Escapeware.

If you've ever found yourself in a situation where you wish you could just be somewhere else for a little while, this lets you do it without actually having to go anywhere. The fact that it actually uses Spotify makes it more attractive in that regard than the Harmonix visualizer.

I actually like these weird little application of VR for non-gaming purposes, so I'll probably buy this tomorrow.

This might be cool if the NPC AI is top notch and fully interactive. For 10 bucks, I kind of doubt that's the case.

Edit- looks like there are no NPCs, just landscapes. Could be relaxing, I guess.

Right now RE7 looks like one of the few wholesome games announced for VR to me..
The playroom vr minigames, especially the atmosphere in ghost hunt gives an idea what could be about to come. What are you folks looking forward to the most?

After RE7?

More pinball titles I guess.

Resident Evil 2 remake? (ONE CAN DREAM!)

I like em too but not 10 dollar like em.
5 bucks tops for crap like this.

Don't be so negative ... a lot of people like experiences, so don't confuse you not liking something and it being "crap." Plus, it has a 20% discount on launch.

I know my mom and wife will want to check this out. My sister, who is much older than me, just did the shark dive the other night and raved so much that other people in my family want to try it.

It's great to have more stuff everyone can enjoy.

That's one of the ways the developers are pitching it on the official PS Blog post. They're also saying that it's another good introductory experience to VR that's not too demanding. I can see how that would work, since this isn't a starfighter cockpit, or a horror rollercoaster, just tropical beaches and mountains.

The post also says that this software is Move compatible somehow. Curious to see what they've implemented for what amounts to a virtual tourism app.

Right, so a few days with the PSVR with my pros and cons so far. Cons first so I end on a positive note. Might do a quick summary review of the games/demos I have played so far as well.

CONS

- Man this is really fiddly to get just right, definite sweet spot to the angle, fit and distance. It can take a while to get things to a good standard. Getting a lot of light leak as well since the rubber edges don't form to my face.
- The 'wobbly' effect I saw people like GiantBomb complain about I have experienced. It does seem like you can mitigate it going through all the steps but if it keeps coming back that could get old.
- The band has a bit too much plastic by the ears for me, my headphones don't quite fit right as a result so having to use my wifes smaller ones. I have a DK2 which I suppose I am used to having a smaller 'band'.
- A lot of bad aliasing on edges in games so far, some seem pretty good but not many of the ones tried so far. Its pretty distracting at times. This I am guessing can be solved with the Pro. Which I might look to pick up next year at some point depending on how Sony supports it and the PSVR. Best IQ I have seen so far would have to be the RIGS demo.

PROS

- Some of the games/experiences so far are amazing. Not many games over the years have plastered a stupid smile on my face but have had that so often with VR, I'm glad PSVR is the same.
- The build quality and overall presentation of everything is spot on, a few design choices I would want different per the above cons but good stuff none the less.
- The graphics are much better than I was expecting after some of the discussion on PS4 not being able to do VR well. Things like the kitchen demo you forget for a second its not real.
- This is a small thing but it makes such a difference, the movement of the body when you lean places in games like Star Wars VR and EVE just sells everything so well.

Download the free Playroom VR game and get Thumper and Rez Infinite. You can get VR Worlds too but won't get the full London Heist experience without Move controllers. The other experiences in VR Worlds are great, though, and don't require them. You can also download the free SuperHyperCube and Resident Evil 7 demos. And you can play all the free demos in the included demo disk.

Get Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and Batman Arkham VR when you get Move controllers :)

and I would hold off on playing Bound in VR until the mid-December patch where they're fixing the camera.

Done, and great fun. Lot of good work by the play room guys for the family for free. Got the demo so managed

Definitely on the list when the UK eventually gets some bloody move controllers. Can't believe there is zero stock for christmas.

Played Bound for a bit, definite camera problems but its an amazing game to look at.

I've reviewed just over 20 of the games released so far here: http://psvr-reviews.com - Adding more all the time. I've reviewed games that not many people have, and a lot of those are the cheaper games so might help you decide on what you want.

Welcome to the VR club! :D

Thanks, great reviews man. Like the help on controllers and nausea levels, very helpful.

