Is anyone else having issues with Tethered after installing the 1.0.2 update? I keep clicking on my Peeps, but they won't interact with anything that I tether them to. It basically renders the game unplayable.

Also, damn all of these impressions of the Pro improving PSVR fidelity. I like my current limited edition PS4, I don't want to upgrade. :(
Hmm, it worked fine for me. But I saw zero improvement over the standard PS4 version. Did I miss anything? Was there an increase in resolution? It does show the latest patch notes so it should be patched.

Got Robinson today... played for 10 minutes and was about to vomit. This is the only PSVR game that has given me this reaction (and I have Rigs and some other dual stick games). Not sure what it is about this game that makes me sof sick, but it's not playable for me.

Question for those who are fine with it: what control method do u use (free vs pie, etc)?

Edit: I'm playing on a Pro if that matters.

I've been using continuous pie. Haven't felt sick once, (Rigs made me very sick when I first tried it.)

I tried PSVR on my Pro tonight for the first time, and while I didn't see any blackouts, I did get consistent audio skipping (every 20 seconds or so) in VR Worlds. I never had any issues playing on the OG PS4 and I didn't notice it in Playroom VR.
Do everyone that has a Pro with problems had PSVR on the OG first? I got PSVR with the Pro and got zero problems so far.
Just got home late. Will test every game I have tomorrow on cold and warm boot, as I've mentioned it seems to right itself when exiting the game and relaunching. I just haven't tested all games this way from boot.

Wanted to tonight but I'll give it a go in the morning. Sorry guys. Didn't want to just not say anything when I thought I would have time tonight.

Edit:

A thread on Reddit suggests changing HDCP to 1.4 in safe mode. Power off the console, hold the power button for 7 seconds until you hear 2 beeps to enter the safe mode. Change HDCP to 1.4

From there you may have to disable HDCP in system settings on boot, but you shouldn't have to. Worth a try there, too.

You'll have to re-enable HDCP in system settings only to watch streaming stuff like Netflix.

I'm assuming HDMI 2.x uses HDCP 2.x by default on Pro? This shouldn't really matter but it was one Reddit user's suggestion a few days go.

Googling this problem with the Pro seems it is affecting a lot of people :(
Whats HDCP?

Played 1.02 for my first time with Tethered. No problems with moving the little dudes
How do you clean the optics? Tried it with a dry microfiber cloth but it only smudged it.
Wanna know this as well. Bought one of these cleaning pens but how do they work? 🙈

I'm responding to your comment that "Pro won't make PSVR sharp". It will definitely improve in sharpness with higher resolution and AA.

It certainly sounds that way. "You're literally able to see between pixels due to how the lenses focus the image which is mere inches from your eyes" is negative and quite untrue.
I'm as much a PSVR supporter as anyone, but you can definitely see the pixels if you look for them. The statement is completely accurate.

I had this exact thing on the OG a couple of days ago whilst playing VR Worlds. It was subtle but highly annoying.

The cleaning cloth that comes with psvr is absolute junk (at least in eu).

Get a good quality glasses lense cloth, they actually absorb the oils rather than moving them round.

Just use the brush first and than use the carbon tip ( make circles don't press to hard ) After that your lenses will be crystal clear.
Thanks! The lenses get a little bit "wet" when you play for a long time since it get so intense I get a bit sweaty hah.

Showed my mom and dad PSVR yesterday and this is the first time ever they wanted to play a game again. I've tried to show them impressive games for the last 25+ years, but everytime it just have been "okey, cool I guess". They loved the CoD-demo and want to try that today again :)

My advice , don't use cloth. Just the LensPen. Really amazing to clean your lenses that way.

Yeah PSVR amazes everyone :) My dad is 72, I'm 46 myself, and he was not impressed with games since I was a kid playing on Atari 2600. I convinced him to try Ocean Decent in PSVR Worlds and he was going ' Whhhooooaaahhh'! Dumbstruck by how amazing it was 😅

Okay so is anyone NOT having occasional blackout issues on the Pro?

Those that are, are games still playable or is it frequent enough that you'd suggest I save my money until it's fixed? Cuz $400 is a lot, brehs. At that price point I expect everything to work as designed.

Not happened to me yet. Touch wood.

That cloth is only going to get grungy and risky getting contaminated with gritty stuff that will scratch.

Disposable lens wipes are best IMO. The Zeiss ones linked many times in this thread work very well on my PSVR, glasses and monitors.

Guys with the blackout issue - have you tried swapping HDMI cables, or cutting out the HMD extension cable, or switching USB ports?

Do you have 4k or 1080 TVs?

Thanks for the tip.
I blow on the lenses to get any stuff that could scratch the lens. Then I use a Zeiss Wet wipe to gently get the junk off. Then use my cloth to get rid of any streaks. Heh, probably a bit overkill but I really don't want to scratch these lenses. Wish they made it easy to replace if they did.

Per Steve - Lens Pen. Absolutely bonkers how much better it is over wipes or cloth. I now use them to clean my specs. Picked up a few extra as spares :D

1080 monitor

Swapped HDMI
Swapped USB
Did not remove extension cable as it's nearly impossible to VR without it but I've reseated it.

I've gone back to back between Pro and OG PS4 here and OG is perfect, Pro has issues - literally testing as fast as I can hook them up and boot.

Ill do more this morning. Haven't tried knocking down HDCP yet in safe mode.

What HDCP are you using now?

I guess whatever the Pro ships in.

My video chain hasn't changed, either. I have multiple consoles and my PC going through an HDMI switch, then splitter. From the splitter one goes to my capture card and the other to a monitor. I could use the card passthrough but it's a post-compression feed, which is why I have a splitter.

