games appealing at $40, and it hasn't really taken.

'Course in this particular case, it's an FF game that spawned the discussion so maybe it's insulated from the normal sales issues PSP games have had.

No, that was not always the case. Early on there were $60, $50, and $40 PS1 games. While N64 games skewed higher in price than PS1 games, it is simply not true that they were always $40 or even below $50.

If I have to get out my old magazines and scan in the advertisements, I will.

Two weeks after its release it had already sold over 100k. That's the only numbers that have been given tough. And that's just the US sales, not the Japanese sales where it sat at #1 for quite a while.

Nah, FF VII was Nº 1 in japan PSN and they released FF VIII, wich by the way is Nº 1 now :lol .
I dont see why they woulndt release it, easy money imo.

Let's hope they release it sooner rather than later. Then they can get to the real gem of the PS1 era, FFIX. :)

I'll be getting Numblast (my wife and I love puzzle games) as well as Gex. Even though the 3DO version was by far the best, this game is still a great one!

How is FFVII? Are there loading times, have the graphics held up over the years, i sit RPG-newbie friendly, etc.? I'm not much of a RPG fan (I did enjoy Chrono Trigger, though), but I'm kind of tempted to pull the trigger on this one.

Right, because having number 1 AND number 2 doesn't make them any money.

I think we should be use to those in charge of PSN making non-sensical decisons by now though. Still frustrating to put up with the BS though. The handling of PSN is what single handedly scares me to death of an all Digital future.

Not sure you'll like the graphics if you didn't play it back at the time.
The pre-rendered backgrounds still look good, but the rest has aged a lot.

The loading times are pretty much non-existant.

Oh hey Cromulent_Word, buddy of mine came over last night to watch Fringe and then I threw him a controller and loaded up Critter Crunch, he never played it before, it's a BLAST local co-op. Seriously one of the best times I've had in a local co-op game. Good work.

Thanks! We really wanted to do co-op from the start, but we were never sure if it would turn out... since most puzzle games don't have co-op we were afraid it was for a reason. In the end we're really happy with how it turned out, and it's great to hear people are enjoying it.

Poor soul. It's decently fun in ship battles but EXTREMELY similar all the way through. Ground battles - rush for ion cannon - take out shields on cruiser - rush to ship - fly off planet - enter cruiser - button mash core to bits. Or you can just grind enemies with target lock until you get enough points.

Also, the textures are barely PSone quality and the framerate is hovering at around 10 fps at all times. Poor camera and control. Great music (duh). At least I can sell my copy.

Check my earlier post above in this thread, along with alske's post. We are both (I assume) longtime fans of the series and this remake just... did not click for me. Stick with the TG-16 version or the PS1 version. (I really liked that more than this one. It was more faithful to the original, esp since you could turn off the animations and the extra maps were killer. Also the music was not rendered useless like this newer version's is.)

I dunno, it just feels wrong to me, and what was a must buy for me after the demo was a must-avoid now.

(I really wish I never sold my PS1 copy of Nectaris now.)

Oh yeah, SCEA has come a long way, but let's be clear, all of SCE is being very generous with the term 'classics'... In my mind, they've released 40 PSone games, and about 10 classics... And SCEE has released one classic...

It is mind bottling how SCEA and SCEE have switched positions and went from high out put to no output (SCEE) and from no output to really high output (SCEA)... Let's hope they learn the meaning of the word 'classic' though... x_x