Well, after much hunting and eventually giving up, I managed to find a PS4 Pro for sale here in the Philippines. Had to pay a hefty premium, but I wanted it quite a bit, so I took the plunge, and I'm glad I did.

I only have a 1080p TV and haven't tested a whole lot of games, but I was surprised that the difference in image quality between HQ and Lite mode on FFXV didn't seem huge at all. I was iniitially a little worried, until I booted up PSVR.

I tried Playroom first, as I consider that one of the nicer looking, games on the Standard PS4. I was surprised how good it looked. I'd say it was like going from 480p to 720p. Next up was Jackal Assault, VR Worlds and then Batman Arkham VR, with the exact same impact. This thing's a massive upgrade for VR and I can't wait to see how the improvements evolve as devs dig into the dedicated hardware. The only upgrade I tried that I was a little let down by was The Assembly, which has a LOT of specular aliasing on the Standard and doesn't seem much improved on the Pro. I understand it's supersampling, and while it helps with the overall stability of the image, the aliasing in certain areas is still extreme.

Overall, if you have the cash, I'd recommend the Pro for VR alone as it's a tangible upgrade over the Standard, and I think that divide will only continue to grow due to the VR-specific optimiations in the hardware.

I wonder if it'll ever be possible for us to use PSVR + Oculus Touch controllers on PC. Would be nice getting the best of both worlds with one headset. Hopefully positional tracking on PC is figured out soon for PSVR

Just had my brother in-law play Star Wars VR... He literally bought an Xbox One S earlier in the day, told me he returned it, bought a ps4 pro and PSVR. Feels good man.

I think the issue there is going to be that the camera isn't USB. I'm not sure what PC USB cameras are good enough to do what's needed, and if anyone has the know how to build appropriate drivers for them to do accurate and low latency positional tracking.

I absolutely concur.

I did some testing yesterday using my PS4 and a friends PS4 Pro and PSVR to see how much the pro did for the RE demo. I also tried Robinson on his Pro and was surprised how much better it looked than videos I had watched of the game running on a regular PS4. The difference in RE7 was sizable. Seeing the other VR games I have, have PSVR support, sent me out to buy a pro today.

The differences on a 1080p set compared to my old PS4... are minimal to me. But in VR they were marked. Definitely the way to go if you want the best VR experience. It's a tangible difference, not a squint and lean and sort of see it difference like some of the Pro supported games running on a 1080p set.

TAJ

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
I don't get that argument, there are porn movies on blu-ray disc and PS3 could read them since day 1. Mp4 files can also be porn, PS3 and PS4 can read them. 360 SBS can be porn, but don't have to be and we can't watch them. PSVR is not really a kids toy at 400+ bucks anyway, so let us use it to the full potential, thanks Sony!!1

Probably just Sony being Sony and taking their sweet ass time to deliver some new feature that should have been there day 1...

There was no Blu-ray porn when PS3 launched.

Haha. Wow. Finally popped in Harmonix Music and played Easel Mode. Its super fun and cute. Put yourself in a bubble of pulsating particle flowers and swirling it round? Amazing. Looks amazing and fun with the right music - There's something about floating in a world of lights.

I tried to get into Robinson again. It's an absolutely gorgeous VR game (playing it on the Pro) but it bores the shit out of me. I went to the tar pits and everything looked insanely awesome, but the "gameplay" of nudging a piece of rubble in place so I can walk over it 5+ times in a row is just not doing it for me.

I'm already sick of scanning random creatures and the platforming/climbing is tedious and annoying. It's the most visually appealing game I can remember giving up on this quickly.

Party Pooper
It's $25 on the Rift store, which I assume will be the same on PSN. More than happy to pay that, imo.

I'm sure it'll be $25 like oculus

Hoping this is the case because it's coming out so close to that version.

Ports that came later like Windlands/Crystal Rift, cost more on PSVR.

I can understand why, work had to get done, devs gotta eat, but for the end user it's annoying.

Bought Battlefront to play the X-Wing mission, in advance of watching Rogue One this weekend.

The missus found it hilarious that I came out of the VR mission drenched in sweat, it was that intense. Although inevitably there was some fuzziness to the graphics (on OG PS4), it was still enough for me to want a full game. VR is perfect for this kind of thing.