Zero issues on OG. Peeps are plugging directly into their TVs so I can't see any need to disconnect it as it should just work. The social screen doesn't black out for me and audio is going to the social, as well. While audio and the like cuts out for me every 15 seconds or so for a few seconds.

If people have more of these issues with the pro I'm curious if they have 4k TVs or not and what type of HDCP their sets use.

My splitter also strips HDCP from the signal.

Which just dawned on me as I type this out that of the social is being stripped, but the HMD blacks out, white flashes, cuts audio - the handshake might be bad or HDCP kicking in. With a splitter that HDCP is stripped.

Testing now...

So 2.0+
1080p Panny plasma. Also black-out issues. Must be a software thing... never experienced it before.
And what HDCP are you using?

I've yet to encounter even a single issue of such nature with PSVR, be it with my launch PS4 or Pro.

Ok so I wrote my previous post out, didn't hit post and then tested some stuff. So this post is coming back quick but I spent about 30 minutes testing. I'm a dumbass.

So if I remove my splitter since it strips HDCP, my social screen NOW follows suit with the HMD with blackout, audio, etc.

I booted into safe mode, changed HDCP from auto to 1.4

Boom. No issues.

Changed it back to auto - issues.

Changed it back to 1.4 - no issues.

Can still keep HDCP on in system settings, watch Netflix and other video streaming, etc.

I'm assuming Pro and even some OG users have HDCP handshake issues causing HDCP to kick in. With 1.4 - I get zero issues.

Added my splitter back to the chain, same results as before. 1.4 works flawlessly, auto fucks it up.

Procedure:
-Power OFF console
-Press and HOLD the power button, it will beep initially and start booting like normal
-Keep holding for about 7 seconds until you hear the 2nd single beep and let go
-You are now in safe mode
-The last option is HDCP, change it to 1.4 from auto and confirm
-You console will reboot automatically when accepting

Game on and report back. Credit to Reddit for finding this:

This should really be a more apparent option for a fix as even my dumbass, who fucking makes games for PS4, is not on the level when it comes to TVs and HDCP. I can only assume the PS4 can't resolve easily some HDCP with different TVs and Monitors.

Damn! No one is working on a stereoscopic 3D app for PSVR? Would that be something hard to implement?

technically, i think vrideo can do it, but you have to make an account and then upload videos to their servers before you can watch them. It's a stupid system and they'll ban you if you upload porn. I tried it myself and was banned in a few hours.

I can't imagine why it would be. The GearVR had it working from day one, and that was a year ago that it launched.
Do you think Sony is not allowing stereoscopic 3D on the user side?

Are there any alternatives to vrideo that does not have such strict rules?

Yes it is. Gigantic women. Not worth the trouble.

So HDCP 1.4 resolves all occasional HMD blackouts and red lines etc?
For me.

I'll give it some more thorough testing after breaky but yes. Normally my HMD would lose its shit a minute or two into the game then just keep going.

Now nothing for solid single level in Battlezone. Will give it some dedicated time today.

unfortunately I think not, at the moment. And I have to wonder if it's ever coming to the media player, given that there doesn't seem to be a good technological reason why it wasn't implemented day one.

I agree. There is no reason not to have stereoscopic 3D on PSVR... its a no brainier!

If I were a betting man/vegas man I would put money on it coming

Wow, I'm really impressed with the Virtual Cinema mode. I don't even care about the reduced image quality, because the immersion that comes from making the room around you "invisible" and having nothing in view but a massive simulated theater is just revelatory.

Am I the only one who'll be playing regular PS4 games using PSVR as my default option? This is such an overlooked feature.

I haven't had a chance to check out much in the way of actual VR stuff yet. If I'm this impressed already, I don't think I'm ready.

I REALLY hope Sony give us the option of using the camera tracking for theatre mode. I understand why they've done it so you don't need camera tracking but it leads to the experience constantly shifting and it's simply not stable like it should be. Would much rather have solid tracking, the view not rotating and keeping the screen in front of you rather than it changing orientation everytime you recentre the screen (angled upwards or downwards rather than directly in front of you).

Please Sony, theatre mode is really nice for some games, but it's not useable for any kind of extended period without constantly recentering etc.

EDIT: And yeah I want 3D blurays and why is there no 3D support from Sony and others? If they say bluray support is some kind of HDCP issue I'll crack up. It's a no brainer for sure not to have it, would look so good! Shouldn't require a media player and fannying around putting your own files on there (inevitably from a dodgy source)!

couple of observations with PSVR + PRO

PSVR worlds - already talked about how much improved London Heist is. From a jaggy mess to being really amazing looking. Well, the hub world seems to now have a bit of a bug; where the controller will go right through the orb which didnt happen before. Otherwise, sooo good. Yet to play the rest of the titles

TrackManiaVR mode - looks incredible (the track and the grate like flooring is super sharp, you can see every single grid). Almost looks good enough to not look like PSVR, its so clear and sharp on PSVR. I've read that its all short races but damn, they need to do full length titles and I'll bite.

COD Jackal assault - did a barrel roll. WENT wtf lol. That said; COD JA was already better looking than EVE but on PSVR, it looks pretty fantastic. Sharp, the explosions are even better (but I wonder why the explosions sounds so shit)

SuperHyperCube. No improvement. Wait for a sale.

Impressions - echoing earlier sentiments I've made. PSVR should really only be enjoyed on the pro. It's night and day and playing trackmania, it made me think - why did Sony even demo any games on standard PS4 - its impressive but not this impressive. Just looks so good on the pro. Looking forward to getting farpoint now. Loved the demo when I played it and can't wait for it to get released.Might give driveclub another look in if they patch it. Driveclub really would benefit from the pro. When I played Trackmania, I get that it doesn't have multiple competitor cars + AI running but it just looked SO much better.