Bought I expect you to die. Will try when I get home from work in 5-6 hours and report on port quality. Will have to finish Shantae Half-genie hero first though. I'm in the middle of the last level.

I'll be waiting to hear your impressions. I feel like some of the Oculus/Vive to PSVR ports have been phoned in to some level (like NBA2K VR), so I hope IEYTD is a good port. The trailer had me interested for sure.

I'm also curious to hear how "Perfect" is if anyone takes the plunge on that.

Games being more expensive on consoles are an unavoidable reality, the platform holders take a large cut of the profits.

I had many of the same feelings, but I forced myself to finish it anyway. You're not missing much.

Also I don't know why the main character has to walk SOOOOO slowly.

About to try I Expect You to Die and Perfect.

-EDIT-
Not even past the opening credits and I Expect You to Die is my favorite VR game yet!! From Russia With Love is my favorite Bond so it feels like someone made a game just for me!!

Just seen this:-

Update for UK/EU Market:

We are absolutely thrilled about your interest in our game. We are working hard to make headway to be available as soon as we possibly can.

The UK/EU has some ratings and standards we're working on meeting, and it's not a quick process.

Continue looking out for us to be available in UK/EU early 2017!

Absolutely gutted.

I Expect You to Die is so good. I only played the first stage but it's so polished. Tracking and controls are great. Already thinking of other ways to complete the first stage that should technically work. The graphics are highly stylized and look nice in VR. I think we have similar taste in PSVR games so far.

Let me get Perfect out of the way..its as crappy as I knew it would be. 3 fake enviroments that have a day and night setting and anything in the distance looks like a shimmering mess. For 8 bucks it was what can you want.

Now..I Expect You to Die. This really is the culmination of everything I wanted in VR. The theme and setting really appeals to me as a big Bond fan so that is subjective. The style/genre of game might be a little subjective too. I only played the first level too and I fucking loved it. The puzzle solving was obviously easy but when you get to the scoreboard at the end i wanted to replay it for the challenges and i am never someone who replays a level..collecting shit?? Ha, not for me. Here I want to do it.

So here is what i wanted in VR. In these first person games where your mobile or stationary i always wanted the ability to PIN something in the air. Shit is always falling on the floor or you have to do hand gymnastics to spin it around. This game had a fucking pin button!!! Just hit circle and whatever you have in your hand (or on your leash) stays in place.

Presence feels good. Loading into that car reminded me of those early PSVR days (2 months ago) of being in a space.

Anyway..i just stopped playing because i need to readjust my camera and chair..need more room to grab those money stacks!!

This and Wayward Sky and my two VR grand champions.

Are you playing on a standard PS4 or a Pro?

Also, I need to get Wayward Sky ...

Does I Expect You to Die play well sitting down or is it like Job Simulator where it's assumed that you'll be playing standing up?

Its a seated game and the way they make you pick things up is brilliant. On the Move Controller (you can use a ds4 too but i dunno) you use the move button to highlight something, trigger lock it and the O and triangle buttons to pull it in and out. You can sit back like a fat slob (like i just did) and play the game.

Pro

Just finished mission 2. Sat there for a good 5 minutes because i couldnt figure out how to make aomething...then an Aha moment...love this game.

I ran into a serious hardware problem, I think it was discussed at launch but since it didn't concern me I didn't pay close attention. Maybe PS VR GAF can help:
PS VR runs fine on my Destiny special edition PS 4 where I had used it since launch, absolutely flawless. Now I wanted to lend the headset to my niece because she is hooked on some games and keeps me from playing my non VR backlog. She has my old launch PS4 which runs smooth since day one. However it does not work with PS VR! The problem clearly is HDMI related, we've switched cables and tried different ones all with no effect. Once you start a game, the calibration/loading circle appears inside the headset while the social screen has no picture at all. Then, after a while, an "X HDMI" error appears inside the headset and you have to turn off the headset. We've tried the same set of cables and while the Destiny PS4 works, the launch PS4 gives me that error. It's really frustrating and some sources claim it's due to the launch hardware of either the PS4 or the VR splitter box and one needs to be replaced. Did any of you have that problem or know what's up with it? I guess I'll have to call support eventually but it feels weird when everything works fine on my primary system.

Are you sure you place the cables in the correct spots ?
